SMSes for Monday 03 December 2012

SMS Of The Day *GOD help Namibian first time home owners. I am a lecturer qualifying for almost N$800 000 but cannot find a proper house or a plot to buy. An undeveloped plot costs between N$250 000 to N$500 000 in Windhoek. Who can or will help us, please somebody!

Food for Thought
*THE darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis.

*PATRIOTISM is when love of your own people comes first; nationalism, when hate for people other than your own comes first. True patriotism hates injustice in its own land more than anywhere else.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*BRAVO Nampol Ondangwa! I reported a case of theft at 02h00. In less than 15 minutes they arrived at the scene. At 09h00 the stolen goods were recovered. Officers keep up the good work.

*DUDLEY, Friday’s cartoon was superb especially Hage the Horrible.

*THE Curious Kitchen by Christie Keulder is always such a delightful read. Love it!

**TJAMA Tjivikua, you apparently get N$160 000 per month but you don’t bother to give a slight increment to your academic staff. You will soon get a rude awakening. Poly is not your home.

*THANKS Tate, the driver of taxi no X178, M David. My very expensive cell phone fell out in the taxi. I called the phone and he answered, proposing to bring it to me. I got the phone.

*IF it is true that Haingura said the teachers planned pay deduction is none of his business, according to an article in The Namibian then I am speechless. God rescue this nation.

*MILTON Louw, thanks for the information on expensive land and tax. I would like to hear more. Educate all stakeholders.

*NBC, one of the most disorganised and unprofessional broadcasters, why should you always have disruptions when you cover live events? Get your act together. This is really becoming irritating. The Swapo congress opening was viewed by many but you failed in your duties. Shame...

*NBC, please remove Swapo from my TV or else I will stop paying my TV licence. Rather show important things.

*NBC Damara/Nama service, your news readers are very poor especially one female reader. When she reads, we can barely understand the news. It’s a pity.

*IF Imke Rust’s art work is scientifically dubious then is the Swakopmund Art Association not artistically dubious? A damning attribute for a cultural body.

*STANDARD Bank cellphone banking sucks. You only get informed a week or two after your money is withdrawn.

*TEN years after the theft from SSC through Avid Investments, criminal prosecution is still in the early stages. What will it take to prove to the Prosecutor General that the criminal justice system is a complete failure? And when will we Namibians start to worry and do something about that?

*WHY does Examinations keep the tariffs for exam scripts secret? Markers only know how much they will be paid after marking and you realise you will be paid peanuts after you are done with marking. Is this not illegal. After all, markers work from 07h00 to 22h00 for lousy peanuts.

*THIS is what we call order. Boarding a minibus to the north is no longer a nightmare. Thank you for the change at Monte Cristo station. We don’t have to be stressed by people pulling our bags and harassing us to choose their minibus. It was a long awaited change.

*TO all dog lovers, please be on the lookout for two male dog thieves roaming Pionieerspark. They stole my brindle five month old Staffie on Monday afternoon in broad daylight in old Pionieerspark. They dragged the dog painfully through gate rails. To the dog thieves, your day will come. The dog was a birthday present for a six year old boy.

*DOES the Polytechnic ever print anything that doesn’t have several photos of the rector in it? He must spend most of his time posing for photographs.

*CAN the government please control the exorbitant fees charged by the Polytechnic? Their fees increase every year but the parents and part timers’ salaries stay the same. Many people drop out because studying in Namibia has become unaffordable.

Education
*I WOULD like to know from the Ministry of Education, some Grade 11 learners did not finish the syllabus due to the teachers’ strike and they told us that if we fail we have to repeat Grade 11. We want to hear from Abraham Iyambo.

*WHAT really is the purpose of the annual mathematics conference? Is it for teachers to meet new friends, go clubbing or enjoy the sea breeze? Something must be done. Our learners are failing this must-pass subject which makes them fail the whole grade! The conference must be workshop-based rather than like a seminar!
– Concerned fellow teacher!

Service Please
*Is there is a body that regulates car prices, especially second hand cars in Namibia? The prices are over inflated. The Ministry of Trade should really look into this, it’s ripping people off. Totally.

*WHEN did it become a rule that Natis only tests drivers through a driving school? What about private people?

*TRANSNAMIB seriously needs to revamp their passenger train services... Delays in departures, stopping the passenger train in the middle of nowhere to exchange drivers! What type of operation is that? Someone at the marketing division respond to this because it is unacceptable!

*STANDARD Bank, why does your SMS service break down every month end? The very time when we need to keep track of transactions.

*City of Windhoek, I like your services but we don’t get a bus from the Catholic Church bus stop in town to Cimbebasia and Kleine Kuppe. We have to take the Olympia bus, and walk from Olympia to Cimbebasia. It’s really exhausting. Would you please solve the problem?

*IUM, when are you going to refund our money, we have been waiting for so long but you are just slow.

*IF the Minister of Home Affairs doesn’t want to resign, can she at least sort out the mess at Home Affairs in Northern Industrial to earn her pay?

*WE sat at Hosea Kutako Airport for two hours waiting for a flight that was delayed. The restaurant was closed and there was no water and food available! Not even a vending machine for water! International standards?

*WINDHOEK taxis are too many and drivers drive recklessly. Please City Police, help.

*WHAT is happening to Standard Bank? This is the third time in three months that they only have one teller at month end at Game Agency in Oshakati. We need serious attention when it comes to service. This is highly unacceptable.

