Food for Thought
n CAN someone tell me – do lawyers tell lies? When they defend a client in court, are they allowed to give false information or misrepresent facts when they know the real truth?
Bouquets
and Brickbats
n HIV AIDS hero! Good, but why should he receive recognition only from outside?
– JJ
n WHAT is it with our women? If they don’t dump babies they are having babies like nobody’s business. Look at that poor lady in The Namibian of Monday, August 23. She is unemployed and gave birth five times. Now she has got eight children and is asking for who to help her raise the babies while she can’t even feed the other five. Is she single? Where are the men/fathers?
– Kleintjie
n THE unmarried, unemployed mother of eight kids, what were you thinking? Have you never heard of contraceptives? And already appealing to the public! You should be ashamed!
– Dr Family Planning
n MOTHER of eight, unmarried unemployed – that’s unwise. The responsible fathers must take care.
– Afrikan comrade
n ABOUT the lady in your paper with eight children and unemployed, can’t the Government limit couples only to have two kids if unemployed and those that can afford plus minus four only? What are we doing with six or 10 kids, so many become street kids. So many kids for one woman and maybe different fathers mind you? Please women use contraception. It’s for free and available. We all can enjoy sex without producing so many kids we will be unable to care for.
n REGINA Nathanael and your husband no one was there when you were making your babies. All of a sudden you need help, no one sent you on a spree of giving birth. Let’s not make our problems others please.
n I FIND it astonishing that unemployed and unmarried Regina Nathanael can keep on producing children and then have the audacity to ask the Namibian people for assistance! Why did she not think a long time ago how she would care for her team of children before having her numerous bouts of unprotected sex?
n OH for heaven’s sake Robin, the Ndeshi cartoon is spot on. Women using their assets to make men do what they (women) want them to do is a practice that has gone on since time immemorial. And men fell for it since the dawn of time. Anyway the scenario in the cartoon happens at shebeens a thousand times every day. Please wake up and smell the coffee.
n ROBIN Tyson, Ndeshi and Jakes on Friday the 20th was trying to show alcoholism in our society which has actually led many girls to prostitution. You misunderstood it.
– Zila
n PLEASE please end Ndeshi & Jakes now! Pathetic! Not funny at all!
n FRIDAY’S ‘Ndeshi and Jakes’. How could you? Where are your principles? What is the message here? Why is it funny?
n WHAT a catastrophe. I say that because the Zoo Park playground is not in tip-top shape anymore. Come on people.
Up in Smoke
n THE owner of Foodies Take Away in JJJ please don’t smoke your cigarettes while you are busy serving your customers. Please obtain a copy of the Tobacco Act.
Running
the Show
n MINISTER of Environment and Tourism are you are aware that two trucks fully loaded with wire were offloaded at Namutoni and this was later stolen. How far is the investigation? The staff want to know?
n PLEASE the government must set up rights for men due to the fact we are being abused by our wives. They want to take over. Please women listen to us men. Let’s go back to old times where men were respected. Please act on both sides.
n WAR Veterans’ Ministry. Why is the Ministry only giving half of the money? Why are we not paid in full?
Politics
n 1. CONGRESS of Democrat’s President Ben Ulenga has urged party representatives in the Keetmanshoop Town Council to unite for the sake of socio-economic growth at the town. 2. The Rally for Democracy and Progress opposition party has called for an official investigation into the recent death of an election official Hezekiel Kandoloma Shigwedha who died in a motor accident on July 31 2010. The Namibian. Well done! Those who do not see the need for a multi-party democracy will start learning now. There is a need to watch over those in power and be vigilant of what they are failing to do or detect.
n MR President l am advising you not to appoint young people to the posts of regional governors. Think about and respect the ages and cultures of some traditional and spiritual leaders. For some traditions it would look like an insult. It is difficult for them to meet young people as their leaders. This has been the problem. Mr President consider my humble request and you will be appreciated by masses of people.
– Wamunini.
Law and Order
n CAN one hold the Government and in particular the Ministry of Safety and Security responsible for failing to protect our lives and property? Maybe one should start taking the Government to court for failing to maintain law and order.
In and From
the Regions
n THE Gobabis Municipality, what have you done with the money for the past five years if you can’t increase salaries of the striking workers. Stop creating positions to enrich yourself.
– Concerned rates and tax payer.
n ARE the HR and Treasurer of the Gobabis Municipality competent enough to do their jobs? If not, can they pack and go.
n PLEASE Comrade Endjambi we want clean water at Oshipanda village in Oshikuku Constituency! Rescue us from water from the dirty canal.
n WE want services at the Epako Municipal offices. Since the workers went on strike on Friday last week we have been forced to go for services in town.
– Upset Epako resident.
n THE Councillors for Rundu Rural East and Rundu Rural West what development did you bring to your constituencies? Why do you not stay in your constituencies? That is the reason for underdevelopment.
n WALVIS Bay recently had an auction of erven. Many of the people that need land or houses were disappointed by not securing an erf. Now in a local newspaper of August 24, we see a property agent advertising it has 15 erven for sale. Now my question is where do they get these erven to sell for N$105 000 while so many people where disappointed by not securing even one. Today these agents let flats and houses at unaffordable prices and even make it difficult for us to own houses.
n OPUWO Town Council do something to your town. The place is dirty and has been short of development for the past years. Leaders get paid for nothing. That’s why they don’t do anything for the town.
n WHEN is Indongo Yakeelu-Omupanda village in Omuthiya Constituency getting electricity like other villages? We must all vote but when it comes to services or benefits only some villages enjoy the benefit! We need feedback.
n OPEN the water please. We are dying of thirst here at Omulonga Constituency, Ohangwena Region. It is now a full week since the water was closed. Please do something.
n MR Councillor of Ohangwena we are tired of digging our lake for our cattle and goats at Oshuulula, Oneleiwa and surroundings. We need modern machinery. We have a qualified driver? Our cattle and goats die during the dry season.
