Food for Thought
* WHY can’t the traffic authorities and Natis introduce a way of attending classes for the licence seekers instead of having people learn individually?
Bouquets and Brickbats
* THANKS to the sign language students from Otjiwarongo for learning as fast as I was teaching them. I hope they can communicate easily with the hearing impaired now.

* I AM a visitor from Austria to your beautiful Namibia. I took someone to Katutura Hospital emergency dept on Saturday, February 27 at 14h00 and was greeted with horrific scenes. There were a lot of stab wounds and assaults. Nurses were not able to handle this, there was no space to move, patients were insulting the poor overworked nurses. Whoever is in charge provide more staff in emergency to make the workload easy for them. Health education regarding alcohol abuse is very important.

* THE opinion pieces in The Namibian stimulate healthy debates. Myself and others are fortunate to be able to participate. However I am of the opinion that these debates, if broad-based, will greatly contribute towards improving the status quo. Perhaps in the coming elections the thinking vote will increase. Not so Gwen?
A Place to Call Home
* SMS of the day, February 26. It’s true that we are exploited re renting and selling prices! I have been trying to buy/rent since 2002! In the area where I need to stay, the prices are unaffordable!
* I DO agree with the SMS on sky-high rates for accommodation in Windhoek. Please look into this. There needs to be regulation as the bigger part of our income goes on a roof that does not belong to us!
* ESTATE agents are just after money! They don’t care how much they charge for renting/selling! Why is a third party needed? It’s like APS! Owners can lease and sell by themselves! Get rid of estate agents.
Running the Show
* NAMIBIAN Government please improve our elder citizen pension because it’s very low. Some of them own houses where they also pay water and electricity while the pension is only N$470. What can a person do with such an amount of money? These days everything is very expensive.

* A PERFORMANCE appraisal and rewards system should be implemented, geared towards sharpening service delivery of individual ministries and not only employees. This will ensure that the management cadre of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture, from the Permanent Secretary to all Directors and their deputies, will either shape up or ship out. The current management and leadership fiasco is leading towards quality services not reaching the most remote areas in the regions. Regional officials may come up with excellent work plans and proposals, yet they cannot go through because there is constantly no funds, but you always see Head Office staff cruising the country for non-essential matters.
* MINISTER of Safety and Security, your police officers are undisciplined, and it starts with the unit commanders. We all follow by example. If the head is a weakling, the body will be the same.
Politics
* THERE are dangerous hypocrites in our midst using official platforms to spread propaganda like Goebbels of the Hitler regime. The only threats this country faces are unemployment, hunger and disease, period.
– FKK, Windhoek.
* I WANT to make a call on President Hifikepunye Pohamba to include Johan de Waal in the six law makers.
– Rodney Katjiri, Katima Mulilo
And Justice for All
* PLEASE give our leaders wisdom. A man kicks a pregnant woman in her stomach, stabs her in the back and comes close to slitting her throat. He gets a prison sentence of four years, yet a man who steals cattle gets no less than 10 years imprisonment. Please Lord, help this nation.

Education
* TO the principal of HTS. When are the children going to receive their outstanding textbooks for accounting, maths, Afrikaans and English? It’s almost the end of the second month and the children are without books in Grade 8, but we pay school fees. Please solve that problem because the children cannot do homework without textbooks.

* CAN the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry please say what happened to the subsidy that used to be offered to Neudamm and Ogongo students. If my memory serves me well, they said it changed accounts from the colleges to Unam. But according to them, this is not the case. Please will you clarify this matter once and for all about the conditions of the merger, because students, the most important stakeholders, are in the dark!
* I LIVE with a teacher. She sets and mark papers till late in the evenings, week in week out. Plus extras over weekend. Working 07h00 to 16h00 will be a blessing.
* PEOPLE should understand that there are married couples living legally as students at the Unam hostels and people are allowed to visit their husband and wife. Or do you need to finish your degree so you can see your spouse?
* EDUCATION Minister Nangolo Mbumba why do you pay other public servants extra for any duties they perform after 17h00 or on Saturdays for example, employees of the Ministry of Works and Transport, while teachers spend weekends and even the so-called two or three weeks holidays setting up question papers and marking. In the near future please appoint permanent markers and setters for external examinations. Ja nee, we don’t enjoy teaching any more especially when you sit with 42 learners and you realise people don’t appreciate your daily work. God help us teachers and forgive them for they know not what we actually do.
In and From the Regions
* CAN Omusati Regional Council, Outapi Constituency, tell us when Otsinka and Osheedhiya will get electricity?
* TO the CEO Opuwo town, brother please we need public toilets.
* I WOULD like to ask the Minister of Health to renovate the clinic at Omugulugombashe and also to build a room for the nurse.
* PLEASE, Shoprite Ondangwa, stop spraying your shop during trading hours.
* CAUTION drivers using the road between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo, there is a pothole which will leave you with a huge bill.

* CAN someone please teach the Helao Nafidi accountants and show them how to calculate water readings. In January our water total was N$260,69 and we paid the whole amount. But when the February water use total came it included the N$260,69 and the new reading total, which we think is wrong. But they keep doing it. Please help. The CEO of Helao Nafidi Town Council must solve this.

* MALTAHOHE Village Council is the biggest loser, people are receiving free water and electricity but the technical department does not care as long as they receive their bonus and salary.
City Fathers Please...
Carefully through the traffic
* I AM a cyclist and whenever I see a municipal bus I feel uncomfortable because of the way they drive. Can you please refer me to the number where to complain?
– Contact the City of Windhoek’s municipal fleet division on 290 2013 and ask who you should speak to.

Sporting
* MR JJ DOESEB! The teams in the Namibian Premier League are so few! Why can we not have at least 14 teams instead of the current 12! That way we will have a lot of players for the national team to choose from and there will be more competition! I would like to see this happen the next season.
– Soccer lover.
* WHEN will the northern stream First Division kick off? NFA please do something, we are running out of time.
– Concerned player.
Please Help
* WAKE up. Namibian financial institutions like showing off by donating funds while their employees and citizens are struggling.

* ABOUT fines on swearing, it is done by Traditional Authority. If you swear at a person mentioning his or her member from the navel up, it is N$20; if it is from the navel down, the fine is N$300.
– Thank you for your explanation. As a matter of interest, are these penalties not only applicable in the Traditional Authority areas?

* GIPF it will be very good if you extend the biometric registration even by three months. Few people registered. I saw it on our system. Consider this please!
NBC
* DR (Ben) Mulongeni is continuously undermining his credibility. He is a tool for a certain clique. Why doesn’t he let those people conduct the interviews themselves?
* WHEN I open The Namibian and go to the daily SMSes I cannot help wondering about how many people complain about the NBC programme content, yet a lot of them claim not to be watching NBC when asked to pay their TV licence.
Lost and Found
* I ABNER Neputa lost my documents in the Windhoek area. If found please call me at 081-216-1625 or 081-149-2929.
