Food for Thought
* THE unemployment rate is escalating coupled with a high Grade 12 failure and dropout rate. My question is, does our Government have any measures in place to deal with this phenomena? If not, recruit more police officers as crime will also move in the same direction, you reap what you sow!
Bouquets and Brickbats
* TO Home Affairs – thank you for your excellent service: very friendly, extremely efficient and courteous and awesomely speedy in getting me my new passport. Your SMS service is first class! Many thanks.
– Genie Albrecht
* TO the Ministry of Education NSFAF, on behalf of all loan holders student we thank you very much for the assistant you have given us towards our studies. We would not know what we less privileged people would have done if you didn’t exist. The loan bonus, we take our hats off for that again. Keep assisting us and our generation to come. Thank you, you have truly made it possible for us to realise our dreams in a world of endless opportunities.
– Thankful student.
* PHOTOS of dead people on a regular basis! Is The Namibian turning into a cheap tabloid?
* NAMCOL should employ more people to register the learners. We have been queuing up for almost five days but nothing yet.
* IT’S shameful for NamWater to take out a full page advertisement boasting the appointment of a position that countrymen of the same qualifications and skills can offer. What happened to the Employment Equity Act and Namibianisation?
Election Challenge
* PLEASE director go the Electoral Commission of Namibia, we as voter education staff are really struggling while the regional voter education enjoy ECN cars with their family and friends. We are walking while they use those vehicles as their private cars. If there is no transport please give us a transport allowance.
Your vote is your voice
* I DON’T understand why some people are opposed to verification centres. At verification centres no ballot box was opened and there were party agents assigned to observe. As far as l know not a single returning officer counted ballot papers. What they were doing was adding together results from polling stations using elects 19 and 20 as they got them from presiding officers. The whole process was observed by the police and party agents especially from the RDP and Swapo. ECN staff did their work in the open.
Politics
* I CALL upon all Christians in Namibia to consider forming a political party that will unite all peace loving Namibians. The current political status quo leaves much to be desired. It’s about time and that time is, now.
– Pastor Ben Araeb
* WE the nation want brave leaders like Kazenambo Kazenambo.
– Youth from Otjiwarongo
* ALL teachers must ensure that politics doesn’t interfere with their work and give a chance to those who are unemployed to stand as councillors!
– Fed up Aranos resident
Politics in General
* JACOB Zuma is a man of loose morals who sleeps with any available woman, even the daughters of his friends. What a poor example of a leader!
Running the Show
* PLEASE Hon Min(ister of Finance), Saara (Kuugongelwa) please review the old age pension.
* MINING: Government, please refocus your strategy to grow the country in the mining sector. I cannot believe that Government holds 3 per cent shares in Rossing and 0 per cent shares in Areva. Two more uranium mining houses are about to open. Please read the book by David Smith and try to comprehend the importance of land.
* PLEASE Minister of Health how far is the issue of the decentralisation of Primary Health Care?
* THIS is to the National Assembly, please pass a National Renting Act and establish a rent board to canvass issues of rent and set prices. We are dying from exorbitantly high rents. This affects many people. Do something.
* MINISTRY of Gender please release the names of the best candidate for record clerk countrywide. It has been too long.
* THE NATIONAL Youth Service produced an academic report instead of strategic plan. They need to consult Helmut Angula.
– Koko
* NAMIBIANS please wake up. Why does the Government only need us when it’s time to vote? Ok, we did our part. Please give us power. We want to enjoy our freedom like all citizens do.
– MTK

More details please
* PLEASE provide more details of recovered stolen laptops (make, model and serial number) so that owners can claim them.
In and From the Regions
* NAMWATER in Omusati Region The water is turned off during the rainy season in the following villages Iilambo, Onandjila and Uukuuvu and we’re paying a lot. Who is responsible for this?
– Lissy
* ONGWEDIVA – Omatando. I’m a concerned resident of the village. The question is why are we not getting the development that we have voted for? I mean we want electricity but we aren’t getting it. Councillors where are you?
We need tarred roads
* MINISTRY of Works and Transport, when will you finish the Onayena-Okankolo tar road? We voted hoping for change and better service, but nothing yet. Please do something.
– Eline
* I WANT to know why people with disabilities are not considered for jobs in Outjo like in other parts. Should we just be known for voluntary work only.
– Concerned person with disability.
We want to shop
* THE people in charge of Otjiwarongo’s development, please bring more shops and investments to Otjiwarongo. We want our town to become more developed and help the youth that are finishing school to decrease the unemployment rate and take them off the streets.
* THE Keetmanshoop Municipality’s service to the inhabitants is a disaster. The town will change into a ghost town. It is untidy, roads look like canyons and are dirty, the sewerage is out of order and the streets smell unpleasant. Mr Mayor Bazil Brown we want your undivided service. As leaders let us lead and serve the nation as Mr. Nahas Angula the PM says! Thanks.
– Mr Uth
* MTC when will you consider putting up network coverage at Uuyoka-Omulondo in Onayena constituency? We are tired of a poor network.
– Mbinga
* GOVERNOR (Sackey) Kayone we need electricity at Onambelela.
– DAP.
A home of our own
* MUNICIPALITY of Okahandja. Please Mr Meroro we want to buy erven to build our houses, but every time people come to see you, you are always on leave or sick leave or nobody knows where you are. Please sir try to do your job.