*HOME Affairs and Immigration is dying countrywide. President Hifikepunye Pohamba, do something about this ministry.

*PLEASE Woermann Hyper in Khomasdal, sort out your prices. What you put on items are not the prices we are paying at the teller!

*December 5 to 7 are national testing days. As far as I know community counsellors are going to take part. Whoever will prepare that payment, please do your job. Don’t disappoint us like last year. We only got paid that money in October this year.

*NAMFISA, please come and help us in the Kunene Region, especially in Khorixas. Plenty of illegal cash loans are operating in the Kunene Region and some cash loan owners are so rude and never respect the borrowers. Illegal cash loans are the same with illegal shebeens.

Suggestion Box
*I WOULD expect Unam to investigate the use of the indigenous Moringa instead of promoting the widespread use of an alien species.

*WE want a fish shop in Okahandja! We heard one was recently opened in Outapi.

Labour
*Deduct teachers’ salaries, deduct your votes.

*I’M one of many young, well-educated teachers who will soon leave the profession for greener pastures. After teaching for eight years getting peanuts and renting other people’s backyard flats, I was fortunate to get a position at a parastatal where I will not only receive a salary that is almost three times what I currently get but I will, at last, be able to buy my own home. GRN, if you keep paying teachers peanuts you will have a big problem soon.

*MINISTER of Home Affairs, are you aware that immigration officers haven’t received uniforms for more than five years now? They buy black and white clothes at Pep Stores just to look smart at the borders and airport. Do customs and police officers do the same? No, why? The managers plan. Now you are separating families, vakwetu? Put yourself in our shoes.

*TO the Ministry of Labour, by law fishermen at Tunacor Fishing work for 24 hours, seven days a week when we are at sea. When we take leave, Saturdays and Sundays are also counted during our leave days. Is this not illegal?

*HOW is it possible that police officers who have worked more than 10 years for the police force and have gone through all the necessary training are still constables? Shouldn’t these officers be promoted? This is unacceptable.

*THE government of Namibia is not serious! Why rush to deduct the money from teachers who were on strike but delay paying the agreed increase? The slogan of “together we can do better” is meaningless now. The people of Namibia need to enjoy their freedom by benefiting from the Namibian economy and not from outside Namibia.

Politics
*YOUTH league lost. Swapo won!

*ABRAHAM Iyambo, what happened at the congress is simple: God saw teachers’ tears. He will still hear them.

*HAGE Geingob, the entire nation awaits your command: We will follow your instructions. The Tanganika group has once again proven what you are made of. The real son of the soil.

*I WOULD like to congratulate all the comrades who were elected for the Swapo positions. Good luck comrades. In execution of your duties, please remember to put the people who voted for you first.

*YES! Now I’m happy with the slogan ‘One Namibia, one nation! Viva Hage Geingob, viva! Long live Hage!

*HOPE people will learn from the recently concluded Swapo congress that militancy has no room in a democracy. The chances for Jerry Ekandjo, Utoni Nujoma and Abraham Iyambo were partly out-done by the outdated campaign of the SPYL.

*Politics is the art of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable.

*AS long as Swapo’s power brokers are still in place, who skilfully manipulate the elections results, the Swapo congress outcome will never be an honest one.

*THE politicians who keep talking about the struggle of independence in campaigns have no plans to take Namibia forward at all.

*NAMIBIANS, if you want change then vote for change. Don’t vote for the same leadership and then expect change. Complaining and voting for the same leader who fails you will not help you. Voters, wake up and smell the coffee!

*I DO not understand all this excitement about the Swapo congress. Or is it a matter of if Swapo sneezes the whole country catch a cold? The reality is after the congress nothing is going to change. It will just be old wine in a new bottle.

*DEAR uncle Robert Mugabe! Please explain why two million citizens left Zimbabwe to make a new living in other countries. Or is this the result of his land reform?

*I HAVE nothing against Utoni Daniel Nujoma but I can’t shake off the feeling that as a dedicated Swapo member one day I will be forced to vote for him. The words that come to mind is ‘slow creation of a monarchy’. Democracy is an illusion because it’s full of hypocrisy.

Response to Previous SMSes
*AIR Namibia offers daily transport to and from Hosea Kutako Airport to all ground and flight staff residing in the city. The point of departure and drop off is at company head office. This activity costs a lot. Now add further costs of dropping all airport ground staff at their homes. That’s approximately another 45km driving around Windhoek! It’s a courtesy from the company. The company has the mandate to cut unnecessary costs. Viva Theo Namases for taking the courage in the best interest of Air Namibia!
– Proud AIR Namibia employee

*GREAT suggestion about a Home Affairs ticketing system: Only problem, it’ll make the counter staff work harder, resulting in chaos and collapse! The system does work with reasonable success at MTC in Maerua Mall.

In and From the Region
*COUNCIL of Okongo constituency, we need the road from Okongo to Eengodi to be in a good condition. We are tired of waiting for your promises.

*THE Christmas lights have been put up in Otjiwarongo but the question is who is fooling who? There was a tender out for Christmas lights, what has happened that faulty lights have been put up? Half of the lights are not functioning. The electrical tariffs had been increased but this is the service that you are rendering. Talk to your partners and make sure to get the service back for sure or do you want us to march to both the offices and petition you. Step up or phase out.
