* NAMIBIAN youth, if singing is not your calling, talk to your parents or see what makes you tick. To be a leader tomorrow requires that you practise that today. Read any book, expand your knowledge and you will never cease to grow. Time waits for no man. Read today, everyday and become a leader tomorrow.

Food for Thought
* WHO on earth was responsible for the immediate ban of foreign tour guides from SA? We want to know!! Outrageous! Does this person know what he is doing? He is most surely sitting in his air conditioned office, receiving a big fat cheque every month, not realising the damage his idiotic decision has caused, maybe to his own family working in a hotel, lodge, souvenir shop. Fire him and get someone who knows what he is doing - immediately, without suspension!
* OVERLANDERS: Good that they are stopped from entering our country. They are the cheapest tourists using our country and leave very little money here. No VAT is paid over on their day fees and the bulk of the money is banked outside the country.
– Local tour operator and proud Namibian.
* HAVE they lost the plot banning overland tourists/tour operators? We need our tourists and their spending on accommodation, meals, fuel, other transport, leisure, entertainment, crafts and gifts to name only a few. Their spending keeps thousands of Namibians in work!
Bouquets and Brickbats
What a good impression
* A GOOD beginning for 2010! For the first time the tiles are shining at Katutura Hospital. Well done Mr Kamui.
– SVK
* A BIG thumbs up for B Mamatoto. I also have a family member who’s been living with the HIV virus for more than 15 years. Let’s hear about them.
* WHY doesn’t anyone do anything about the GRN vehicles going at a minimum speed of 160km/h on our roads on a Sunday?
* TO the employees of Starling Mini Shop, thanks for your quick service and friendliness. Thank you!
* COMRADE Minister (Joel) Kaapanda, keep up the good work, we salute you!
– Dr Elijah Ngurare, Windhoek
* VIVA Kazenambo Kazenambo, you are a true advocate of none discrimination. I encourage you to always stand your ground in times of tribulations and persecutions by your co-politicians as it might happen to you from now on, after the Jerry Ekandjo incident
* I FIND the utterances of Mr Kazenambo regarding succession as divisive and unrealistic, because in Namibia we have more presidents of political parties from minority groups than the one from majorities who aspire to be president of Namibia, but the majority groups do not block them.
* LONG live Kazenambo Kazenambo you are a man of principles!
– Mapopo Twami
* THANKS Honourable Kazenambo for breaking the silence! It must be known to everybody that Namibia is for all of us. Viva democracy and down all forms of discrimination!
* FEBRUARY 03: ‘ No more rain this summer’. Today: February 05 , NBC News.... A warning of possible heavy rain ! These weather ‘ guru’s try to predict months (or even decades) ahead; yet fail to see three days into the future! Listening to any of them is a total waste of time!
* ONE Africa TV please! I am tired of watching naked people having sex during the early hours when our kids are watching..
Politics
* Namibians, Namibians, let’s express our feelings in a democratic way not an emotional one. Friday’s edition speaks volume, someone does not like the way Dr (Elijah) Ngurare and Comrade (Evilastus) Kaaronda spoke about Namibia’s affairs. I ask the writer now, can you please tell us where Ngurare’s and Kaaronda’s country is? It is like they are not Namibians. Come on we all have a hand in managing Namibia, the two gentlemen are powerful leaders who have many responsibilities because of their positions, whether we like it or not they are leaders. Another bit of advice to my countrymen and women is to leave alone other countries’s leaders like President (Jacob) Zuma of South Africa, the people of South Africa know what is right or wrong, The Namibian please do not print such messages, they are not good and unprofessional.

