Food for Thought
*FORGET about reparations. Colonisation is a part of human history. Those with steel weapons always had advantage over those with wooden ones. And that continues until now. I don’t see it as right but that’s how it is.
– Filipovic.
*CAN someone tell me how they arrived at the valuation of houses? An old 3-bedroom house is sold for N$2.3 mill and said to be a good investment. All of a sudden you cannot get a house costing less then a million.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*TO Gwen Lister, the most unwavering Namibian. Your contribution to this country’s birth and growth is highly valued. You are an inspiration. Thank you.
*THANK you RA Swakop. I was surprised to see the way the pothole was repaired on Friday on the LH road. Please keep up that standard and do more.
– Dan, LH Mine
*I AM saddened and dismayed to read about all the fat cats who have been resettled to date! Indeed a clear testimony that absolute power corrupts absolutely! How do you resettle someone, who can afford to pay for his own land, whilst you have thousands of your own people who continue living from the rubbish bins. Your pensioners are living at below N$17 per day.
– Upeuatjike
*THE work of the company contracted to repair the road between Central Hospital and Katutura Hospital is sub-standard and money has been wasted again. Investigate please!
Can’t be comfortable?
*MEN who wear these pants which hang under the buttocks. Do you have any respect for yourself, your parents, your girlfriend?
Business as Usual
*MEAT Corporation of Namibia. The Government cannot afford to give away any of its own sectors like MeatCo, which was established through Act of parliament, to be privatised. MeatCo is a national asset and if given to wealthy people we are afraid that they will run MeatCo their own way and the majority will continue to suffer. It will be another boost to widening inequality. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Running the Show
*MINISTER J Ekandjo wants to close Independence Ave from the Kudu statue to Zoo Park. Question: Where must I park when you need to do business in that area?
Politics
*FOR the next presidential election all candidates campaigning to be president must get together for an interview to be broadcast on all radio stations and shown on TV. A panel must ask what they will do, what changes and future plans they have for the nation. Then the nation will see the one with great ideas and these must be recorded for future reference. They must be published so that every one knows them and stop sending Ministers around the country to represent parties.

*CAN the Ministry of Finance please answer? We customs officers came for basic training at Katima from various borders and regional offices. Now we have been booked to share rooms like school kids.
– Frustrated officer.
*MINISTER of Safety and Security and the Inspector General of Namibian Police please do something. When are we, the first 2010 intake, getting our backpay from the training? We are hungry. How many months is is it since we finished our probation on April 1, 2011 but we haven’t received anything. Give us our full salary.
*TO the National Planning Commission. Why are you so quiet? Some of us have not yet received our training money. Till when shall we wait?
City Fathers Please…
*DEAR City Fathers our people do laundry at ‘stroompie’. How safe is that water?
ACC Alert
*IT seems like some individuals are still using Government vehicles for their personal affairs. It is so common to see GRN, NDF and POL numbered plates at strange places during weekends and after hours. Please ACC stop them and investigate their trip authorities. We are tired of state vehicles’ abuse.
Education
*I REALLY support the idea of a uniform for teachers. Dr Iyambo do something. Female teachers make us uncomfortable as male colleagues. They dress badly.
*DR Abraham Iyambo teachers at Moses Garoeb are giving our learners two lists to collect money in the streets. If one gets lost, you pay N$20 and if the other is lost it is N$ 100.
*MINISTER of Education advice from a retired teacher with 36 years’ experience: do away with these many topics/themes to be covered for at least Grades 1 and 2. Let the teachers rather focus on teaching them handwriting, counting and reading skills.
*WE at Centaurus High School want the Minister of Education to help us please by repairing the school because everything is old. There is no hygiene.
In and From the Regions
*ONDANGWA Town Council this dump site area 20 metres from our homes is used as a latrine services dump. We are tired of the smell that comes from there every day and the rubbish burning that goes on every day.
*OSHAKATI Town Council what have you done to prepare the town for the upcoming rainy season? Or are we going to face floods again?
*OTAVI councillors, we have applied for loans to build houses for almost 15 years. We want changes please? Can we get help with this?
*NGWEDIVA Town Council how many times do you want us to beg you as residents to get street names?
*CAN anybody give input? Is the Ombalantu Baobab Tree Heritage Centre in Outapi town a community based tourism project (camp site) or is it an income generating project for the municipality? Community members are not benefitting from it only the Outapi Town Council.
Law and Order
*I REPORTED a case to the Katima Mulilo Police where I was assaulted by a woman. They told me that since the offender is a woman there is nothing they can do. She kept sending SMSes and insulting me and my whole family. I went back to the Police but still they told me that the law protects women. Do these officers know what domestic violence is all about?
*I THINK that the Namibian traffic officers should test drivers (even those who have licences) every two years to make sure that they are still capable.

Responses to recent SMSEs
*NAMIBIANS are ignorant. For five years now I’ve been buying quality toilet paper manufactured in Namibia by a Windhoek-based company called Elso Holdings, yet many people are going on about Namibia not having a toilet paper factory. This toilet paper is available in all major supermarkets in the country.
*IN an SMS published on October 7 King P alleged that the “newly appointed Chief of Defence Force has ordered soldiers from Otavi base to go do construction work at his NDW farm”. This allegation is patently false. The soldiers in question had asked to do work during their free time at a fee set by themselves. They were not ordered as alleged. Exposing corruption is laudable but false and baseless allegations aimed at tarnishing the reputations of decent and honest people does not advance the cause of fighting corruption.
*THERE are so many Namibians who don’t have shelters yet our Government is buying a house for the former Zambian president Dr Kenneth Kaunda and the Ark of Noah for Cuba while our people are eating from the dump site. Is this what our heroes fought for?
