Food for Thought
*IS THE statue known as the unknown soldier at Heroes Acre really unknown? Take a goooood look.
*I JUST looked through the prices of real estate in the various newspapers. The government and City of Windhoek should do something. This causes slow growth of the economy because the take-home pay is stuck in property and rent.
Service Please
*TUWILIKA Training Institute and NTA, refund our money. We have been waiting for so long now!
*PLEASE Dr Kamwi can you visit Katutura Hospital? We came at 07h00. Until 12h00 no one assisted us patients. The nurses are just sitting and talking while we are sitting here. We are sick and tired of this. Everyday is the same.
City Fathers
*CITY of Windhoek we, the residents of Grysblok, don’t sleep during weekends. There is a bar which makes noise the whole night. Is the closing time not applicable to all bars?
–Concerned resident.
*PLEASE do something about noisy sheebeens in Karasburg Street in Havana. There are no toilets and their clients are urinating in our yards. They operate throughout the day and night. We cannot study. Please put restrictions on illegal sheebeens. We are tired of noise pollution.
*THE THEFT in the Gammams Cemetery is appalling! The problem is that the public may simply drive into the cemetery, with their vehicles, which in the past was not allowed! If persons were unable to walk one had to rent a wheelchair. The municipality has a responsibility to families to ensure the safety of headstones et al.
Boquets and Brickbats
*MINISTER of Health, do you ever go to hospitals without NBC?
*I DEMAND to know what s happening in the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) offices! I last received a statement last year and I am still paying as it goes off from my pay slip. It is my hope that this year’s contributions are not in vain! Please provide an email address so that we can interact more!
*MADAM Penexupifo Pohamba, congratulations to you as the Ambassador of Peace. Please advocate for peace within families, no matter what happens, and the country will be filled with peace. The Organisation for the Empowerment of Widows / Widowers and Orphans of HIV and AIDS in Namibia (Oewona) is a good example of peacekeeping for widows and their families. What about all families making out the Namibian nation?
*EXCELLENT article on land grabbing by Willem Odendaal in the Friday issue of The Namibian! Mr President, it is time for you to act. Start by making a public comment on your stance on the Tweya land grab in the Kavango Region. Or do you endorse illegal communal land grabbing?
*EVERY year the government bails out NBC and Air Namibia. Then government say there’s no money for increases for pensioners and civil servants.
*One Africa TV please bring back e.TV.
Olufuko
*WHY is it always reported that Olufuko took place 80 years ago? I grew up at the village where Olufuko was happening every year. Check your facts. Go to Onhamafipa village in the Omusati Region where we enjoyed Olufuko Festival until early 2000s.
*I AM happy that the government is supporting Olufuko. We even have the founding president as a patron of the event. What I want to see is these girls treated like royalty. They must have a hair dresser and a designer for their clothing, so that the event is made special for them and for the event to attract more girls and the whole nation at large.
*OLUFUKO! Why is it that those who do not know have so much to say? Olufuko is not a violation of any human right. How many young ladies goes half naked for no good purpose? Who bully them? Fellow Namibians it is high time for us to appreciate what is ours.
*CAN the politicians please change Ludwigsdorf, where most of them live, to Ithanadorf? Believe me, they will hesitate because there are no shacks there.
In and from the Regions
* TSUMEB Municipality is sucking blood out of the people. How can one household, using a conventional metre, pay N$4,50 for one cubic which is = 1000litres while for a pre-paid metre you pay N$60 for 1000litres. People with conventional metres use more water and pay less while people using prepaid metres use less and pay more. Anti-Corruption can you please come in and investigate.
*WE NEED attention! Rosh Pinah is growing. We really need Natis to open their offices here. We need drivers licenses too. We have a huge police station and the clinic was just upgraded. Please open Natis offices.
*DEAR COUNCILORS of Usakos. Please help the people who deserve to get Build Together loans because you are wasting time with people who are not serious please.
National Days
*WHEN some Namibians don’t attend national day commemorations they are labeled as unpatriotic. However, some acts at those events exclude and push people away. E.g the MC at Heroes Day, Nangolo Mbumba was deliberately speaking Oshiwambo without translating and this was live on NBC.
*THE MODERATORS during the Heroes Day at Omuthiya has really spoiled my day by talking to themselves non-stop and give no room for viewers to listen to the parade commander, when he was busy reporting to the Commander in Chief, let alone enjoy the music from the military brass band or hear the roar of the flying past of military jets.
Civil Servants
*THE MAJORITY of soldiers and police are homeless or renting only. The majority can’t even qualify for a house or a car. Honourable minister subsidise town houses for us! We are tired of renting.
*PLEASE! I’m an civil servant in the office of the Prime Minister. It is very painful and an embarrassment that most of us do not own our own houses. We are just renting because of low income but even the higher income earners will never be able to afford a house in Windhoek. Please President Pohamba look into these matters, or just build yours and we can rent from the government, instead of making people rich, who do not even respect human-beings.
*MINISTER Abraham Iyambo, do you know that teachers only qualify for N$395 000 for home loans? Where in the city do you still get houses/flats for this price? Do you know that teachers don’t get paid for after hours work? Do you know that teachers don’t get government cars? Please help!
*COME on Namibians! The teachers are languishing in poverty, so are the nurses, the police and the soldiers, while the politicians live in luxury. Let’s talk about this seriously. Time is running out!
*THE MEMBERS of Nampol are hungry. Minister Nangolo Mbumba we need our big money that was promised in April 2012. We are renting. We have no food. We need our increment. God touch the heart of the minister.
Response to Previous SMSes
*REFERRING to the SMS concerning the shooting of the car thief. Well done! In a ‘civil society’ these shameless burglaries and assaults should not be tolerated. Keep up the good work.
*REGARDING the Grootfontein scam, it is indeed true. I personally experienced it but I was quick to smell something fishy because I never come across a Damara-speaking person who needed translation to Afrikaans.
NBC
*NBC we are tired of the Bethuel and Isaac boxing video. Give us something different please!
*NBC coverage at Omuthiya was 100 per cent weak. No sound was heard except of the NBC presenters or moderators.
*CAN YOU believe it that NBC will be declared as an essential service. It can’t be April Fool’s Day! Please close NBC permanently because it is only a burden on the taxpayer. This year after year bailouts must now stop.