* The Government has dropped Namibians. While it was asleep, half-dead, the unemployment rate exceeded 50 per cent. The Swapo Minister decided to conceal for four months the 50 per cent unemployment rate until elections were over, claiming he had other things to do. On the other hand, Home Affairs dished out over 40 000 work permits to foreigners in a one to two year period. Namibians are sacrificed while Government invests in monumental structures and toys like State House, Heroes Acre, jets, cars, etc. Fishing rights for life and Black Empowerment are for the well connected few. Yet, the Government has done little about the millions stolen by well connected and known thieves. Education is like hell. Come elections, the ruling party Swapo tells us they are the champions from A to Z. It is the fault of the Namibians who voted Swapo for liberating us but not for competence, bread and butter issues, our daily survival. So be it?
– Mbandye yOmukondaule. Oshikoto.
Unemployment affects everyone
* JUST more proof that government policies are failing. More than 50 per cent unemployment comes as no surprise except to those with blinkers on. It’s no wonder the result of the survey was not released in an election year!
* FROM secondary school, Grade 8 (13/14 years) one is a teenager/youth until one’s coming-of-age birthday (21st). From 21 one is then officially an adult (young adult).
Politics in General
* IF Mr (President Jacob) Zuma is defending polygamy, why did he father a child outside his three wives’ marriage? Who is he fooling? We want responsible leaders in the midst of the HIV pandemic.
Labour Issues
* GOVERNMENT employees please stop bringing your children to the offices during working hours. They disrupt our work!
* UNEMPLOYMENT is easy to fix. Start with construction tenders and fishing quotas.
* WAR veterans should retire at 55 years so that they can enjoy their pension alongside their veterans’ allowance, rather than waiting for the normal retirement age of 60. This will pave the way for young and aspiring unemployed youths.
* PLEASE Old Mutual it takes too long for you to pay out staff pensions. I mean if a person has resigned from you last year then that person will have to wait for I don’t know how many months. Can the management please look into that? We are still waiting for our pensions and we want to feed our families.
City of Windhoek
* KATUTURA East has had an electricity blackout since 10h00, on Saturday February 6.
* CITY of Windhoek tell the people where to build their ghettos, not just everywhere. Please City of Windhoek do something
In and From the Regions
* I AM really tired of Helao Nafidi Town Council, and NamWater in Ohangwena Region, especially Oshikango town. The water here is turned off almost everyday, sometimes for five days. These people don’t think of us who stay here!
Not a good idea
* I WOULD like to tell all the parent along the Mururani to Rundu road to tell children not to throw stone at the cars. I saw three kids stone cars today at different spots. Please parents do something. Not so long ago a kid was killed on that road because of that.
* IT seems the law regulating shebeens in Omaruru is different from in other towns. Here the shebeens operate from 07h00 to 19h00. Noise pollution disturbs our school, kids and elders. Police are wasting fuel telling shebeen owners to close. They must arrest them because the closing time is stipulated on the liquor licences. This is a violation of the law. The Municipality must keep shebeens away from houses please.
– Mbaurua mbuae
* ACC, you’re only concentrating in the city (Windhoek) in terms of arresting culprits. Why don’t you operate in other towns? Please go out of city!
* ONATHINGE-Onayena Constituency, why can’t we see lights in that area? I did some research and asked people but they said that councillors never look at that part. Swapo choose your councillors accordingly, not because they fought for independence. We are fighting for development. Councillors stop being selfish by just developing your own areas.
* WHY is Goverment not doing check ups on the road from Okahandja to Karibib? At the point were they started and finished, it is coming off.
* PLEASE let us respect the dead people. My humble request goes to the Oshikango Authority to kindly consider taking care of the Oshikango graveyard. This graveyard is so dirty, full of grass and in fact has become the main toilet for many people. Fencing the place properly is the best solution to keep it clean.
Education
Reams and reams of paper
* I WANT an explanation why learners at Mwadhina gwa Nembenge also known as Oshakati Combined School or Ngolo have to buy reams of papers for school. What is happening to the N$150 we paid?
* I DON’T think we can fight hunger and poverty if we are encouraging youth to study IT instead of in the agricultural, mining and marine areas. Open your eyes people.

* TO all the Ministers, Chief Regional Officers and Directors in the Ministry of Education please keep politics away when it comes to administrative work. Avoid office politics and don’t fight for the things that advance you. This is 2010 a year of revealing your mistakes.
* SOME advice to parents/guardians that cellular phones are destroying our kids and contributing to the high rate of failure, as they spend much time on free calls provided by MTC and other service providers.
* LECTURERS are now required to hold a master’s degree at our colleges of education. What about school principals and heads of departments in our schools? What is the requirement? Will the knowing continue to be led by the unknowing? Many ordinary teachers are better off than their supervisors. Honourable Minister can you please take action?
Competition Time
* YOUR competition time SMS of February 5 asking the manager to announce who won the Onk Properties holiday season competition refers, the manager would like to inform you that our winner is Lucretia L R Van Wyk from Windhoek.
– Thank you for your prompt response.

Health Matters
* TO the one who asked Dr Richard Kamwi to send out health inspectors to inspect shebeens and club toilets because they are dirty: I hope you are just joking, I don’t think you really want the busy inspectors to keep patronising clubs and telling people to clean. That should be the bar owners’ duty. I believe you were there. Why didn’t you tell them to clean their toilets? Complain to the one in charge. If they do not want to clean, then stop going to the clubs with dirty toilets. Stay home or go to the clean ones, other people will follow the same route. Don’t you want to educate your fellow club attendants on how to behave when they are using toilets? Do something for your fellow people. By the way how about you becoming a toilet inspector at night? Your concern sounds valid but your solution needs revisiting. Note that I’m not a health inspector, I just want you also to start doing something instead of asking others to flush a toilet after you used it.

And Justice for All
* I WONDER why girls nowadays become heroes when they enter a new life like starting working! They forget their boyfriend who supported them during their studies! I want to remind the girls to be careful because these things are dangerous! Judges please try to look into this issue and consider protecting men also. We are also human beings. Some men in the country are taking their own lives because they cannot handle this issue themselves! It’s not easy to forget your lover on whom you have spend a lot! Save innocent lives!

Service Please
* We the clients of Standard Bank suffer here in Opuwo. We have no branch and we do transactions at Bank Windhoek and FNB at very high charges. Sometimes I think of taking my business to one of the local banks, but I keep hanging on because Standard Bank is where things happened for me. Please bring an agency at least, we want to feel a sense of belonging.
