Food for Thought
n POLICE, Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Social Services, what is the official Namibian figure on baby dumping so far? Tell us!

n MEDIA analyst Linda Baumann rocked NBC’s ‘The Week That Was’. And well done to all the guests. Those are the types of people we need to hear and learn from. You were making sense, colleagues. That reminded me of the good old days when Namibian authority was democratic enough to tolerate criticism through talk shows like ‘Open Line’ and ‘Chat Show’.
– Steven Mvula, human rights activist
n CARTOONS at times depict reality but most of the time it’s fun and humour. Leave cartoons out. I like them.
n ‘POLY Punished For Prudence’. When an institution does well, Cabinet members, you reward it rather than shooting it in the foot. How short-sighted.

Many Happy Returns
n I AM glad to wish my true hero of liberation struggle icon Cde Herman Andimba Toivo ya Toivo Happy birthday Cde. We wish you a long and healthy lufe. May God bless you.
– Mr Eden.
Andimba Toivo ya Toivo
n ANDIMBA Toivo ya Toivo, an icon of the liberation struggle, the founding father of the Ovamboland People’s Congress (OPC); a forerunner of Ovamboland People’s Organisation (OPO) and ultimately Swapo, who spent 16 years on Robben Island after being convicted under South Africa’s notorious anti-terrorism law, celebrated his silent birthday on August 22. True heroes do not need to make lavish celebrations. They are hardly remembered when they are alive. I can’t afford to pay for advertisements in newspapers, television or radio so I wish you a happy birthday Comrade! You are our inspiration – just like Fidel Castro in Cuba, Muammar Gaddafi in Libya; Kenneth Kaunda in Zambia and Nelson Mandela in South Africa.
– Shiningombwa
n AN unsung hero? Herman Toivo ya Toivo’s birthday was today August 22. Few or no birthday wishes for him on TV, radio/newspapers. For us, better late than never. Happy Birthday.
n THE OR Award Winner, freedom fighter and democrat, Herman ya Toivo, was born on August 22, 1924 at Omangundu in Oshikoto Region. I salute you Father and leader!
n HAPPY Birthday to you Comrade Andimba Toivo ya Toivo. We will never forget the real struggle you fought until victory. We wish you strength, health and many more years to come. May the Almighty Heavenly God bless you now and ever!
– Yours Comrade JF Halueendo

n TATE Henok ya Kasita when are you going to solve the water problem. People are drinking muddy rain water while taps are there.
Business as Usual
n FROM receipts issued at China Town or Chinese shops it is clear that VAT is not accounted for. Namibian employees employed by Chinese businesses are not registered with Social Security. Who is really benefiting from this?
Education
n WE the parents of learners are tired of giving 5 dollars to our children to give to their teachers during the so called ‘Casual Day’. That casual day money is a must no matter whether a learner is in a school uniform or not. We feel it is unfair. Why are learners in uniform not exempted from paying? We don’t have that money. Learners are threatened that if they don’t pay the amount will be added to their school fees. This usually happens at Hermann Gmeiner PS in Khomasdal.
n WE are very happy for the Government for giving us educational loans but we also want to claim like Unam and the Poly. Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) please allow us to claim from our loans also.
City Fathers Please...
n IT has been two weeks since the City Police supposedly implemented their new zonal policing strategy. No sign yet of an increased police presence anywhere in Windhoek. Empty promises as usual?
Health Matters
n MINISTER (Richard) Kamwi what about alcohol? The so-called ‘kaalgat’ must be next on your agenda. It is more dangerous than tobacco.
n CREDIT must be given to the people that deserve it. Night shift at 3 East Windhoek Central hospital. Well done for your nursing care. May God bless.
NBC
n WHY is Prophet Justina Haihambo’s house (a ‘Mini Village’) being repeatedly screened on NBC’s ‘Open File’? Is there a hidden agenda against her personally or her group? There are many sangomas around claiming to cure incurable diseases. I remember that she recently announced through a private radio that one prominent politician should ‘repent’. Those who are now allowed to differ with her publicly are religious opponents.
n WHEN is NBC going to provide us with gold card as we have paid up our TV licences? I paid mine on July 12 receipt number T684060 and I was told I was first to pay in Otjiwarongo. Please send me my gold card.

Sporting
n TRI Nations Hockey. So what stops you publishing the results of U16 Girls and U14 Girls and Boys who incidentally did very well! Tardiness or typical apathy toward non-Namibianised sports? Of course you’ve got loads of print on soccer and rugby.
Service Please
n MTC please remove that ringback tone/ad from your system! It’s irritating and annoying! Don’t shove another of your ‘brilliant campaigns’ down my throat (ear)!

n I AM a parent of four children. I happened to watch this youth programme ‘School Grounds” and was pleased to find how educative and fun the programme is. And the presenters are good. I would like to urge the NBC to please air more programmes like that to educate our young ones.
Thank you for your positive comments, rest assured that we will continue bringing such shows to the public.
n The NBC TV does not give boxing the air time it deserves. Boxing is one of the sports that is doing Namibia proud but our potential boxers, as well as the fans, are not exposed to the game because there are no more boxing programmes on NBC TV. Please NBC do something!
NBC has covered and broadcast all the major boxing tournaments that took place in the country including Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses’s title defence that was shown live. While we have to cater for all sport codes in the land, boxing remains the most covered sports code by NBC.
n NO more English Premier League on NBC? No more live BBC sports on Saturdays? You people at NBC surely know how to bore people to death. We don’t all enjoy your soapies.
English Premier League is getting (more) expensive every year to the point that no National Broadcaster can afford it. While we are committed to keeping our viewers entertained through sport, it is worth noting that some of these leagues (EPL) come at every high cost. However, NBC is still in discussion with all the parties involved to have the EPL back on the screen soon. As for the BBC sports on Saturday, it has been airing since June (2010) and broadcasts between 15h00 and 18h00. Please tune in and enjoy.

n Please NSFAF can you show us in writing where it says we can only get N$ 12 000 as a refund?
The Ministry firmly urges all tertiary institutions to refund students after deducting what is owed to the institution. The Ministry does not receive the remaining balance.
n Ministry of Education What is your problem? When are you going to pay our tuition fees at UNAM of those who signed the contracts in June?
The MoE is still receiving delayed loan contracts from students; payment will take place after this process is completed. However, payment was already done for students that brought their contracts back on time.
n When is the bush allowance coming for real? Why can’t the people of Nantu, Ministry of Finance, the Education Minister clear the confusion? Is it next month.
The Directorate of Education in all regions have received instructions to process the payments for retention incentives for qualified teachers at remote schools (bush allowance). Please contact the Directorate of Education in your respective regions.

n CI AH Amulunga your explanation regarding the Regional Commanders; please also explain to the nation how is it possible that only the Regional Commanders can stay in Government houses and drive a Government vehicle while they receive massive car and housing allowances as they are on the level of Directors.
n THE person who asked where they can learn more about fashion design can call 081-623-5437.
n CITY Police keeping vendors out of the city will make the city clean but will not reduce the problem of high unemployment. It might also contribute to crime. Vendors are looking for bread. May God help them in their needs.

n MRS Ndaloloka Ndalulilwa that was spot on. Congrats my sister.
