Food for Thought
*I LIKE watching ‘Undercover Boss’ on DStv. I would like our Namibian bosses to watch it and learn a thing or two about the hardships their employees face.

*WELL done Advantage Y&R your photo of Fortune celebrating her achievement in the reality series ‘MasterChef SA’: Priceless!
*DR Ngurare, I have always supported you but your comments regarding Ms Shikomba belong in the dark ages. Sexual harassment is an unwanted sexual approach and, just like rape, it is a manifestation of control not an indication of attraction and attractiveness in the victim. Your comments on Ms Shikomba’s perceived beauty and ‘calibre’ deserve an apology; maybe you yourself should attend some gender-awareness and gender-based violence courses.
Counting Heads
*CAN’T believe it! Our population is only 2,1 million but we find so much poverty, hunger, illiteracy, disease, homelessness, unemployment, etc. With so many natural resources Namibia could really be the country of milk and honey. Poor leadership, corruption, theft and tribalism rob us of being a prosperous nation.
*IT’S now been more than seven months since the census was done. The long-awaited results have been released but why preliminary? When do we expect the final one? Will Namibians ever finish a given task successfully? Why on earth was the large workforce, millions of expenditure and time invested? All in vain? Are we competent?
*IT’S official that Namibia’s population is 2,1 million? Increased by 15 per cent in 11 years? But disappointingly we still cannot be proud of that result and call it official if we do not know how many foreigners we have in our country (out of that figure). How many mushrooming Angolans, Congolese, Nigerians and the like? How many Namibians are we from that figure? What is there to be proud of?
*DEAR Namibian government, our population is very low, please introduce money incentives to those responsible parents to have more babies. We can’t achieve Vision 2030 with such a low population.

Taxi Talk
*NABTA and Ministry of Trade and Industry please resolve your kangaroo politics and increase bus and tax fares without delay! For how long must we suffer another petrol hike but no fare increase? Do it in the best interests of the public. We create jobs for ourselves and the man on the street and we pay tax but how can we be successful if you people are killing the business?
*THE taxi rank in Walvis Bay is scary. There is no order! Drivers are out of control! They just grab your belongings and you, the customers, are rather confused about which taxi to go to! Please traffic department, do something about controlling taxis in Walvis Bay.
Law and Order
*MINISTER of Justice, look into this matter. I applied to the Directorate Legal Aid for a lawyer but they told me that I don’t qualify because my income is N$2 000. A certain lady who I know is a successful businesswoman qualified, and for the same matter I have. Her business is doing well and she has employed a number of people at her company at Ongwediva and other places. She applied last year on April 1 and her application was approved on April 26.
*THE story in another newspaper ‘Police in cahoots with drug dealers’ may be true. I have on many occasions given information and was promised to be contacted. Until today I have heard nothing. I have the dates and the names of the officers. Where can I get help please?
*THE Namibian Government should view the extradition of fugitives in a more serious light. People with huge amounts of money hire the most expensive legal teams to get them out of the accountability of standing trial. Our country will be held accountable now or later. Our country cannot be a safe haven for crooks.

*TEKO case postponed again? How many years has it been coming! Our justice system is a joke.
*TO reduce car accidents: Once a driver is found driving under the influence of alcohol his/her licence should be suspended for a minimum of two years. This should also apply to speeding. It’s shocking to hear the Deputy Prosecutor General caught on two different occasions driving under the influence of alcohol.

*PROMOTIONAL products are being imported into Namibia from South Africa, for example, Simba chips. Inside the packs are lucky vouchers, you either win airtime or a house to the value of one million rand. But Namibians cannot take part in the competition. Why do they import their products but we cannot take part in the SMS competition? Namibian newspapers please investigate. We are part of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Southern African Customs Union (Sacu).
*ADVANCED Travel & Tours, where or who is the winner of your overseas soccer competition held for the past months. We the public have a right to know. Thanks

*SO who played his part here? Even our local Namibian Newspaper Cup tournament wasn’t broadcast live on TV but through local radio. What went wrong with the planning?
Note: Nothing. There was no agreement to show the tournament live on TV but regular daily radio broadcasts were arranged. The final match was screened last night as advertised and the highlights will be shown at 14h00 on Saturday.

Responses to recent SMSes
From the Ondangwa Town Council
*ONDANGWA Town Council it is the Easter weekend. We planned to wash our clothes, clean our houses, and have friends over for lunch. Why haven’t we had water since the holiday started?
I AGREE with the SMS that over the Easter weekend our town did not have running water most of the time, this was not only over the Easter weekend but it has been like this since the 2nd of March 2012. According to NamWater, who are the custodians of water, the problem is due to the ongoing upstream challenges of electricity supply interruptions, and raw water canal remedial measures being undertaken in the Cuvelai area. On March 26, NamWater informed Council that water should be rationed until April 16. According to NamWater the request for the rationing is a precautionary measure to avoid total water supply shortage. Until such time that the water storage reservoirs in Ondangwa and other affected towns are restored to their sustainable level the water supplies within our town will continue to be interrupted. The water rationing will last until 16 April 2012 as indicated earlier and the water supply and closure periods sequence are as follows:
Morning: 05h00 - 09h00 - Open
Morning: 09h00 - 12h00 - Closed
Afternoon: 12h00 - 14h00 - Open
Afternoon: 14h00 - 16h00 - Closed
Evening: 17h00 - 21h00 - Open
Evening: 21h00 - 05h00 - Closed
Ondangwa Town Council is calling on all residents to use water sparingly until this water challenge has been resolved.

*IT’S not the Deputy Prosecutor General’s fault he walked free after a drinking and driving case. Police officials are corrupt and selective, so much so that they could not fine or throw him in a cell.
*THANKS a million Mike for your observation about the indecent exposure of a dead body by our most esteemed newspaper! I found that very repulsive and of course insensitive! Hope they make amends and prevent any future occurrence.
