ARE we truly Namibian? I mean do we care about our sports, mainly soccer? I don’t think we do because if we did, why would the Brave Gladiators play to an empty stadium? Let’s not only support Bucs and Stars but also our national teams. – Werner Figo !Gaoseb.

Food for Thought
ARE children born in Namibia, whose parents are non-citizens but legal migrants on work permits, entitled to Namibian birth certificates upon being born within Namibian borders? Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration please clarify to your staff what the Act and Constitution says. Especially in regional and satellite offices.

Bouquets and Brickbats
I AGREE with Christof Maletsky on the proposal for a new cabinet with the Ministry of Finance headed by Tom Alweendo.

GOVERNMENT/NGO folk can’t write a single ad without a mistake somewhere. Page 13 today, MET thinks a male chicken is the same as a list!

WHAT the Prime Minister (Nahas Angula) said about PAs in Parliament is uncalled for. Without PAs, we wonder how you would perform sir. Even if they are not respected they are important tools. Think before you talk.

Election Challenge
A COURT official gets the blame now and the Electoral Commission gets away with it. Are judges not supposed to guard the more important laws?

OPPOSITION parties must blame no-one for the court’s decision, they must blame themselves for their late submission. It must be a lesson to any Namibian individual that doing things at the last minute may bring disappointment to you. For your best results time management is a priority.
– G Shapumba

I WISH the ECN and ruling party had considered the evidence brought by the nine parties, not the late registration.

Man of the Cloth
WHEN a man of the cloth is calling fellow Namibians derogatory names such as Omusati clique, then I wonder if he wants peace. It seems the letter was drafted for him by Phil ya Nangoloh of NSHR or Jesaya Nyamu of RDP. Stop it, Dr Shejavali.

FELLOW Namibians leave Dr (Abisai) Shejavali alone. He is telling us like it is. Open your eyes please.
– Nghandanga

Running the Show
MINISTRIES of Home Affairs and Defence must be headed by ministers who have backgrounds in international laws or who are professionals. The Foreign Affairs Ministry must have experienced diplomats in charge. Think also of Safety and Security, this should be run by a professional police person. This is advice to the president.

In and From the Regions

Minister S Kuugongelwa-Amadhila
PLEASE (Finance) Minister (Saara) Kuugongelwa-Amadhila we want Inland Revenue in Ohangwena and Omusati Regions, Oshakati is too far.
– Concerned citizen

CAN the Walvis Bay Council please tell us what is going to happen with Dolphin Park?

OKALONGO road contractor please close the road to avoid more deaths due to mud.

I AM a resident of Oshakati and am not happy with the type of plant planted along main road. The previous ones looked good. Please town council make our town look good by replacing the current plants with the previous type (date plants) .

Pension Question
THE Prime Minister when interviewed recently by the media about Kuleni Fund Administrators vs. GIPF flatly denied government has any knowledge about these dealings. Now we hear the transfer is in motion and is to be effected in April and the meeting was held on Monday with staff of GIPF and even a strike ensued. Can the PM explain whether its now happening with their blessings or is the Government still not aware? What is their intervention if they are really concerned? There was even concerns about ownership of Kuleni, seen as an internal deal created by Board of Trustees and some managers within GIPF. We demand to know about the future of our pensions, and government should pronounce itself on this matter.
– Amen, Windhoek

GIPF/Kuleni: Why were we, the public servants and owners and beneficiaries of the Government Institutions Pensions Fund (GIPF) not consulted and updated on the outsourcing of the administration of the fund to Kuleni. We need to know how our pensions are being administered. That is our money.
– Ngh.

City Fathers Please...
CITY of Windhoek, Ombili location in Katutura is regarded as the first and oldest before Babilon, Okahandja Park etc. Why do those areas have toilets, erven etc and we don’t? Act now or give up your seat to someone who thinks outside the box. We are tired of being imprisoned in shacks and using plastic bags to relieve ourselves when nature calls.

CITY Fathers, you have not responded to the comment on the new bus ticketing system of a few weeks ago. Dear Minister of Transport, please take action. The city’s management does not have the required skills to administer such a system; perhaps it would be a better option to call on local transportation consultants to take over the project. A written reply would be welcome from the city and office of the minister respectively within one week. To the broader community, share your opinions on this matter!

CITY of Windhoek Police, please do something about small boys selling sweets and recharge vouchers at the corner of Monte Christo and Hereford Streets.

Education
EVERY school must be provided with water and electricity before you talk about 16 hour sessions.

THE failure rate is increasing in Namibia. The cause: Teachers are just crying for money from 07h00-13h00 instead of teaching learners. Why don’t they show that they are worth the increment by increasing the passing rate?

Adults Only!
I JUST want to to know, isn’t Kalahari Holdings a shareholder of Multichoice? And Kalahari Holdings is owned by Swapo, so (Gender) Minister (Marlene) Mungunda, your party is also part of pornography at DStv Namibia.

TO those who claims that this porn programme on DStv will corrupt the minds of youth, please for your information the youth are already corrupt through videos and DVDs so it will make no difference if you stop it or not. We want to watch what we are paying for. I believe DStv will establish something like an access code or something, so DStv bring it on!

COME on people, DStv is introducing a new product. It’s all about you wanting it or leaving it. If you can afford it, go for it. I can’t wait. I will definitely watch it with my wife. Go Dstv!
– Porn lover!

FACE the reality it is because of sex that we are actually on Earth. Simply implement have a secret code. Sex plays important role in all our lives. DStv bring the porn!

I’M not for porn, but would rather have that, than the loads of extreme violence and drug use that we currently have on TV. Woman and child abuse = violence, not porn.

PORN on DStv, this is an issue which at the end of the day depends on the subscriber! If you don’t want it, don’t get it!
–Freedom of choice advocate!

General
WHICH body regulates the reward system of financial institutions? Its very sad that their wealth comes from the sweat of the poor, they don’t give a damn.

A DRIVER of a left hand drive vehicle can’t see on the right when overtaking and vice versa, thus endangering other road users.

LOTS of cell towers are planned and being constructed all over Windhoek and Namibia. Is the public aware of the dangers? The Namibian please investigate and inform.
Note: A report is in progress – Newsdesk.

Service Please
FNB Rundu please please improve your service your tellers are very slow and not enough staff at the tellers and at enquiries. ‘How can you help us’?
– TP, Rundu.

ONGWEDIVA Town Council. After lunch the telephone rings more than 10 times. Switchboard operator lacks telephone etiquette. When transferred to accounts department phone keeps on ringing and back to switchboard. Being transferred from one extension to another for 30 minutes. When invoice is finally explained a lot of blunders are visible. Is this the service we have to receive?

HOME Affairs: Clean up your office in Windhoek North and get professionals working for you.

Sporting
TO the African Stars management, it seems to us that you have forgotten that we also support the team here in Opuwo, because we don’t know where to buy the team t-shirts. We also need them here.
– Concerned African Stars supporter, Opuwo, Kunene region.

MAY The Namibian update us with the Namibia Premier League log standings every Friday?
– Regards sports lovers
– We will do our best to accommodate readers on this one.
– Sportsdesk

PLEASE write also about our teams who participated in the leo Cup. Even if they are small teams we want to read about them in our beloved Namibian. Young Rangers, Onambula, Beebo Brothers to mention a few. Some of them defeated the top teams.

NBC
THE NBC board should appoint an NBC employee as Director General. It is time. There are a crop of quality staff at NBC to lead it to the next level. Test them.
