SMS Of The Day *FUEL price increase again? Why do they keep on increasing and decreasing fuel prices? Why don’t they wait and see if the trend will last for a long time or not? This is because when the fuel prices go up, the prices of other goods go up too. But once the fuel prices come down, the prices of goods stay up.

*CAN someone tell me: are we really democratic in Namibia or is democracy just a word yet in practice we are just not? There are no public debates. Things just get imposed like in the colonial days. What a democracy we have.

*I SALUTE the mother of the Grade one boy who reported molestation to the teacher. It shows this is a loved child who immediately knew what had been done to him was wrong. Yes I agree with the mother whose heart is aching for these boys. You are not alone.

*AGRICULTURE Minister John Mutorwa hear the cries of the farming communities regarding the restructuring of Meatco. What do you want to do with 30 per cent of the meat? For once, please listen to the Namibians. Stop spending our tax dollars on advertorials. We do not want Meatco to become another Air Namibia, TransNamib, NBC or many others. What you need to do is to explore for a new market for the beef industry.
*I WANT to know why, when a presidential term expires, that of the ministers doesn’t? What sense is there in it if there is a new leader but the same members?
*MINISTER Jerry Ekandjo: are people then in rural areas only subjects and those in urban areas only citizens? This is in response to your call for people to abide by community courts of traditional authorities.

*PRESIDENT Joyce Banda please visit Namibia to help our people to sort out the problems in our country. We need a person like you.
Education
*MINISTER Abraham Iyambo and Mr Lupalezwi director of education Caprivi Region. Do you know that Grade 1- 4 learners in rural schools are without erasers, crayons and colouring pencils? Poor teachers of these poor children are forced to take their own money to cater for their children’s needs in class. When are rural teachers and learners going to be looked at in terms of equal distribution of resources?

*MINISTER of Education Dr Abraham Iyambo, Diyana Combined School in Mukwe circuit is losing teachers. Some subjects have no teachers. We pity the Grade 10s. This year six teachers transferred because there are no houses for teachers and no water. It is the only combined school without teachers’ houses. We have tried with the Rundu regional office yet they press the ignore button.
*MINISTRY of Education what procedure should be initiated to close a school for repairs? Noordgrens in Rundu is unacceptable and downright unhygienic. It is dangerous as a roof could come crashing down on pupils.

*WHEN will the Ministry of Education hand over laptops and ICDL certificates to those teachers who finished their ICDL training two years ago? We understand that those computers are collecting dust there in the ministry.
Law and Order
*HOW will you know that he/she was a poacher if not arrested and put on trial? Never support criminality and heavy handedness. What Botswana security did is a crime against humanity and outlawed. There is no justification under any international law.
*WHOEVER made this new labour law is increasing fraud and crime. They have taken away bread and education from many innocent Namibian children. It will leave so many homeless. You’re sending them to the streets, throwing them to the wind. Please think over this law.
In and From the Regions
*I AM a Namibian from Okathitu, Onaanda, but I don’t understand why we have had to dig a well for water after 22 years of independence? Water is kilometres away. Electricity from the north ends in Onaanda, from the west in Onandjo, from the east Omapopo and from the south, Afoti. What is going with the council? We need water and electricity closer to us too!
*KAMANJAB, Uis, Henties Bay and Omatjene gravel road needs tarring.
*MUNICIPALITY of Walvis Bay, please take care of the palm trees that you have planted. They look as if they don’t get enough water and have a lot of dead and dry branches that need to be cut off, especially in Kuisebmond!
*HENTIES Bay councillors have forgotten the voters. No rubbish being picked up, dogs all over, no more children’s playgrounds, no street cleaning, no public meetings. Shame on you. Please we need fresh minds, we are tired of empty promises.

*THANKS NBC for the TV programme ‘Know Namibia’ on Mondays at 17h00. Everyone should watch it. One learns a lot!

*N$80 MILLION to renovate? Furniture from Italy? Why Italy? If the chief executive officer overlooked the proposals, did the board members also just gave a green light to that? A very big mistake I think. Let’s get real fellow Namibians. CEOs, seniors and board members of state-owned enterprises we need to save our SOEs for the coming generations and not just do whatever as long as we know that the costs will be covered. Anti-Corruption Commission, we trust that you will correct the matter at Agribank.

From the Namibian Police
RESPONSE to ‘Over 160 police officers sacked in six months’
We wish to set the record straight and dispel the perception that a high number of Police officers are discharged due to misconduct.
The fact is that, from the mentioned number of 160, only twenty (20) were discharged on account of violating Regulation 15 and Section (9) of the Police Act; that governs the conduct and behaviours of police officers. The rest left the Police for various reasons such as: retirement, death, greener pastures, transfers, medical reasons, full-time studies and resignation. Salary is in many instances not a contributing factor to anyone’s unbecoming behaviour.
