Thought for the day
*CAN the Minister of Health tell us how many nurses have resigned from the hospitals and clinics this year and why there is a big shortage? People on the ground are suffering.
Bouquets and brickbats
*MINISTRY of Environment and Tourism why declare Dorob a park and than approve Gecko Industries to operate in same park? Do you have any clue what you are doing? That’s just plain double standards.
*AIR Namibia destroys the positive image that tourists have of the country by overbooking flights and then bumping paying customers. A manager (name given) urgently needs customer care training and the MD should be less aloof and more in touch with happenings on the ground.
*I REALISE we Namibians have a misperception of building a mall development. Everywhere in towns around the country there are plans to construct malls which will have retail shops such as Edgars, Jet, Shoprite and American Swiss. Our town councillors and mayors think this is development that they bring to the people. But this is not development, it’s colonialism in a different form. To empower people cater for their needs.
*Reports in the media that Minister Kamwi and former PS Kahijoro Kahuure are responsible for problems at Health are biased and unbalanced. The health sector problems are as a result of years of poor investment by central government in the face of increased needs. Please serialise the Health System Review report for the nation’s benefit.
Law and order
*PLEASE can Namibian government take Botswana to International Court of justice for killing our brothers in Caprivi Region proof must be provided or animal which was killed by suspects.
*WHY do Rehoboth police officers refuse to take a complaint of domestic violence from women for the second time if it was withdrawn the first time? Is this national policy? What happened to GBV and its prevention?
Civil servants
*WHY are the Namibian Police and Defence discriminating against HIV-AIDS infected people? They are also Namibian. They need work to look after themselves. First Lady, please help us so that we can also get work in the Government even if we are infected so that we can afford to drink our pills with food. Please help us.
*WE civil servants want our back pay, salary increases and housing allowance increases. Or should we start a strike as well? Do you know that if we strike the patients in hospitals, learners in schools and other services will be left unattended. Government must act now before is too late. We are tired!
*MINISTER of Safety Nangolo Mbumba, what are you doing for the police? Nothing! You are more concerned with Swapo than your ministerial duties.
Environmental
*GECKO industrial park in the new Dorob park? What a joke!
*SO we are not allowed to camp at the Dorob Park but toxic waste could be dumped there. I would be ashamed if the government allowed this.
Education
*What does NTA want from us? We have register on March 2 at Tucsin (Ongwediva) but still their classes have not started. We want our money back!
Sporting
*WE need committed sports men and women. Don’t tell us that you couldn’t win because you lack experience or you are young. Sport is dominated by young people all around the world. Ask winners like our own Frankie, Harry, Agnes, Ambunda and Moses and they will tell you that you stand a better chance in sport when you are still young and energetic than when you are experienced but old and slow.
*NAMIBIA lets be honest. Our current situation of incompetence in Sports (apart from boxing) has nothing to do with population size. If we are too few to compete then why waste resources by putting up sport facilities and going to the Olympics? And Sports is really not just about winning but if you lose every time in all sports codes then you have a problem.
*HARRY Simon, Wilbeforce Shihepo and Nestor Tobias! What is really the issues between you guys? We sport lovers don’t want war in sport. Tobias you own Sunshine [Boxing Academy] not the boxing association and you are there because of people who sponsor you and God opened all the doors for you. Do you think it’s difficult for him to close all the doors again? What if all the companies that sponsor you make up their minds not to sponsor you anymore? Please brother man, focus on your career, don’t wash it away.
NBC
*IMAGINE how much taxpayers money will be saved without NBC!
*IF it wasn’t for the job creation aspect I would’ve rather said NBC should stay closed. It’s absence is hardly noticed. Jack
*NBC you are forcing people to pay TV licences but you don’t want to pay workers, why?
*NBC you can strike forever. We don’t miss you at all. Really!
*NBC when you arise from your natural death please answer me. I have a TV but I’m staying where there is no NBC coverage. We are only watching movies on a DVD player. Please tell me what is that that I’m paying NBC for?
*I HOPE NBC will give discounts on TV licences because we didn’t watch NBC during their strike.
*WE can still live without NBC. We have so many media reports in Namibia one can just see that there is no need for paying TV licences. It is daylight robbery. They even commercialise everything. We don’t even have a proper death announcement for our beloved one anymore. They are just rushing for commercial announcements.
*VIVA NBC! Keep on striking! Nice music over the radio!
In and from the regions
*THE growing number of car accidents on the Gobbis- Windhoek road is a course for concern. These long distance taxis are speeding like hell and the drivers are so arrogant when passangers talk about their speeding. People stop gambling with your lives and know who the driver of the vehicle is that you are getting into. Miss M
*PLEASE ELCIN community of Aranos let’s stand together and look for alternatives to keep pastor /Nanub in Aranos because since his reign in the church a lot of developments took place. So let’s unite and offer him the necessary support. Proud Lutheran!
*HELAO Nafidi leaders tell us if Oshipwatapwata location will ever be moved to Omafo? We want to build our good shelters but you stopped us. Now you are quiet.
Taxi
*Can the authorities please look at taxi drivers (number supplied). Some taxi drivers are telling people to pay N$10 and other taxi are $9. We are confused. how much must we pay? We are really sick and tired of these things!
Lost and found
*I found ID, driving license of Kumaipurua Kaura. Call me at 0812612816.
*LOST ID card of Namakau Bernedette Nyambe. Collect at City of Windhoek’s customer care building plans counter in the city centre.
Response to recent SMS
Response to the SMS that appeared in the Namibian of August 20. The SMS reads as follows “The directorate of National Examinations has failed us, those of us who have written the Cape Examinations and have lost our certificates do not get replacements anymore. Apparently DNEA is unable to trace the examinations offices in South Africa yet they make us pay for something they know they cannot help us with.”
The Ministry of Education, through the Directorate of National Examinations and Assessment, would like to inform the public that the message is false and should not be entertained. Arrangements are that students should apply directly to the Western Cape Examinations Department at the following address:
The Director: Examinations
Private Bag X9114
Grand Central towers
Lower Parliament Street
Cape Town
8000
Tel: +2721 467 2000
Fax: +2721 461 5637
The application contains all the information that should be completed by the student. The DNEA does not collect money on behalf of students, as this should be paid directly to the Western Cape Examination Department. It is the responsibility of the student to follow up on his/her application.
The DNEA is daily in contact with the officials of the Western Cape Examinations Department and they have informed us that the results of the Namibian students who apply to them for the lost certificates can’t be traced.
