SMSes for Thursday 13 December 2012

SMS Of The Day *I WONDER if the owners of fast food (take away) outlets in Windhoek deliberately hire the rudest staff as a strategy. Customers have no choice but to brave these rude, confrontational and foot-dragging staff and are still expected to pay and say thank you afterwards. It is no longer pleasant to go for a quick take-away nowadays. On Tuesday December 11, I experienced the worst service at Tom Thumb (Windhoek West), KFC on Mandume Ndemufayo and the coffee shop in Cymot. It’s like the female staff at these eateries went through the same training in customer care. Owners, please do something or customers will believe it’s your strategy.

Food for Thought
*NOWADAYS we are told “cash buyers only” to purchase a house. I want to know; what average Namibian has N$1,9 million in cash? City of Windhoek clearly is only interested in profits, but does a regulatory body exist to save me, an average single Namibian woman?

*TO me, the word ‘comrade’ has nothing to do with political affiliation. It has to do with people you suffered with, in one way or another, a colleague, a school mate, a close friend and so on. One day I called someone ‘comrade’, who belongs to a different political party than me and now my friends and relatives hate me saying that I belong to a different political party. Even if I did, so what? Are we not in a democratic country? Namibians, it has been 22 years after independence you are still sleeping? Please wake up and smell the democracy.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*THANK you to the Mayor, CEO and roads department for keeping Swakopmund so clean and tidy. You are a model town. Thumbs up for you. Keep up the good work.

*PLEASE don’t give Leah Shaanika her old job back. She was a magistrate who used derogatory language against people.

*THE media must stop referring to people as lawyers if they are not. A person is only a lawyer if he/she completed at least a LLB Degree, completed articles, completed the 11 admittance exams and successfully applied to the High Court for admittance as a lawyer. That person must also become a member of the Law Society of Namibia. Leah Shaanika is not a lawyer!

*A MESSAGE to the thieves who stole my wallet out of my handbag at Jet Stores in Wernhill Park. You are a disgrace to humankind. You have caused me a lot of problems and cost me a lot of money.

*MAGISTRATE Shaanika, appeal? How much more taxpayers money is this woman still going to waste?

*UNAM is the last place anyone should take their kids. The exam department lacks co-ordination and the portal is nothing but a failure! Results come late. Whose fault is it? I wish I had gone to Polytechnic. This has been a waste of years and will be if people don’t wake up and see that Unam is being run down.

*ON December 5 we travelled from the north. About 120 km north of Okahandja we got a puncture. Being only two ladies we felt helpless. Drivers were probably afraid to stop and help. After two hours two people stopped to help. N147276W and N150256W, thank you very much and God bless you.

*SHAME on NBC! Why did you schedule English Premier League highlights and you didn’t screen it? It’s time for you to change.

*MULTICHOICE, I would like to know: why is it that during this time of the year you screen the most horrendous, ancient movies? We are on leave and would like to, for a bit, enjoy what we pay those high premiums for. Please pass this on to Multichoice South Africa.

Service Please
*INLAND Revenue, how long does it take to confirm someone’s bank details. We received letters and SMSes in July saying that refund cheques were processed and should be received within two weeks. So far, nothing has been done. How long should we wait?

*WE, the residence of Omungwelume settlement, want the CEO of either FNB or Standard Bank to take note of us. We travel from afar when we want those types of services, we are your customers!

*SOME schools should hurry with the academic reports. Our children have to apply to other schools but their reports are delayed. Please Abraham Iyambo, help us.

*THE Indian shop in Ombalantu is treating its customers very badly. If you want a bad experience when shopping, go to that shop in Ombalantu. If you complain about their poor service, they can even tell you not to come back if you so wish. Business people in Ombalantu, let’s unite and support the business people who understand our complaints and suggestions.

*MUNICIPALITY of Windhoek must give us places to stay. Poor people are not considered in Namibia. We want land in Otjomuise.

*STANDARD Bank Gobabis, your service is very slow. You are serving people who are also working and are required to be back at their posts. I only wanted to do a money gram transaction but I have been sitting here since 10h30. It’s now 15h30. How many hours per client please? Manager, do something or you will lose business.

*CAN anyone with the legal knowledge tell me why sentences on two or more charges must be served concurrently? Why should this be the case if the crimes were committed separately?

*POLYTECHNIC government loan holders are not able to retrieve their November exam results because of outstanding fees. The person in charge of Polytechnic students at government student loans should do their job please. Why is it that some students’ accounts were settled five months ago and some not yet?

*PERMANENT Secretary of Home Affairs, your good ministry must send counter clerks to customer care workshops, especially those at the Otjiwarongo office. Some are very rude.

*I AM very unhappy with dogs roaming all over Windhoek. Where are the owners? And if they have no owners, what is the position of City of Windhoek? These dogs make my yard dirty. Do something.

Labour
*I’M experiencing a strange feeling (déjà vu) that we have been down this route before. Nantu, Napwu and Ministry of Finance why the silence? When are we going to receive our backdated cheques?

*NAMIBIA Airports Company, how on earth can you require Grade 12 for a cleaner’s position? I don’t think you have applied your mind in preparing this advert. You don’t have to have any education to pick up trash. Please rethink and stop denying our people opportunities in job creation.

*WHAT happened to government and unions and the agreement they signed about public servants’ increment? Was it a fake document they signed? Hage Geingob, interfere please.

*MINISTRY of Labour must please come and check what we are going through at Namagra Mine. Since we started working we are being paid N$5 per hour. Some of us come from the north and are staying in rental houses and it’s difficult for us. Please minister.

*COME January 2013 we will organise a legal teacher’s strike and show this new oppressor something out of this world. The memory of the current government is short. We are professionals and intellectuals. Swapo government must improve the working conditions of teachers or face the consequences.

*IS it official NDF policy that private soldiers should wait on sergeants and other officers? In Leopard Valley, we serve them food, water, pick up their bones after they finish eating and wash their plates also. We have sworn to become soldiers not waitresses. What is so special about them that they cannot put food in their own plates and wash their own plates? We are tired of being treated like restaurant workers. Everyone completed training to be soldiers, not waitresses. We cannot even go away on weekends because we have to serve them food. We don’t get paid overtime for that.

*WE are confused employees at RCC/MCC joint venture in the Caprivi Region at Kapani and Kongola. Our salaries are cut to nothing and are never paid on time, what’s their connection with Bank Windhoek and where are the RCC auditors?

*HAGE Geingob, the first thing you must do is to give us our eight percent! How long must we wait?

*A SERIOUS concern from teachers in the Khomas Educational Region. Why does the regional office not budget for professional development for teachers? We want to register for courses to upgrade ourselves but we are denied the opportunity by the Regional Office. Abraham Iyambo, please help your teachers, instruct your educational officers to plan properly and follow what all other educational regions are doing.

Politics

*HAGE Geingob, you have all the ingredients and exposure a real president should have, so please do not disappoint the nation, because all eyes are on you. Many regard you as the arrogant one, but when the time comes, you better prove them wrong.

Response to Previous SMSes
*IF you are a painter, your clothes will be dirty from the paint you are using. The same way that we (mini bus drivers) get our clothes dirty because of loading luggage on and off the bus.

*I AGREE, many radio presenters need to research their topics but now they won’t be allowed to any longer according to the new research act!

*PLEASE passengers, clean your bags before taking a mini bus. You are making the drivers’ clothes dirty.
