Food for Thought
* I WOULD encourage the creation of local investors who are unselfish, non-exploitative even in a free-market economy, because that may help towards a caring and sharing society. Hence, can you provide us with key politicians who benefitted from the national cake, with their genuine investments, farms, ‘he-beens’, enterprises, good jobs, social responsibilities, etc. No matter from which party!
– HH /Honeb

Well done Brave Warriors!
* CONGRATS (Brave) Warriors! You showed Bafana, who under-estimated us with our population, that we are apparently a small nation, but they must know that it’s not their 48 million nor our 2 million people who will be part of the game but only 22 players chasing one ball. Let’s now take it from there.
– Gregory Ukongo
* SHAME on the SABC commentators for not showing our Brave Warriors the respect they deserve. We matched their Bafana Bafana in every aspect of the game and could have won. To Mr Tom (Saintfiet) there is no such thing as a small nation in football, our players showed that. To (SA coach Carlos) Pererrira admit our team was the better on the day, Oliver Risser was the the Man of Match not an SA player,
– Lazarus Bati Hipondoka
* WHY do I have to watch South Africa’s SABC1 to watch my country playing soccer? Come on NBC and One Africa.
– Robin Tyson
* WHAT a shame. Brave Warriors have no pride. They don’t know their national anthem.
* BELIEVE me we will never qualify for big cups with this soccer coach.
Speaking with your hands
* THANKS to the Oshana Regional Commander for sending police officers for sign language training. Please also consider recruiting young people who use sign language themselves.
– Sgt Ndii
* NAMCOL your entrepreneurship textbooks or study guides for Grade10 learners are excellent study material. When can we buy them for our full-time learners?
* I AM a 21-year-old lady and I just want to thank The Namibian for front pages of the early editions. Reading them gives me a slight feeling of what the atmosphere was like in those days. And because of that I can relate to my parents on the issues and I can now have something to add when they talk about the past. The feeling is ecstatic.
* NAMPOL: Commissioner Kashihakumwa when will you put on your Police Band Show again. Those guys are great.
– Law-abiding, Oshakati
* TO Gwen Lister or whoever is responsible for publishing daily SMSes, why don’t you like to display the SMSEs that are in support of Swapo Party? You accuse NBC of being biased, and your newspaper? I wonder if you will publish this SMS.
Note: Come on now, this lament is a tired one! We publish a selection of sms’s of all viewpoints and we’re always open to criticism ourselves. Libellous text messages cannot be published, regardless of who sends them. – Ed
* WHY must the taxpayers pay for this expensive toothless dog called the Anti-Corruption Commission?
* LEO Building in Robert Mugabe Ave – why chop down a beautiful enormous indigenous fig tree to make an entry road when you can shift the entry?
Politics
* PRIME Minister Nahas Angula doesn’t seem to get when it comes to parties formed along tribal lines. Why not look at it like this. They are doing this because they feel isolated. What I advise him to do, for his part, is to make all people feel included in Government activities.
* RIGHT Honourable PM, any political formation on the African continent is formed along tribal lines. Namibia is not an exception.
* THE Namibian must source an English version of the DAS report. We want to see if our politicians’ fears are founded or not.
The Hand That Feeds
* (EVILASTUS) Kaaronda needs ... to see reality. Namibia belongs to all Namibians, something you can’t swallow. Twenty years after Independence and you are still blaming the whites for all the social evils affecting our people today but yet fail to blame those who stole the N$100 million, N$650m, N$30m, N$3m. With such an attack we have just thrown the policy of national reconciliation out of the window.
* CORRECT me if I’m wrong but it seems like our home boy Evilastus Kaaronda is watching too much SABC. He is trying to imitate the outspoken Julius Malema. ANCYL President Malema can pay once he has been sued but what about you my brother? Is it us workers who will foot the bill?
– Die Leeu
* EVILASTUS Kaaronda, as a white Swapo voter, am I still allowed to vote Swapo? I thought Swapo was a multi-racial party, now I see it is only for black people.
* MR E. Kaaronda (NUNW), please think before opening your mouth. Rather do your job and take care of union members. Let wise people do what’s not your job.
Twenty Years Later
* NAMIBIANS, can the Government donate the N$2 million budgeted for the 2010 Independence celebrations to orphans, old pensioners to ease their burden only for this year after 20 years of Independence please? How can we celebrate our poverty, our unemployment of 20 years with N$2 million?
– Shiko
In and From the Regions
* NAMPORT: Why is there not tighter scanning security at that place? Heaven knows what might be in those containers? Drugs, guns who knows what?
* WHAT a mess! Corruption in Namibia is now endemic. Rural development is in a state of confusion without visionary leadership and small towns such as Karibib and Khorixas, with no strong economic base, are slowly dying and left to their own devices without any Government policy strategy on how to stimulate local economic development as a rescue.
* NHE we are in need of houses in Gobabis. Please do something.
* PLEASE help with power in Ariamsvlei.
