Put them out!
*HORRIBLE picture of burnt rhino! May he have a better life in heaven!
Food or Thought
*LET us walk the talk! It is really embarrassing to be reminded again by the EU that Namibia needs a Rural Development policy in order to utilise available funds, while the Ministry charged with that responsibility is paying lip service and Government is mum on this important issue.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*CITIZEN Angula! With reference to your article in The Namibian of September 27 I am pleased that you agree with Joseph Stiglitz! Excess liberalisation of financial markets, as happened in Eastern Asia in the 1990’s, and the privatisation of rights to mineral resources including oil were the brainchild of the Washington Consensus! You hit the nail on the head! Well done and congratulations Citizen Angula!
– Your economics Buddy!
*TOP management packages and poor management ruin company finances not industrial action. As workers it’s our only tool to better our lives.
*$200 000 for boxing shorts. NamPower get serious.
Democracy
*I ARGUE that the former President of Zambia Rupiah Banda ought to be documented in African history for his maturity in the democratic process for accepting defeat by the opposition party. This is a very good example to other African ruling parties of countries such as Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ivory Coast and many others who rig elections or disregard the results.

From the House
*IT seems that laziness and unproductiveness boils down from the highest office to the streets of Katutura. If they are not on recess, then there is no quorum in Parliament. Bills are sitting that should have been discussed since 2006. Who is in charge of our Parliament? It does not reflect well on our political leadership. Please do something. Compared to other countries’ parliaments, ours is completely dead while we have so many social problems.
Politics
*AS a Swapo member I have no option but to agree with the RDP that my Government has completely lost its vision! A nation which has no money to feed its own people - some are living from the rubbish bins, others are dying in the streets from cold during winter – can afford to build a N$1 billion State House but not to create! And now the millions for the office of the First Lady whilst the billion dollar state of the art State House is under-utilised! Is this the strategic plan towards Vision 2030?
*IS Mr Siyauya trying to be the Julius Malema of Namibia?
Running the Show
Universal garment.
*FRIDAY is a ‘Jeans Day’ for Government employees. Easy for them to dodge. Mr President are you aware? Any policy? Act with immediate effect. They are not productive on Fridays.
*MINISTRY of Home Affairs how long does it take to get a passport through your regional offices? I have been waiting for the past five months for my passport.
*MINISTER of Home affairs your programme of sending abridged forms to Windhoek is very slow. We need our full birth certificates please.
*THE Government is spending a lot on road construction year after year, but the roads are of poor quality. The newly constructed Omunguelume road wasted taxpayers money. This road needs proper bridges not culverts. The bridges to be constructed at Ompumbu Rejoce and at Ndemutjavela should be of quality and big enough to allow water to flow through. They are too narrow they way they are being constructed now.
*DR Shipoh there are two NYS trucks that have been standing at a private garage in Tsumeb for more than a year now. Where is accountability sir?
Counting Heads
*AFTER the initial date we were asked to spend extra days doing Census administration work on condition that we would be compensated, but to no avail. We worked for seven days but the promise has not been kept. Will the PS please look into this issue.
– Concerned Census worker.
*NPC we fail to understand why the trainers of the enumerators have not been paid yet! And the Census is done.
Business as Usual
*TELECOM and Nampost must give a chance to small companies by dividing the tender for cleaning services. Those small branches must be given to SMEs. It’s unfair to give the whole tender to one person. One of the reasons they don’t want to give tenders to different companies is the difficulty with supervising them. It’s easy to say that when your stomach is full.
A Place to Call Home
*IT is distressing to read Kalili’s comments on the erf shortage issue. We the average Namibian people cannot afford to buy an erf in Windhoek or anywhere else and all he proposes is a loan with the bank and an auction? The erf prices in Namibia are ridiculously high and should be regulated by Government. No auctions should be allowed! Namibian people are unreasonably tolerant with these stupid laws that are making holes in our pockets!
Labour Issues
*NANTU is a disaster. I am one the unqualified teachers in Kavango Region. I am concerned about Nantu’s decision about bush allowances. Nantu decided to exclude unqualified and under-qualified teachers. My concern is we don’t pay different amounts to Nantu in membership fees.
– Teacher from Kavango
Education
*DR Iyambo and your deputy please came to GK Wahl Combined School in Kalkfeld because the community is concerned about what is happening. Kids are fighting every day and the school becomes a battlefield but nothing is done. Our kids are out of order. No discipline at all. We don’t know where this school is heading.
Health Matters
*WINDHOEK Central Hospital shame on the management. How can you have health workers struggling to shower? We can’t use the toilet, we can’t cook. I’ve been eating cereal for the past three days. Elevators are out of order. Fetching water downstairs is a hassle. Please bring back the water, I’m thirsty.
*DEAR Minister of Health or should I direct this to Namwater? We at the Central nurses home have been without water for two days now and no one is doing anything.
In and From the Regions
*OUR Government please help us in Caprivi Region. Our Town Council is weak on electricity supply, for example the big informal settlement has been without lights since 1998.
*KARAS Regional Council when are you going to give us power in our houses. Only the streets have lights. Why only the streets when everything has been budgeted for?
ACC Alert
*ACC can you investigate the Erongo Regional Office of Education. Certain people in management appoint their children in the workplace while qualified candidates are ignored.
Sporting
*UPDATE the Namibia Premier League website as a matter of urgency We are in the twenty first century!

Responses to recent SMSes
*THE so-called ‘bush and weeds’ at the Supreme Court happen to be lovely indigenous vegetation. Stop this racism against Namibian plants!
*I DISAGREE with the response in connection with speeding on September 27, speed causes accidents. No excuses. You can avoid more accidents by reducing your speed where necessary. Stick to the speed limit please. There is a reason for it.
*MY opinion is that speed is not the problem but the person behind the steering wheel. People grow and be responsible. Please!
*AS far as I am concerned PS Shapwa is not a previously disadvantaged citizen anymore. She has become an advantaged citizen by being appointed PS. So the resettlement scheme is not meant for her.
*I FULLY agree with the gentlemen about bringing back national service to instil discipline. Most of us who have gone through that system up to now do not own a gun. Firearms are not toys.
*SPCA before you collect my dog for barking and disturbing my neighbours at night, please give me advice on how to stop and control it from not barking at night.
*I STRONGLY support the idea of a state vet for Tura. Thumbs up. Brilliant proposal.
*THERE are always possible risks in medical procedures and it is understandable that, when a mishap does happen, people feel the way they do. The outcome will unfortunately never be 100% never.
