Reshuffle
*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba must be congratulated for the latest cabinet reshuffle. But why is Kazenambo Kazenambo the only target? The Minister of Health is not competent to run his ministry but he is not affected by this. He talks a lot but delivers nothing.
*AS much as we welcome the cabinet reshuffle, we are equally disappointed that our health ministry remains poorly managed, our people are dying and nurses are not remunerated accordingly.
*CITIZEN Katyusa, here is your task at Defence: S&T should be for all ranks. Outstanding promotion for 2012 must be sorted out soon. State vehicles used by management cadres must stop. Housing allowance must be given to all soldiers who do not have subsidies. Lastly, visit soldiers countrywide. Rescue us from poverty.
*HOW can the president make one of the oldest persons in Parliament the Minister of Youth and Sport?
*PENDUKENI Iivula Ithana, I hope you will be able to sort out the mess at Home Affairs. Unfortunately, Gender and Child Welfare will suffer a lot.
Food for Thought
*YOUR mouth can be your biggest enemy. I wonder what people of Namibia want. Start looking at facts and stop complaining about unnecessary things.
*MARRY the love of your life.
*WE, the residents of Ondangwa, learned with shock about the accident that took place at Pick n Pay Ondangwa on Sunday. We are calling upon Ondangwa Town Council to make sure the proper inspections are done to avoid this kind of unfortunate situation in future. To the family who lost their beloved family members, let me extend my sincere condolences and for those injured, I wish you a speedy recovery.
*WHAT will happen to me, as a woman, if I kill a man who ate my money for a long time and just dropped me like that?
*TRUCKS ripping up rail lines in Walvis Bay sounds to me more like a lack of maintenance on its ageing infrastructure. Once again, the Namibian taxpayers have to pay for someone’s incompetence. An independent investigation should be held.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*WHY is it, whenever you see municipal workers cleaning streets in Long Beach, there’s always one or two who think they can stand and do nothing while others work very hard! They will stand and stare at the houses or the women while others bust their butts! It isn’t fair on those working?
*NBC, thanks for screening 1987 sports. Please also screen Benfica, Chelsea, Santos, Black Africa, Orlando Pirates, African Stars, Top Eleven, Arrows and others!
*WHAT makes Namibia’s roads most unsafe is the lack of tolerance of drivers. They try to pass at dangerous places and sit on the tail of the vehicle in front. Very few people adhere to the 60km/h speed limit in Windhoek and race past anybody who does.
*THE news reader on NBC National radio, on Wednesday December 6, must get her act together. You find it difficult to read and pronounce words. One can hardly follow the news. You need to shape up!
*THE Windhoek Library is a delightful place but please clean the unhygienic toilets and please provide toilet paper. Same goes for Zoo Park. Beautiful but filthy. Toilets and pond, a disaster and urine smelling throughout the park. Responsible parties and Namibians, let’s protect what we have by taking care of our collective resources. Show self-respect.
*DURING the NBC DTT presentation I was astonished by the NBC DG when he said the President messed up their programme. To me that’s an inappropriate term to use, in reference to the Head of State, on National TV. Also, his DTT presentation was poorly presented. Thanks to Information Minister Joel Kaapanda who gave a clearer explanation to the nation. It would also have been more exciting for the nation to see the decoders but we only saw the boxes. That’s NBC for you.
*I WOULD like to thank Black Africa players for a job well done on the soccer field. Keep it up.
*I WANT to salute our president for heaping praise on the hard working Minister of Agriculture. Others should learn from him instead of always just visiting regions with assisted prepared speeches full of empty promises.
*NBC Management, what is your rule regarding TV news presenters? Ferdinand Mulale presents the news as if he is talking to a mirror in front of him or like someone who is preparing for an interview rehearsing in a mirror. He is moving his body forward and backwards and widening his eyes too much. It’s a bit scary for us who are watching.
*AIR Namibia, your flights from Windhoek to Ondangwa are getting ridiculously expensive! Are there no other flight operators who can compete here? Especially the Walvis Bay to Ondangwa route!
Education
*THANKS Polytech for getting rid of the Econometrics lecturer! I’m sure the number of economists graduates will increase next year.
*TEACHERS at Charles Anderson in Ongwediva, get off Facebook during lessons and give attention to our learners.
*THOSE of us from the south must enrol when the new university in Keetmanshoop is opened.
Service Please
*I HOPE the new Home Affairs Minister will accelerate documents processing and collections. Please introduce SMS services that will reduce documents pileup and also stop telling people to come after three weeks if you know the documents won’t be ready after three weeks. Give people the right information.
*KEETMANSHOOP Livestock Unit, it takes too long to respond to the community.
*FNB, you really need to improve your service. It is so annoying and disrespectful to be standing in those long queues while you have so many tellers closed. We are not supposed to be in the bank for more than 30 minutes.
*VETERANS Affairs Minister, when is psychological counselling going to be implemented? President Pohamba said at the gala dinner of the Veterans Associations last month that veterans must be given psychological counselling. The social workers in your Ministry are not psychologists neither psychological counsellors who can give psychological counselling to the veterans and their families. It’s high time to make a change and move now.
*I WOULD like to get a clear explanation from IOL’s finance department. If I sign a contract, can it not be withdrawn? The amount they are deducting is different from the amount that is on the agreement letter.
n NATIS Walvis Bay, why do you have a land line number if it’s hardly answered?
