SMSes of Thursday 25 February 2010

* WHEN I read that E(vilastus) Kaaronda has said Germans should go to hell, I am afraid and feel we need common sense here and a bit more diplomacy and sensitivity. It seems that those who spoke in public on this subject are hungry for recognition from us comrades. Who has ever said that Germans do not respect Namibian laws and other assumptions? I do not agree with the way KAS has acted in this situation and think both sides can find a more responsible way of handling this issue.

Food for Thought
* SOMETHING needs to be done to the management of the following SOEs : NWR, NBC, Air Namibia, NYS and PoN because they are under-performing.

Bouquets and Brickbats
* CONGRATULATIONS to Justice Mainga and Justice Siboleka. Kindly accept my heartfelt congratulations on your career advancement. You are indeed an inspiration to many of us. You are a shining example of what one can achieve when one remains focused.
– Linus

* THE Namibian please do something about your newspapers that you have given to small boys to sell at Havana, Monte Cristo road after coming back from work. If you don’t have a dustbin rent a drum please! How can a person buy a newspaper which does not have all its contents.
– AA Nghiishililwa.
Note: The Namibian sells newspapers only to registered vendors. We will however, ask the police to look into this. – Newsdesk

Business as Usual
* INDEPENDENT Namibia but Hage (Geingib) has to ask papa China what to do with people who are taking our taxes, jobs, SMEs etc. Smell the coffee; it’s pay back time.

* COULD you imagine the Swapo Government allowing a European country to run this country like the Chinese do. When will we get Chinese MPs?

* OLD master Hage (Geingob) sought the advice on how to protect our people, interesting? Should he not have looked into our laws in regard to this?

The Hand That Feeds
* ON page 3 of The Namibian on February 23, we want to throw out the Germans. On page 5 same issue we take their money. It doesn’t make sense in a peace-loving country.

* ACCORDING to Kaaronda ‘we are not for sale’. I think he missed the plot. Namibia has sold out to China long ago. Look at the tender allocations, job stealing – yes stealing, just to mention a few, because our unemployed could also work on construction sites. So please Kaaronda chuck out the Chinese before you want to get rid of the Germans. Thank you.
– Proud Namibian

Politics
* MR (Elijah) Ngurare of the ruling party’s Youth League must talk about the closure of hostels in his region and Clinton Swartbooi about the poverty and suffering of his group please.

Politics in General
* HOW can China claim non-interence with Zimbabwe’s internal affairs but throws a birthday bash for the bankrupt dictator? This is indeed blatant corruption!

NWR
* I COULDN’T believe that Tobie Aupindi was able to keep his post last year after presenting the catastrophic financial report and NWR had the impudence of giving him a salary raise. But that he remains on and the Ministry of Environment & Tourism is not acting is going beyond what I can take. How can such mismanagement be tolerated?

* UNEMPLOYMENT at 50 per cent and rising. NWR making losses to the tune that we can’t even read those figures. Corruption is so rife that it looks like it’s part of our culture. Are we becoming a typical African state? Yes.
– Claude

Running the Show
* WHEN will the National Youth Council ‘Credit 4 Youth in Business’ be rolled out to the remaining regions?

City Fathers Please
* SINCE the Municipality are such fans of putting up speed humps in every second street, why have they not put one or two in Tacoma Street, Suiderhof? It is one of the busiest streets in Suiderhof and it has a lot residents among whom are pensioners. People speed and drive like maniacs. At night after twelve it sounds like they are drag racing. Not only on weekends but weekdays as well. Please do something about this. It has become a safety hazard. Also the robot (traffic light) at the Tacoma Service Station needs to be adjusted because you wait for what seems an eternity for the robot to change to green and when it finally does, when you are halfway across, it already changes back again. It is causing a traffic jam when there is no reason it should happen if the robot worked properly.

* ARE there still City Fathers?

Labour Issues
* COMMISSIONER Kashihakumwa, let those who applied to the Namibian Police last year and received a letter back telling them that they meet the basic requirements but did not make it due to the limited number of candidates that were shortlisted, replace those who will not attend the upcoming training?

* WHEN will Government stop this thing of people working contract for 3 months or 8 months contract but they pay tax? When will government stop this thing of asking for 5 or 10 years experience. What about people who have qualifications but they don’t have experience? That is why our country is left behind?
– Sondy Nenghwanya

In and From the Regions
* TO the Governor of Ohangwena region, why is there no electrification along the stretch between Onuno through to Okakwa? Stop hampering development and start gearing up for Vision 2030, because at this rate how can we stop urbanisation to witness rural development when you have failed to provide basic services.

* I AM a resident of Ombili location in Otjiwarongo. We have been waiting for electricity for four years. Please Cenored do something for us.

* CONSERVANCIES are a failure in Kunene North. I urge the Ministry of Environment officials to visit these entities to for see themselves who the beneficiaries are. Please don’t rely on NGO reports.

Education
* ASSUMING that the JSC exams sort out all the ‘automatic transfer’ cases, why is the NSSC even worse than the JSC?

* PLEASE I want to know what happened to the vocational instructors course that the Polytechnic used to offer? There have been three years with no intake.

* CAN NQA help me understand the following sentence written in small letters on my friend’s geology degree attained from one of the UK varsities which reads: “It is not meant for developed countries”.

* PERMANENT Secretary in the Ministry of Education! We are worried. Are you aware that the students are being asked to pay N$400 in order for their loan application forms to be accepted in room 104? My question is since when and where is this money going? Please investigate this, we don’t want corruption.

ACC Alert
* CAN the ACC please visit the Ministry of Youth. Every time we in the regions call head office asking for money to run programmes in the regions we are told that there is no money.  As we are here now, all cars, especially in the regions, are parked because there is no money but some of our regions have not even run a single programme since last year. At the end of the day they (head office people) are asking us to write reports even though they know that we have done nothing. Please Mr (Paulus) Noa, can you visit our Ministry, we in the regions are suffering.

* PLEASE investigate the allocation of government houses in Tsumeb.

* CAN the ACC please investigate the City Police and Fire Brigade recruitment process. There are (allegedly) some people requesting payments ranging from N$3 000 upwards for new posts.
– Busin

Crime and Punishment
* THE more pressure one puts on legal firearms and their owners, the more illegal guns will threaten us.

* ANY ban or serious restrictions on our licensed firearms will immediately lead to a horrendous increase of crime. Why? Because the criminals will still have their illegal guns, and all the disarmed (us) will be a herd of sheep surrounded by wolves.

General

It’s everywhere, It’s everywhere

* SMOKING is being discussed in parliament. Alcohol is widely accepted in Namibian society. Wake up and understand that drinking is ABNORMAL. Just notice your reaction NOW. This is how well advertising works and the rest is social conditioning. One answer lies in self reflection, another in meditation.
– Gunta

Please Help.
* ANYONE know of the title of the CD or song, a collaboration by Steve Kekana and an old member of Stimela, if I’m not mistaken, and where can I get it!

Sporting
* THE Namibian nation must support our rugby team because those boys are doing us proud at world level, qualifying for the World Cup for the fourth time.I believe it won’t be long until we take the cup! Goverment must get involved in serious rugby and cricket development because Namibia has the potantial to triumph in those sports! Go!Go!Welwitschias!
– HK Black rugby supporter. Outjo.