– Shikonekeni, community member
General
n TO the organisers of the Red Flag Day. Please bind the speeches in a booklet every year for future generations. It was a good day for all Namibians.
Policemen must wear them please
n POLICEMEN must have names on all their uniforms because you can’t identify who they are.
Education
and Training
n MR Abraham Iyambo you need to visit the salary office in Windhoek. It takes them a month to attend to our queries and make wrong calculations again! Give them maths training.
n SCHOOL boards and parents at HTS and Academia Schools. The very bushy trees and shrubs opposite the sport field bordering Bodin Street, with big holes in the fence, might pose an ideal place for our vulnerable children to be assaulted! Especially the hostel girls walking at dark down the said street! We need to act before tragedy strikes again.
– Very worried parent
n WE as secondary school teachers feel neglected by our Ministry. Can someone there as well as at Nantu explain to us why only primary and combined schools are entitled to the bush allowance? Does it mean secondary schools don’t face any hardships? Is it a divide and rule policy? Check the Ohangwena Region list.
Please Help
n CAN The Namibian please find out for us who regulates SMS competitions?
Note: Can anyone help out here please. This is important information. People are being defrauded.
– News Desk
n CAN someone out there help me to explain the different between domicile and the certificate of identity issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and given to the foreigners married to a Namibian because I really don’t know the different between these two documents. Thank you!
Health Matters
Health Minister Richard Kamwi
n WHY is the Katutura nurses home so overcrowded now? To make as much money from students as possible? We are suffocating in a room meant for two people with four people! Please consider our health before the money!
n MR (Richard) Kamwi nurses all over Namibia are burned out because of staff shortages but management fights for overtime to play police officers above these tired nurses and they are rude. They can appoint more nursing students and give them a salary like in the good old days and the nursing staff shortage will soon be over. And pay a decent salary.
Labour Issues
n I WONDER why employed people are allowed to work in the elections while we the youth of Okombahe are struggling to find jobs. Let it not happen this time. Give space to the youth.
– Concerned youth of Okombahe
n NAMIBIA Public Workers’ Union and Government you are both in violation of an agreement signed by you to regrade the clerks. When will this happen?
n WHAT a bogus! What happened to unemployment registration in Namibia? Anybody got jobs through such? The first registration has ended. No one has been offered jobs!
Service Please
n NCH stop selling tickets since you cannot keep things in order. We spend hours at departure points because there are no buses. You don’t have your own buses on standby and you end up sending people away on those other small buses. Quit or change. There’s a reason why we buy your tickets and don’t go on the small buses.
n WHAT is it One Africa TV? Why can’t they fix the problem of the freezing programmes?
And Justice for All
n CHAIRPERSON and the Chief of Secretariat of the Law Reform Commission in the Ministry of Justice, could stakeholders get together again like in September 2009 so you could update us on progress made so far, as undertakings were made almost a year ago. This regards a possible bill (draft) on Namibian consumer protection for consideration by stakeholders and lawmakers.
Michael Gaweseb
Consumer Rights Campaigner
n WHAT happened to the murder cases at Okakarara on September 3 2006 that involved a man who (allegedly) killed his ex-girlfriend? We only heard that he has been transferred to Windhoek.

From NBC
n WHY is Prophet Justina Haihambo’s house (a Mini Village) being repeatedly screened on NBC’s ‘Open File’? Is there a hidden agenda against her personally or her group? There are many sangomas around claiming to cure incurable diseases. I remember that she recently announced through a private radio that one prominent politician should “repent”. Those who are now allowed to differ with her publicly are religious opponents.
The Open File Edition – Featuring the Prophet Justina and her son Joseph was first aired on August 1, repeated as per programme schedule of the NBC of August 3. Consequently the Open File desk was flooded by calls for a repeat of the edition and hence a repeat on Sunday 22nd . The NBC holds the right to repeat any programme, due to public demand or interest. The NBC does not hold any hidden agenda on any source of information, and our editorial policy provides a fair presentation of any story and gives voice to both sides.
n WHEN is NBC going to provide us with our gold card as we have paid up our TV licences? I paid mine on July 12 receipt number T684060 and I was told I was first to pay in Otjiwarongo. Please send me my gold card.
We are currently processing all payments made as from July 7th to August 10th 2010. Those who paid, will receive their card and a letter (before the end of September 2010), which will outline the PPV gold card benefits.
We ask for patience in this regard and thank you for paying your TV licence.

n I’M proposing that money spent on birthday or other congratulatory messages must be put in an education trust fund to help needy deserving students.
– Sheya
n I AGREE with the gesture that murderers must attend (by force) the funerals of their victim. Perhaps their hearts will be moved.
n NO way Jose! Hannes! Truckers are by and large the most considerate drivers. In my 28 years of experience. I can count bad truckers on one hand. The real evils are sedans, pickups and especially taxi and minibus drivers. And no, I am not a trucker in case you might think so.
n IN response to Hannes of Rundu, don’t blame it on trucks. The minibus overtook two trucks at the same time and collided head on with the oncoming truck. Speed kills!
n I AM disturbed to note that the Polytech of Namibia is appointing BTech holders as lecturers. I am in possession of an MBA Degree and vast experience and have been trying on several occasions to be considered for a position as a ‘tutor’, but in vain. Shall I term this favouritism, nepotism or discrimination?
It’s really intrusive
n TO the people that lie awake and hear the music at night, if you worked harder during the day you will be tired and fall asleep and not lie there and be envious of the night people celebrating life.
