Food for Thought
n DEMOCRACY my foot! Our nation is just not preaching what the Constitution says. Most is just gossip, bad mouthing, back-stabbing before the truth. By the time the truth comes out that innocent person has been completely destroyed. Be careful what you say or do because next time it could be you.

n THANKS FNB Swakop for the service that you give us at the Truck Port.
n SO now the Namibian Police are eating the dog food meant for the sniffer dogs and the dogs are going hungry! What is Namibia coming to? No wonder I prefer animals to people. These dogs are protecting us citizens and this is the thanks they get? Please do an article on this issue!
n WHEN any ruling party member or supporter takes a swipe at The Namibian newspaper or its reporters it becomes a headine the next day in bold black and is called an attack. When RDP chased NBC from its rally in Okahandja Gwen, Max, ya Nangolo and their reporters are mum about it. Believe me or not you are biased?
All in the Family
n AT last someone who says what I have been saying. When will the women begin to realise that having more than two children is a disaster. You cannot fulfil all your obligations towards them. You make them feel inferior and many other things.
–A retired teacher
n THE SMS as to realistic family planning will lift the future nation out of poverty. Having unplanned/unwanted children is a world catastrophe. Let’s be a leader in having as many children that can be fed, clothed and educated. Lift the standard of life for all.

Okahandja Poll
n I DON’T care if Okahandja residents never have water, power or any infrastructure again. If they cannot make the effort to go and vote, they must suffer in silence and never expect sympathy from the rest of the country again.
n JOSEPH Kauandenge is right. This so-called coalition of parties is really nonsense. I also don’t see any reason why the opposition parties have to regard RDP as their messiah. I think you have learned a lesson from Okahandja by-election. We as the supporters were not in favour of their candidate. Why should our votes be sold like that by party’s leaders?
n NAMIBIANS let us wake up and be responsible citizens. I am surprised at the high turnout at voter registration but low turnout at the polls. This happened at Tobias Hainyeko and recently at Okahandja. I call upon HE Hifikepunye (Pohamba) and his Cabinet to pass a law addressing this problem because these people are not proud Namibians and regard all our leaders from the ruling party and opposition parties as useless!
– Utwilo waShikonda
n I AM really puzzled. The credibility of the ECN is questioned. Can they run elections? They ran one in Okahandja, did they stick to the rules? The article made only p.3 of The Namibian in terms of prominence. Is it right?
Politics
n SINCE December some newspapers have been feeding us with selective names to be included in the new Cabinet. By using our names you may make it difficult for us to be considered by the President. If you want to help him go to him or give him options from the 54 names. Stop these undermining activities and be inclusive and patriotic. Do not compromise our good names with the agenda of a non-Ovambo president.
– Patriotic reader
n THERE are so many calls made to the president of Swapo Party to include Hon (McHenry) Venaani into the group of six lawmakers to be appointed by the Namibian President. Does Hon Venaani believe in the ideology of Swapo Party? Please find out and give feedback.
– Theo Gurirab
n I would like to advise Productive Namibian to tell Hon Venaani to join Swapo if you want him to get a seat in Parliament.
– PLAN fighter
n PRESIDENT (Hifikepunye) Pohamba please appoint Hon Venaani among the six MPs under your constitutional mandate.