– Mbaurwa
* PRINTING that Oshikango is a shanty town (February 6), you’re not telling it like it is! If Oshikango is dirty, Helao Nafidi Town should hire more cleaners or permanently employ them, considering the staggering 76.4% of unemployment in Ohangwena region. How could Oshikango be a shanty town with all commercial banks, industrial parks and state of the art lodges?
– Tate Mnamwilwa
* MUNICIPALITY of Okahandja, what is wrong with your health department, the town is really dirty. It is no longer a garden town but a waste town. CEO please do something to solve this problem.
–Dokkies
Education
* MOSES van der Byl Primary School, our kids were not taught for the whole week, the Grade 2 teacher was absent. Our kids will fail.
* PLEASE let the children who are six and born in January start school.
We love our libraries
* DEAR Ministry of Education, please tell us when the library in Windhoek will open again. It has been closed for more than a year. What is so sad is that no one seems to complain or even notice. Try to bring a reading culture to Namibia please. H ow else can this country grow?
– Sarah Taylor
– We carried a story on Friday explaining the delay in getting renovations done. No-one knows at this stage when it will re-open
–Newsdesk
Health Matters
* WHY do people not do the work that they are paid for? At Onandjokwe doctors, nurses and cleaners are not doing their work. Two patients came in bleeding but nothing was done to them even checking them during night. Toilets are not working and cleaners give us a jug or bucket to carry water when using a toilet. You are sick and now you are doing somebody’s work. What is that? Please improve for your Namibian people.
– Moroca.
We can’t afford to wait
* WHY do we have to wait so long for the dentists in Otjiwarongo to finish their renovations? Why can they not move to the state hospital until they finish. We are suffering with pain. Come on. Two weeks is too long.
– Concerned patient
City Fathers Please...
* I CAN well sympathise with the person who complained about the City of Windhoek Water department. Out of pure frustration I paid, to my knowledge, an inflated water bill. There seems to be a dire lack of dedicated staff in this department. We are informed by City to e-mail them with our problems, but that seems to be window dressing only, as I have had no response to my two e-mails. Passing the buck? Who is taking final responsibility for a customer’s complaint? Please give the name and number of that person and no-one else! I am also tired of long queues and people who take no interest in their work. I refuse to believe that there is no-one who will stop passing the buck and do what he or she is paid and suppose to do, namely taking care of your customers. One name and one telephone number please!
And Justice for All
Not easy to understand
* LAND of the Brave: steal a goat, you will be sent to prison for 20 years; be involved in a fraud of more that half a million, you will get five years in prison. If you shoot at your nephew, as long as he belongs to an opposition party, nothing will happen to you
Sporting
* MR (Tom) Saintfiet, the Namibian coach must stop dividing Namibian soccer players. He had some personal issues with some and always makes sure to leave them out. He must look at the potential of our country and winning. With another coach this situation can receive attention to put Namibia on the map again. I think Mr Saintfiet must give over to Mr Ali Akhan.
* OUR coach must be serious with national team selection. How can he leave out such a super strike like Tangeni Shipahu?
ACC Alert
* (REGIONAL and Local Government and Housing Minister Jerry) Ekandjo should be probed by the ACC for wanting to deny a civil servant the opportunity to study in India because of political affiliation. He must also resign with immediate effect.
* I WOULD like to respond to last Friday’s SMS that said Inland Revenue officials in Otjiwarongo should stop the 10 per cent practice that has been going on for two years. Dear anon, be informed that you have been promoting corruption in Namibia which means you are as guilty as revenue officials. You could have blown the whistle a long time ago, what went wrong in the process? My advice to you is, report your accomplice to the relevant authorities.
* THERE is a new scheme where traffic officers on the road between Oshivelo and Ondangwa stop so-called speeding motorists claiming it’s a 60km/h zone, with no traffic signs around. They ask how much cash you have in your pocket, then threaten you with spending a weekend in jail or paying up for their pockets? Then they take your cash and allow you to go. How much money are they making every Friday? Nice tax free business with no overheads? No wonder this system is so corrupt?
– Disgusted motorist!
* ARANOS has a lot of problems, corruption in particular at Government institutions. The ACC needs to start acting or should we investigate ourselves? Our Hardap region is now very poor, it is rotting with corruption.
* POSTAL service car registration PS 1 driving over 160 on the road from Rundu to Grootfontein. Please could you inform me to whom I can report the driver?
Labour Issues
* I AGREE with the idea of retiring at 50 or 55 but not only veterans.
Service Please
* TELECOM Namibia has bad customer service. It has been five times this year that we have been experiencing problems with our phone and its a business line. But they just drag their feet in assisting us which we cannot tolerate anymore. We have a reference no: 6174051 which means they might only come next week if we are lucky. And on top of it all we expect the same problem after two weeks as it keeps on without any adequate solution. We know you are the only service provider in this area, and you know SMEs cannot function without you. Please be serious as you can also lose out on revenue.
– Fed up client!
NBC
Talking to the nation
* I’M not happy with the change at the NBC Oshiwambo service. When will the Open Line (Omayele Koshiwana) programme start in 2010, and if not why have they cancelled this programme? NBC Oshiwambo service please give is feedback.
– Tutumei M
* NBC, when are you bringing back our Open Line? We want to debate our national issues.
Consumers Count!
* CAN someone please come two my rescue. I bought a phone at Jet Store Rundu branch which then broke. I took it back as it is still under guarantee. The second time it broke the manager said there is nothing that they can do. I am sitting with a broken phone while I am paying for something which is useless. Please what must I do now?
