SMSes for Thursday 23 August 2012

SMS Of The Day *Why should we depend on other countries to feed us if we can grow our own food here? For sure we have plenty of water and soil.

Food for Thought
*If I see how schools dictate the flow of transport the GRN can relieve traffic jams by introducing school busses.

In and from the Regions

*IS IT fair that the municipality of Tsumeb is trying to make money out of poor people like in the surburb of Soweto? We are paying a lot of money just to buy water. Even those watering their gardens daily are paying less than us. We spend N$400 and above weekly and that’s only the usage without the basic. That’s another N$450 to be paid monthly. Will the line ministry look into this matter as soon as possible? Please, it’s extremely expansive.

*I’M impressed by Omaruru councillors for appointing their CEO whom they think is the right person to do the job unlike Jerry Ekandjo who wants to appoint a person who can dance to his tune. Other towns must emulate this great example and democracy must prevail in Namibia. Viva Omaruru!
n I HAVE a concern about the gravel road from Engela via Okalongo to Outapi. The company that is responsible for this road must do something. I suggest they level it at least twice a week, especially during the December holiday.

*OUR dear Minister Dr Iyambo please come to Aurora Primary School in Okahandja. There are a lot of problems and it’s affecting the teaching and learning. Teachers are fighting almost everyday. Please hurry!

*DIRECTOR of Education in Otjozondjupa thanks for the fast and efficient services that we get from Mr Gaseb at the salary office. He is always helpful and carry out his tasks diligently. I hope other officials will emulate him. Keep it up Mr Gaseb. May God bless you.
– Otjozondjupa teacher

*ABOUT the stolen/smuggled dogs; in terms of the road traffic ordinance years ago, a dog was considered as livestock. If this is still the the case, these evil dog thieves could be tried and could face up to 30 years in jail... wishful thinking?

*COUNSELLOR of Rundu rural east we want electricity in Mayana village. When are they going to finish our market or our Sitanda? You just put in the polls and fence then you keep quiet. Or did you want it to be a kraal for the cattle?

Civil Servants
*MINISTRY of Finance we want our increment before year end. Please everything is too expensive in this country.

*IS IT fair for the person to be recruited as a warrant officer right off the street without police experience while there are those with experience as well as qualifications? Paulus Noa please investigate the police promotions.

*MINISTER Nangolo Mbumba if you cannot run the police just resign brother. When will police officers get promotions? What qualification should a member have to be promoted?

*NBC needs to be changed from SOE to state department. Salaries must then be aligned with those of GRN employees.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*NAMIBIA criticised that they don’t have a right to information law after 20 years? It’s a shocking story to the electorate and media at large. The government have nothing to hide. They still have their secret bill to benefit them. For the interest of Namibians ICT minister implement the law now. The right to information is a part and parcel of democracy.

*AT LAST, recognition agreement between Poly and the workers union signed after a very long battle of more then ten years. Wow! What an achievement.

*DR KAMWI look a good example from NBC while your community counsellor volunteers are threatened please! Increase their wages.

*NAMIBIAN society seems very lazy to think and discuss the issues that bring about social decay. Take the new phenomenon of people equating love relationships with money and other material rewards. It’s sickening that we accept this as a norm. In normal societies this is plain prostitution. Where has all the dignity and pride gone to? Is it not better to go full time as a prostitute rather than collect many partners for money and invite tragedies?

*MY daily, please do me a favour and undress the player in your EPL advert (Robin van Persie) because he is worse than Judas of the Bible.

*SOME Namibians are not honest. Look at Olufuko. Those who support it sent their children to China and elsewhere. Only poor families engaged in those dubious activities.

*THE Permanent Secretary of Education and the director of DNEA please go to South Africa and collect records of the Cape Education Department. I have a brother whose Standard 10 certificate burnt in 1999 until now he can not obtain a copy. Cape Education ended after independence but our ministry does not have any records, why?

*NATIS valley in Windhoek its so disgusting. You cannot even pick up your phone when one needs help! Please ship out if you can’t deliver and hire more people who want to serve this nation!

*CITY of Windhoek councillors until when are we leasing your land at Havana? We are tired of renting. Give us erven to build our houses.

Something Smells Fishy
*‘WORK on cruise ships. Send N$10’ This advert is back again after it has been proved a scam?

*SOMETHING at FIS stinks with the new allegations of corruption at the top. And so does Namfisa... what happened to their investigation? The people have the right to know! Paulus Noa if you again decide not to investigate please remember your legal duty to provide written reasons. You are very far behind on this duty and yet advocate access to information.

*PLACING adverts for non-existing vacancies to simply comply with work permit application requirements is unethical and corrupt. Reserving jobs for foreigners in this manner is equally unethical and does not serve Namibian interest. Businesses in private sector (mining) must please stop this practice!

Dorob
*NOW Namibia is taking wildlife out of their natural habitat, to send them to a Zoo in Cuba, how sick is that? Must be some sort of a money making deal for a fat cat somewhere in government.

*IS THE MOE aware that Dorob National Park has heritage sites of national importance? Were heritage institutions in Namibia consulted in this regard? Please do your homework. Our heritage is matters to us.

*THE whole issue of the Dorob Park does not make any sense to me. Its not only the Gecko project. What about the movie people and tour operators? Just because these people are given a piece of paper (permit) they are allowed to do as they like in the park. We must also not forget the miners and prospectors.