*CITY of Windhoek officials should learn what customer service is all about. It does not give them any right to treat people disrespectfully just because they owe the City. In some cases it might be an error on the City’s side – and therefore they should learn to first listen before making their own judgments and assumptions. There is a saying, ‘the customer is the king. And should be treated with dignity’. People in service sectors should know that their salaries come from the same customer that eventually will pay his or her account once the issue on hand has been resolved. As much as we need the services of the City similarly they need our money.
*MTC, your customers are not only those who get paid on month end. Those who are paid on the 15th, 20th and 25th should also be allowed to double their credit. Mind all your customers.
*HOME Affairs and Immigration, So much for inefficiency. Domicile renewal should take 180 days but mine and many others are not done since last year. It’s been 360 days. When you call, phones not picked up. If you go to the counter, you are told the board has not sat. Until when? Now that our finger prints are not known by your system, we can’t even see the people in charge of our files. What should we do? I need an answer.
Suggestion Box
*TO some shops in Namibia, especially up north, teach your management and staff members customer care. We want to be treated with respect. We are not a nuisance. We are your daily bread and butter even when we are poor. By the way, if the management is rotten it boils down to the staff.
*SHAME on Natis! I went to renew my car’s licence at Natis in town on December 6 in Windhoek where I found one of the officers beaten by a customer in front of the security without any help. CEO make some changes.
*RICHARD Kamwi, we do not want mobile health services at informal settlements. We want clinics and hospitals built at these places so that we no longer have to walk long distances!
*NAHAS Angula and your deputy, do us a favour please? Just ship out all the corrupt general officers in our ministry.
*ACC, please look into some private companies who are employing foreigners who don’t have work permits. This is unfair to some of us. Our brothers only want to pay for cheap labour and they employ those foreigners. Please ACC, start visiting all the private companies.
*HOW many lives will the roads claim? I suggest our traffic department should control our roads instead of making use of only roadblocks. It is very painful to lose a loved one.
Labour
*WE’RE tired of KFC. Please help us. The workers are not getting any food for the last few months but salaries stay the same. We’re working 24/7. Alcohol is in the restaurant and unsafe for night shift. Requesting us to make millions with no reward to ourselves.
*WE are cleaners at Otjiwarongo Military Base and we are forced to work after normal hours, on weekends and public holidays without overtime. Please Ministry of Defence, allow us to work normal hours if there is no money to pay overtime.
*GENERAL Sebastian Ndeitunga, accommodation in Omusati Region, especially Outapi town’s police barracks are just for people who are originally from Omusati Region. Seniors with better salaries and married people, who should own houses, are accommodated here while poor constables from outside the region are renting and footing to and from work on rainy and cold nights. Otherwise, allow us to work in our home towns.
*FIDES Bank employees receive N$7 000 housing allowance. As a teacher, I receive N$400! How does the GRN reason? Who decides for civil servants?
*IT’S unfair that we still have institutions in Namibia which treat black Namibians unfairly. Most of the Namcol tutors are still waiting for their wages since June.
*MINISTRY of Defence, get all these retired members from the payroll. Our young brothers and sisters are suffering while we’ve got these retired members on government payroll. When will our sons and daughters get jobs?
*BH Company, we are being paid peanuts here. We are inviting a trustworthy union to come and register us. Imagine a person works for nine years and is still getting N$600 or N$1 300 without an increase? No pension, no bonus, no medical aid and we are working for such a big tycoon. Please Ben Hauwanga, we are expecting a bonus this year instead of a party. And please, before you give away your money left, right and centre, first look at your poor hard working employees. Wake up!
Politics
*THE cabinet reshuffle is a non starter. What difference will the same old dead wood bring? We hope the President-in-waiting is going to appoint his new cabinet based on merit and not on political affiliation or on comradeship.
Response to Previous SMSes
*TO the person who made the argument that the Bank of Namibia should allow you to invest in Gold Prime Time, a known pyramid scheme. Fraud is not part of the free market. BoN is protecting you from your own stupidity. You should thank them.

In and From the Regions
*COUNCIL of Ongwediva, we need a road from Onamutayi to Okadila. Twenty-two years after independence we are tired of passing the big Oshanas (big water pans) with snakes and walking long distances to the clinic and to school.
*RESIDENTS of Ondangwa, watch out for expired stuff from a certain pharmacy. I’m talking from experience. They sold me expired medicine once. Always check the expiry dates before you pay and leave the pharmacy.
*MINISTRY of Works and Roads Authority, when will the Tsandi-Epalela via Onesi road be tarred? That road is destroying our cars due to its uneven potholes. Act now please we are suffering.
*PLEASE put dustbins at the Swakopmund road block.
*ERONGO Red’s media statement regarding their CEO. “The Board felt that it is only fair to give Mr Coeln a well deserved holiday for his contribution and hard work....” Wasn’t he paid, and paid handsomely, for his hard work? Now it will only be fair to Erongo Red electricity consumers to deduct the nearly three months extra leave days from his leave credit. Otherwise he is getting a golden handshake. Erongo Red consumers, let your voices be heard. The Board has no right to give your money away.
*NABTA and Nampol, please do something about taxi drivers between Onamukulo-Oshigambo and Okamwadi. We are really tired of being charged lots of money and overloading of customers. We even want the price list between these three areas.
