SMSes for Friday 14 October 2011

SMSes Of The Day n NAMIBIA forget about Europe, the US and China as we have enough markets in Africa. Bring our African intellectuals back and we will help ourselves. We need the Tweyas and Iyambos to be in positions of power and we will make it without the US, Europe and China. Even Air Namibia would make more money by only catering for African markets. Africa wake up now because those nations want you to be asleep.

*NAMIBIAN leaders make us young ones work! We youth don't want agricultural products from China! We are ready to make our own!

Food for Thought
*WHEN petrol goes up, everything goes up. When it goes down, nothing goes down!

Bouquets
and Brickbats
*MINISTER Iyambo you are a great man. Wish there could be more like you. I agree you should move to Home Affairs and then the Presidency.

*MISTER President fly high while we die in shacks and rush to dustbins for food. Enjoy your new flashy jet.
n LEAVE Commander Shalli in peace.
– Seik
*THE turning down of a multi-billion investment by the Swakopmund Town Council is clear testimony that our country will never be ready for economic growth. Poverty and unemployment will remain high. Why can't the town council sell the land and use the revenue to service more land? Please review your decision.

*I WAS at Katutura Hospital this week! I was shocked. No running water in toilets or water to drink. Please Minister this is a health facility and it’s unhygienic! Take steps.
– Tangeni, Windhoek

*MINISTER Iyambo pay a surprise visit to the place where I stay and see the two rooms that I rent with my family of five. One room is to sleep in and the other to cook and a place for my children to sleep in. How do I prepare for the next day and help my children with school work? I am not motivated simply because my housing subsidy is not enough to buy a house. Help me please in God’s name.
Business as Usual
n WHAT is wrong with our leaders? Why would they even think of importing food from China? They know that Namibia’ s quality infrastructure is not well established to ensure that imported food is wholesome and safe for consumption. Believe me the Chinese food will end up in school hostels, hospitals, army camps and markets for the poor. We have had enough.
– Concerned food scientist, Walvis Bay.

*WE are part of the world recession and world economic crises. How can we spend money on jets now? The time will come when people will starve to death but still we waste money on luxuries. Government has lost track of its priorities and the needs of its people. We have also our own meat and fish, why should we import from China? What liberation bills do we still have to settle with China?

*SOME years ago Hidipo Hamutenya, then Minister of Trade and Industry, opened a Government sponsored toilet paper factory in Gobabis. What happened with this factory? Can the Ministry reply please?

*THE Namibia China trade pact to be signed reminds me of the baby formula, cooking oil and other chemical products like in toys made illegally in China. Please I want assurance from my Government that we will not be a dumping site for poison from that Republic. Does our NCCI have the capacity to deal with that? Feedback please.

Running the Show
*PLEASE Minister Geingob stop lecturing us on how adorable the Chinese nation is...

*ATTENDING access to land for business conference. Shame that the Minister is not here. How can we solve our problems if the Minister Jerry Ekandjo cannot even attend such an important event? Minister is the issue of land not important enough?

*THERE is a need to reshuffle top officials in our Government because they just talk too much about development. But we don’t have a factory to make matches or even toilet paper in Namibia. What type of development are they telling the people about?

Law and Order
*TO Namibian men who don’t support their kids financially and emotionally, just remember that you are the ones causing teenage pregnancies drug and alcohol abuse. Kids turn to these types of things because you fathers run away from your responsibilities. Just do the right thing and you won’t be taken to court for maintenance.

Education
*I AM a Namcol learner who wrote English at Khomasdal community hall. It’s like we had a jukebox to listen to.  The hall is too big. We told the invigilators that we could not hear but they did not do anything. The hall even had an echo even. If Dr Abraham Iyambo could look through the question papers for the centre NXE37  he will see that something was wrong. Please Dr Iyambo do something about it.

*CENTRE no NXE37. The Namcol learners who wrote English comprehension suffered and will score below average due to a poor sound system. Please Dr Iyambo intervene.

*LEARNERS are intimidated and threatened at Delta Primary School because of outstanding school fees. The poor learners were exposed in front of the whole school, told they’ll not get worksheets nor write exams  etc. Mr Iyambo learners are terrified of certain inconsiderate teachers!

Stick to teaching

*WE came for education not to date teachers! Dr Iyambo please investigate IIPUMBU SSS.

*I AM a learner of Augustineum Secondary School and I want the Minister please to visit our school again because the teachers are not following the Government’s rules. They are using corporal punishment beating us like mad animals here.

