Everything from broken printers, progress reports, food shortage in hostels, hygiene...they want the Minister himself to go there. There are a lot of people working under him. Let’s be realistic.

GOOD job well done by Chief Justice and his team on the election appeal. At least that’s a good indication that people can still rely on the courts, even though the verdict took long to be known. It’s now for the High Court to look firmly into the case, for people to have trust and faith in the justice system.

ONGWEDIVA Town Council! You have done well so in terms of marketing the town, more especially through the just-ended Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair. However directing our friends and family members to our houses remains a challenge. Honestly speaking one fails to understand the good reason behind keeping the streets unnamed. If there are no names, then number the streets please!
NAMIBIA sends 30 athletes to Delhi to compete in the (Commonwealth) Games. Just for safety in numbers the Olympic Committee adds another 11 officials to the junket. Who pays?
THUMBS up to whoever took the decision to stop the operation of the bar in the main street of Grootfontein town. The same should apply to the bar in Otjiwarongo’s town because it is very dangerous to the road user. The municipality of Grootfontein should allow good investors for development purposes and minimise or totally stop issuing certificates of fitness for too many shebeens and bars in the town.

GIPF Saga
NO, don’t terminate the GIPF Board, directors, managers etc. Hold them responsible. That would be fair and reasonable!

IS GIPF a cash loan (business)? With all the lost millions at GIPF, one wonders why management and the trustees are still in office?
CAN Primus Hango of GIPF and the managers responsible for the mess and corruption please resign or get the boot with immediate effect. Can they also pay back our money? The whole saga is very embarrassing. We have lost confidence in the GIPF management and its board of directors.
GIPF you have invested a lot of millions in failing projects and businesses – why not risk funding youths who want to start small businesses?

Politics
WHY do we have to downgrade our country by making politics a ‘dream profession’ just to have power and position to abuse for self-gain. We are advised to become engineers but in the end its the politicians and their beneficiaries that have all the benefits.

ERONGO Red why 100 per cent increase? Shame on you.

ERONGO Red it seems you increased your prices with 100 per cent rather then 18 per cent. How do you justify a sudden increase of N$500 dollars while my average usage for the past 6 months was only N$600 dollars? All Narraville residents are crying foul and you just don’t care.
I ALSO want the City of Windhoek to explain what ‘interim’ means on our water bills! We want feedback on this issue.
I ALSO have a problem with my water bill. How on earth can I pay a N$2 000 water bill for only one month, excluding electricity? I am in Katutura and there is no water leaking in my house. Please help us out.
Business as Usual
LÜDERITZ– based Seaflower White Fish Corporation is also a government owned entity (SOE) but it seems some board members are appointed for life. Minister Esau can a new board be appointed so as to trigger innovation to save this entity going into the future please?
GOVERNMENT should put levies on raw exports eg copper, diamonds, uranium etc if they want investors to erect factories to manufacture finished products. Then we can talk about employment creation.

MINISTRY of Education please speed up your loan money distribution for us students at the Polytechnic of Namibia. It’s now high time that we pay back the money we borrowed for academic reasons.

MINISTER of Lands please dissolve the Land Board in Katima. They don’t involve people in land issues and this is causing conflict in the community.
MINISTRY of Defence please improve Oserekaze military camp. It is not suitable for training purposes. It really needs proper renovation.
PUBLIC Service Management is the worst government agency when it comes to effectiveness. PSM has been taking three years or more to take decisions. They are providing sub standard service.
City Fathers Please...
THE City of Windhoek should consider buying automatic buses since the city is becoming very conjested and those will be easier to operate. This is the norm in other developed and developing countries and we should follow suit and do away with these manual donkeys.
PLEASE Municipality do something. We in Audrey Street, Greenwell Matongo, are tired of power being off every day.

MINISTRY of Works please do something to the gravel road between Rehoboth and Schlip. We get a lot of damage to our cars.

I DON’T understand why the Omafo-Outapi gravel road is not tarred. This is one of the busiest roads in the North. Regional councillors are failing us.
ON Sunday I travelled from Oshakati to Grootfontein. As it was a weekend there were many cars coming from the North. But to my surprise between Ondangwa and Tsumeb there were no traffic officers to monitor the road users. That is why some drivers were doing motor racing and caused very bad accidents.
Sporting
THE NFA lacks basic organisational skills to build a competent national team. The latest performance by the Brave Warriors says it all.
WHO knows the players best? Coach or the public? The players in Angola have been called up a couple of times and they did not show up. If they don’t want to play for their country then they don’t deserve to be called.

TOM Saintfiet is a good coach. Our very own NFA is killing our good game. I am tired of the NFA and (Barry) Rukoro and something has to be done. How long should our football suffer? We need new minds in the NFA.

BRAVE Warriors for life! And I totally agree with the person who says we must support rugby, cricket, boxing and basketball in Namibia. Let’s have regional competitions. Let’s have our own mini world cups each year in different regions like The Namibian Newspaper Cup. Also hold workshops in and around Namibia. Let the youth attend courses so they can help out where there is a need. Thanks.

Labour Issues
MATERNITY leave. I would like to ask about maternity leave for teachers. There are some teachers who have money deducted from their salary when they take maternity leave but some have no deductions, they receive money from Social Security and also get their full salary from the Government. Now we female teachers would like the Ministry of Education to send a current circular letter about maternity leave to schools as soon as possible
I AM concerned about the use of cellphones during working hours. Employees are constantly on the cellphones. Will it be unfair if I don’t allow the workers to use them during work, because it is stealing working hours. Please help!
Service Please
NATIS Windhoek it is pathetic that you don’t have an enquiry counter for general enquiries. The security guards have to assist and they have to regulate the people. What are we paying for?
NATIS we have been standing here since 07h30. Please employ more people to serve the clients. One cashier is not enough. We don’t have to tell you that.
MTC! Our network is very poor in Opuwo. Please do something.
And Justice for All
SERIOUSLY speaking our justice system cannot be trusted in the hands of magistrates and judges only. Something is fishy somewhere. I have carefully, for long, analysed that there is an acute imbalance and inconsistency in the way judgements are given despite the similar nature of cases. The Shaduka case is mind-boggling. We need to review and redesign our justice system before it becomes irrelevant if not already so.
TWENTY-five years ago I was attacked and almost raped and strangled to death. Even though it was that long ago I can still remember the fear and humiliation I felt in vivid detail and I still fear walking alone on quiet streets. Surely all rapists should get a prison sentence for at least as many years that a woman feels this terror in her heart!

I’M responding to a ‘grateful customer of Shoprite Oluno’. Well, it is good advice to the entrepreneurs, but my concern is a pregnancy lasts a number of months. How will the cashier know who is pregnant and who is not?
Note: One can obviously only tell in the later stages of pregnancy and that is when the woman would really appreciate not having to queue for lengthy periods.

NBC kindly assist to air sound pollution via ‘Talk of the Nation’. Children grow through sleeping, studying needs concentration, Namibia needs to attain a considerable pass rate. People need to be sensitised to the importance of silence as it may be the means to listen to oneself.
WHY do patients at Khomasdal Clinic allow themselves to be chased out in the hot sun during lunch hour? Just refuse and sit tight! Then what will the staff do? Bring in the police? People of colour, stop being so submissive; stand up for your rights!