* THERE is a power failure at Ariamsvlei. The border post is without power. We are very disappointed in your service.
* NGOs in Kunene-North, please advertise your vacancies for transparency.
– Migu
We need more nets
* RED Cross Society, please provide mosquito nets in the locations of Okahandja, because the infants are suffering at night from mosquitoes. I am worried because this will cause the transmission of malaria. Nets protect our future generation from malaria and death.
– Kalihonda Maurus
* EENHANA Town Council, please tell the owner of the doves at the new NHE houses to keep them in the cage. I am tired of doves waking me up every day. They also dirty my yard. Educate your people about town life, Eenhana is not a farm please.
* MR Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works in Swakopmund, some workers get drunk at work or stay away from work without valid reasons. This has been going on for some time. Please do something. This office serves all the community. Why are no steps taken?
Taxi Talk
* THE owner of taxi Y95 needs to teach his driver manners. He almost caused an accident by getting back onto the road without indicating or checking out for other road users. Instead of an apology he went into a rage shouting obscenities and making obscene gestures. Is there somewhere to report such taxi drivers?
* PLEASE taxi driver of C15 improve your service and your attitude, you are overloading.
* CAN Nabta tell us how much we should pay from the Eros robots behind Government Park to Unam and back please.
Education
* SCHOOLS are violating the rights of children, especially denying children access to schools because of school fees and demanding payment in order to be accepted. They should face the consequences of human rights violations and non-compliance with the Education Act and the Constitution. Remember we have the Office of the Ombudsman. Make schools accountable for the rights of our children.
* POVERTY remains ongoing for poor Namibians due to the education system where our parents must buy the stationery. They can’t afford it and they earn only a little for family consumption. Something should be done please.
* TEACHERS do your work. How can a teacher write a letter to a parent that the parent must teach her kid how to read. Teachers are trained and have skills how to teach learners. Don’t confuse parental involvement with a teacher’s job description.
* WHY should teachers leave at 16h00? How will the kids benefit from that. As a teacher I use my admin periods to do admin as well as after school. We completed our education long ago; it’s the kids who need more time with books not us and if they leave at 13h00 who do I teach up to 16h00? Senseless isn’t it? Let’s address the problem and stop attributing the kids’ failure to the teachers while we know that cellphones, drugs, alcohol and other stuff are the fashion for our kids nowadays. Parents please get involved and stop using the school as a dumping site. People like Christoph Maletsky should stick to what they know. I wonder if he has a clue of what it means to be a teacher. And this SMS is also for those sitting in their air-conditioned offices who are talking nonsense.
* WE teachers specifically working in rural area are sick and tired of empty promises by Government. Can The Namibian find out for us when we are going to get our bush allowances from the Ministry of Education. We are struggling and and teaching in dilapidated schools.
* THE Ministry of Education must seriously shape up its policy of promotion from Grade 10 to Grade 11. Teachers for Grade 11 and 12 are put under extraordinary pressure to produce As to Ds including in English which is very difficult. Just how can you expect a teacher to teach 85 per cent of learners who have been promoted with only 23 points and an F in English to pass with A to D especially in English? If a learner had problems mastering basic skills how can you expect that learner to master high level skills? Please if you want learners to pass Grade 12 with A to D and 25 or 26 points to go to higher institutions, the promotional requirements from Grade 10 should be high. They should at least pass with 25 points and a D in English and not with 23 and an F English as is currently the case. Please Ministry of Education respond!
General
* NOT everyone driving NDF cars is a soldier. Some are civilians are working at the Ministry of Defence. Anyway as long as you carry out your assigned task properly it is commendable.
Labour Issues
* NAFAU must come to Ovitoto. We are not getting our salaries. Please help.
And Justice for All
* Pugalnanthy the Sri Lankan suspect in a massive fraud case has skipped bail. Well my question is: What did you expect? He is not Namibian! Of course he will run my friend. A Namibian is awaiting trial for a petty crime and guess what? No bail!.
– Die Leeu
NBC
* NBC-TV managers, keep the presenter who hosted One on One on March 3. He should continue. We enjoyed your approach. You are critical and logical.
* BRING bring back Dr Ben Mulongeni! Some of us were enjoying the damage he was doing to himself and the Swapo Party.
Please Help
I have lost my car
* MY car was bumped by a drunk man on December 6, 2009. His alcohol level indicated 1,10. Nampol officers took him from scene. The next day when I went to the police station they said he was released because there was no doctor at hospital! Since then I have lost my car! When I ask the officer he says he submitted a case to the court. Can anyone can help? My number 081-228-8451.
Health Matters
* PLEASE HR Unam when are you going to appoint a second nurse at the main campus? One nurse not enough for thousands of students
Sporting
* I SUPPORT the SMS on Tuesday for teams in our elite league to be at least 14 rather than the current 12 teams! What can be done is, this season no teams must be relegated and two teams must be promoted to make the total 14. Football bosses please do something about this, it will be good for our Namibian soccer.
Who has some info?