*CORRUPTION is a contagious disease in Namibia. Some teachers and cleaners no longer buy cleaning materials for their houses. They steal the green pine gel Government sends to schools and toilet paper as well. Secretaries are given goats to enrol children. It happened at Okahandja.

*WITH the implementation of Free Primary Education (FPE) to exempt parents from paying School Development Fund, where is Government going to obtain the funds to implement FPE? You always hear Government does not have enough funds  even to provide the most basic needs at schools. Taxpayers brace yourself for tax hikes.
– Von T

*THE event of naming a science lab for a Norwagian patriot was turned into a Swapo political rally by the MC and the Governor. They satisfied their political aspirations at the expense of the purpose of the event. They slapped both His Excellency and the Minister, who discouraged politics on school premises, in the face by chanting Swapo slogans during the event. What a shame!
– Concerned Teacher

Health Matters
*THE Minister of Health mostly travels to places which are nicely equipped leaving the Aussenkehr clinic unattended. How can two nurses cater for 25 000 people? A woman giving birth on the sports field? What will this lovely kid call his place of birth?

Labour Issues
*MINISTRY of Labour and Social Welfare please checks the rates private companies are paying their semi-skilled and skilled employees. It is below the Government rate.
– JM Geibeb

City of Windhoek
*CITY of Windhoek you have several several public toilets, especially the silver metallic ones, that don’t flush properly. I’ve noticed one common problem with all of them: the output water pressure is very low causing the flushing problem. Please look into the matter urgently.

In and From
the Regions
*DOES Uis really owe NamWater that much? How did they come to that amount if the water meter at the supplying reservoir was out of order for years? On the contrary how does NamWater owe Uis settlement for:  Use of facilities (office and equipment); maintenance of infrastructure eg repair of broken pipes by settlement employees on Government time and with settlement tools and use of settlement car &fuel. Please get your house in order. Investigate the core of the real problem before we, the community, are charged for your incompetence.
– Gees, Uis

*MUNICIPALITY of Otjiwarongo please we need water at the clay house.

*MINISTRY of Youth it’s time to build a multi-purpose centre at Otjiwarongo, the capital of the Otjozondjupa Region.

It goes everywhere

*OSHAKATI Town Council your town is a disgrace. Infrastructure has declined with dusty roads eg Ompundja is a health hazard. There are no recreational facilities eg public swimming pool and park. Potholes are everywhere. Omatala open market is filthy. Relocation of flood victims takes forever. Residential erven are not properly done. What exactly do you do in your offices? We are fed-up with incompetence.
n THE state of the beautifully located hostel in Swakopmund is appalling! It is a health threat and not fit for human habitation. Maybe the second presidential jet can be sold to invest in the environmental and social heath of the carriers of Vision 2030?

* THE Mariental Municpality has new water cards. Now only people with old cards will be helped but those with no cards, but with the money, must wait. Till when? We need water.

Sporting

Making it even more popular.

*CAN someone please establish a newspaper for sport only? I think it will bring even more income when foreign people buy it. Look at other countries. Leaders in sport make it popular by establishing magazines and newspapers that others to their countries.
Note: Namibia does have a monthly magazine called Namibia Sport.

Please Help

Hart van Windhoek

*FNB you stated that all amounts under N$30 at Hart van Windhoek would not be refunded but given to charity. How much was collected and which charity will get it?

Service Please
*IT’S time for MTC to start refunding BlackBerry users for not being able to access the Internet while they have paid for it!
– Concerned BlackBerry user!!
* WHY do MTC and Telecom 3G devices work faster in Windhoek than anywhere else?

Responses to
recent SMSes
*IN response to an SMS complaining about tap water quality from a customer in Windhoek West, the City of Windhoek did not find anything untoward during routine sampling. The supply reservoir and WW sampling points will be sampled today. If the contact of the customer is available  a sample will be taken at the specific venue to see whether there is a problem.
– Piet du Pisani City of Windhoek.

*ALLOW me to give an update to my brothers and sisters who have taken their valuable time to respond to my SMS about my gambling problem. Thanks a lot. I am doing great now and I have not gambled for two months because of your prayers and advice. To those who called or SMSed calling me names, insulting and making making jokes with me, God forgive you and remember today it is me tomorrow it’s you. It is not only me and those who are close to me who have suffered through gambling, but I believe there are lot of families who suffered like mine have.

*IF parents see to it that their children comply with the school rules, their children won’t be sent home to shave off their beards or cut their hair etc.

* CONCERNED parents and teachers should be taught the grievance procedures. They are the most inactive members at a school. We are breaking down our education with all these so-called concerned people, especially teachers. Go and look at their results.