Running
the Show
n I WISH parliamentarians could be as serious with important issues the way they are serious with their benefits at the end of their terms of office.
n I AM calling upon the Ministry of Defence to let the public know when the names of people who applied to the Ministry will be advertised?
n THE same sub-commitee that prevented tour guides from entering Namibia is only approving applications brought in by certain people and from one group only. What is the Minister of Home Affairs doing to stop this?
Education
n SO many companies and individuals donated towards Haiti and thousands of dollars were raised which is good. I am a teacher at a struggling school with 90 per cent orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs). We asked for donations from various companies to buy educational equipment but did not receive a single cent. Is the education of Namibians not important?
– AA
Should they be at school?
n AS we all know, charity begins at home. In the first place children are not allowed to bring cellphones to school and as for calculators, there is a specific time in the year that only high school learners are allowed to use calculators. It’s your children. Are you interested enough to check the contents of your child’s school bag before they leave for school?
– Concerned teacher.
n RESPONDING to the SMS dated February 2010 on the situation regarding Unam hostels, what was said is all true. A person or fellow student visiting finds males or boyfriends in a dormitory room assigned to females. Sometimes, both male and female students share the same dormitory. Alcoholic drinks are brought into the hostels so easily. It’s like a person shoplifting from a store with no guard standing at the entrance. Unam hostel management knows this but doesn’t do anything. Unam hostels are not like those of the Polytechnic which have reservations about a person of the opposite sex entering the dormitory. It’s puzzling that Poly has rules and regulations that are well enforced, but Unam hostels seem to be run by students who do what they want to do, whichever way they want to. What a disappointment!
n CAN the PRO of the Ministry of Education please confirm if the accreditation section of theNQA will be moved to NTA. We also hear that NQA management is under investigation, what is it about.
n CAN the Government please also grant bursaries to us younger children Grade 1-12. Our parents don’t work
– TB
n HON (David) Namwandi of IUM! Are you aware that we third year part-time student haven’t started classes yet? Every time we find the lecturer has already gone, some of us don’t have a lecturer even. Please do something we have paid our money.
– Concerned student.
n COULD somebody explain to us why CES (Unam centres) have not distributed study materials since we registered? You are delaying our studies. When are we going to receive it?
n MASTERS of education policies and acts, is there any act under which a principal of a school can be removed though a vote of no confidence? Some of the principals are ruining schools and teaching and learning is affected immensely. The way out would be to have them shipped out because they fail to shape up.
The Hand that Feeds
n WE are very quick to want to chuck out Germans as if we’ve not been gratefully receiving assistance from them. Outsiders (German and others) have helped us more than our own government!
n IT’S really great to be a German-speaking Namibian these days! Africa hates us because we are “Germans” and the “real” Germans despise us because to them we are even more primitive than East Germans. I think I’ll start a Society for the Prevention of Emotional Cruelty to German-Namibians (SPECRUGENA).
In and From
the Regions
n KATIMA Mulilo town municipality. Why are the gravels roads in town full of potholes? When will these be fixed and when will these gravel roads became tar roads?
n LET 2010 be a year of caring for all office bearers in Omusati region please.
– Shoni
n PLEASE Outjo Municipality do something about your streets. They are dusty, they are not tarred and the town is dirty. Even the cemetery is full of grass. What development do you bring to this small town?
n NBC could you please bring back the Oprah Winfrey Show, and we are still waiting for the One Africa channel here at Mariental.
n KARAS Radio Keetmans please stop playing ‘Red Wine’ on air it has a bad influence on my community!
n CAN Cenored please send qualified electricians to Khorixas! Our things are burning because our lines were over loaded. We have been without electricity for the whole weekend. CEO if you are nor concerned about us the customers please resign.
City Fathers Please...
n I DON’T know whom to tell about the taxi rank at Wernhil Park. Watch out there you may die by being beaten up by taxi drivers, because they decide for you which taxi to climb into otherwise you end up fighting with them.
NBC
n RADIO Otjiherero has a serious problem with their sound controllers, can the line managers look after this please!
n NBC TV you have repeated the same episodes, particularly the soap ‘Generation’ so many times. I am referring to Friday 26 February as a recent example. It is very frustrating rushing to watch ‘Generations’, only to find it is a repeat. Please change and be committed to your work, we pay our TV licences so we deserve to be treated with respect! How is it possible that you don’t notice your mistakes? Please it must be the last time, thank you!
Service Please
n CAN the person who sent the SMS on Mariental Woermann Brock and Shoprite please call me on 081-448-1470
n AFTER being seated for dinner at Cattle Baron Maerua Mall on Saturday, we spent 30 minutes sitting without any service. Amazing!
ACC Alert
n HON Nickey (Iyambo) you will not believe it but the police vehicles in Gibeon are taxis. Please ACC investigate.
n I AM a female police officer in Omusati region. I am very disturbed by the behaviour of the station commander of (name supplied) station. During 2008 he fathered a child with one of his secretaries. This time around one of his administrators is expecting his child. Is this part of his job description? Is he there to run the station or to prove his manhood. Is this not abuse of office? Mr (Sebastian) Ndeitunga please act accordingly. Otherwise ACC smell the coffee.
n The ACC must investigate how on earth people who joined up in 1986-1987 have received envelopes, while those in the first and second categories (1958-1979) have not yet. What’s really going on in the Ministry of Veterans Affairs?
– Dr Kan
Health Matters
n I SUGGEST that every vehicle on the Namibian roads must be fitted with a first aid kit. This might sound impractical, but if a regulation were passed and made it a a requirement for a road worthy (certificate), just like the red triangle, then everyone would abide to it. If you have been to an accident, you will agree that all the people help (with the exception of professionals like paramedics and police officers) do not wear gloves. What is the risk of an accident helper contracting HIV-AIDS then?
n MEASLES is also in Oshana.
Labour Issues
n I CAN’T understand why each and every day, when it comes to job advertisements, they only ask for people who have 5 or 3 years’ experience! What about those who have just came out from training institutions but they haven’t worked anywhere? We are confused!
– Karoline
Our History
n PEOPLE like Ludwig Stanley, Chief Hosea Kutako, both non-Oshiwambo speaking, helped the Founding Father get into exile, a journey that led to our Independence. Today a topic such as a non-Oshiwambo-speaking president is a hot potato. Are we still moving in the same direction?
n HISTORY has revealed about Mr Stanley in Botswana who helped the former president into exile, but is not mentioned in the history. Why?
General
Don’t get personal
n SHAME on the person who criticised the private number plate ‘PUNTA’. Punta means point in Latin and not what you think. Get a life. Would you have criticised it if it was on an old Corolla and not a brand new Range Rover?
n IMAGINE a Namibian electronics engineer installing indigenous languages in mobile handsets, I assure you they will sell like hot cakes and her share of sales will keep her from seeking employment refuge abroad. The sooner the better! Through legislation via political will, it’s quite possible.
–Tate Mnamwilwa
n PLEASE somebody help me to understand. My question is, is it legal in a community, if someone swears at another then he/she must pay that person N$300 or swears in public then he/she must pay N$300. Even kids if they swear, it’s N$300?
