CAN traffic officers please do your work. There are too many reckless drivers in Namibia. Drivers speed at will. Road signs are ignored. One wonders how they got their licences. Worst no visible officers and nothing is done. Where are the law enforcement agents?

THE Namibian, August 5, p.7: The article on Johannes Kazomba and all the weekly articles on SMEs (with info from SMEs Compete) are very encouraging. Congratulations to all these individuals who exhibited courage, boldness and faith. They demonstrate what Namibians are capable of doing. I sincerely hope that someone with the funds available will be willing to buy the machines for Johannes K. Lastly what about a publication on all these SMEs?

CONGRATS on the idea of cleaning the bush areas. Where are we dumping the needed wood ? Remember that certain wood can be used to help generate electricity with which we, as Namibians, have a problem.

THE stance taken by the Bank of Namibia Governor Ipumbu Shiimi on the rate spread in Namibia is admirable and ought to be supported by all consumers/members of public. The whole world is embracing consumer protection and Namibia cannot afford to first wait for a financial tsunami before protecting public interest. It turned out that taxpayers eventually bear the costs when there are market failures as seen elsewhere, thus the proactive reform of banking laws in our country is also appreciated. Governor, congratulations on your new appointment, consumers trust that you will continue to steer the economy in the direction of a mixed economy as intended by our constit-ution in Article 98 (1). The recent call by the Ministry of Trade to businesses to mind their profit margins is also appreciated.

ON August 7, I took my family to Hardap Dam. To my surprise no water in the swimming pool, a restaurant not operating and everything in the process dying slowly but surely. Hardap resort used to be a state of the art attraction. NWR do something immediately to save it.
COMPLAIN! Complain! Complain! That’s all I see on two full pages of this newspaper. Not one of the SMSes has a ‘thank you’ or ‘I’m thankful for...’ in them! Stop complaining! Blame, critisism and negativity seems to be in the order of the day. It’s pathetic.

MR Paulus Kapia is warning the public against the misuse of government social grants. Ag shame papa, this should not come from you. Did you learn a lesson? They say in Afrikaans ‘sweep in front of your own door first’.

CONGRATULATIONS to Henock ya Kasita. What you say is true. We will be just overcrowed in the cells or in prison. Why do the National Councillors and Members of Parliament not care for those who elect them. They only worry about minor things not the millions that are lost like 5 cents. Please people think about your nation only. God help us in Namibia.

I WAS reading in The Namibian that a big snake was found at one of the schools. The Ministry of Environment must take that snake back and put it in the river for safety? But one week ago a kudu was visiting the City of Windhoek and it was shot and killed. Why?
WHAT a big issue the people are making about the kudus that were shot. Imagine what damage they would have cause if not sho? Remember kudus are the main causes of road accidents that lead to human deaths!
WHY can’t MTC and leo help all SPCAs by introducing SMS contributions. That way we may save and feed the beloved animals?

PLEASE be so kind and advertise the liquor law and the usage of alcohol in public because this offence is speading while we have already overcrowded prison cells and youngsters act ignorantly. Shift night clubs somewhere outside business areas who positively contribute towards the economy of Namibia.
A REGULATORY body is seriously needed to overlook and control these bogus SMS competitions that always circulating around to make a quick buck. The public should be warned that such grand prizes are never always announced at the end.
THE museum in Blohm Street is for all Namibians. Not for whites only.

MINISTER A Iyambo I need information from your office. When a teacher must go on maternity leave who must find a replacement teacher and who must pay that teacher?
I WOULD like to hear if the application forms for (teaching) college have changed or not as the colleges recently mereged with Unam.now. Please education directors keep us informed, the time is ripe and we want to apply to higher institutions.

MINISTER of Education please visit Versteende Woud Primary School which is based at Khorixas. The teachers are still punishing the kids. There is no order at that school. For this year there has been no parents’ meeting. There are lots of problems.

YES Mr (Hartmut) Ruppel; good faith is just about the only justification for lending an upstart debt collection company N$11 million. But is that sufficient when you are being tasked with ensuring our government workers’ old age financial independence?
THEY are really a strange lot these people called ‘the board of trustees of GIPF’. Where were they all this time when frantic looting was going on. Now they are coming out of the woods and are insulting the intelligence of Namibians by stating to have laid criminal charges against some companies involved. I for one do not boast a university degree but I am not an idiot to fooled by this public relations spin.

PLEASE City Police and Nampol there are people smoking dagga at a house in Soweto between Dekapolis Street and Eden Street. It’s a green house and we in the nighbourhood can’t take it any more. It’s been a long time now and violence also happens there.
WHAT about cleaning the riverbed in Hochland Park’s Pelican Square. Men are forever sitting there drinking. That should happen first please.
I WOULD like to know how do they fix the cost of erven in the City of Windhoek. I want to know if the Windhoek Municiplity is a profit-making enterprise or a service provider? I want to know the role of the Town Planning Commission, if they are accommodating everyone or just the people who have a lot of money.
Running the Show
MINISTER of Safety and Security your office which grants firearm licenses is a mess. It takes forever and this is hurting the hunting industry and the economy. Clean your house and offer a service for once!
DO you know that it is very difficult to be 100 per cent patriotic to your own country when you have been hungry for the past 20 years? Please leaders, Namibia has enough resources to feed its two million peoples The problem lies with the distributors in this case which is the Government.

SWAKOPMUND Municipality will spend half a million on inter-municipal games. Mr Rooi claims “we also need to have some sort of fun.” Shocking attitude! Think of all the fun people in DRC and elsewhere have when their cardboard boxes burn down. How much fun can it be to live like that in Swakop-mund’s harsh weather conditions? We - taxpayers - demand that our money is used for development and not for fun.

PLEASE do something about the road at Onankali in Kunene Region. Please people there are dying in car accidents.
THE bush clearing exercise that took place in Windhoek after the gruesome murder of a learner must be extended to all parts of Namibia even in houses not only river beds. Bridges should also be constructed from every house to whatever destination in the Kavango Region not only in Windhoek river beds.

THERE is a big problem with keeping the Government offices and surroundings (Boma) in Katima Mulilo clean. There are leaves and bushes within the corridors of the offices. I’m wondering if the supervisors of the cleaners are on permanent leave? Or do the cleaners do what they like and leave what they do not like. These people are paid every month. Maybe they are on strike. These Government offices and surroundings are filthy. No wonder snakes are frequent inhabitants.

TELECOM Namibia how unbelievable. You are the first ones providing Internet in the country but your EVDO modems that cost about N$700 are the least efficient. Pull up your socks.

Health Matters
TO Minister (Richard) Kamwi who suggests that mothers breastfeed their young for up two years; increase maternity leave period to at least six months.
WHEN will the Cancer Association visit Rundu for their annual pap smear.
HEALTH Minister Richard Kamwi please come and investigate the management of the Swakopmund State Hospital. We are tired of the way we nurses are being treated.
MINISTER of Health, can the public know something about the life span of our two main hospital buildings (in Windhoek)?
DR (Richard) Kamwi please remove your incompetent old staff or give them training on how to conduct a post mortem in Walvis Bay. I couldn’t bury my baby due the mortuary nurse giving my baby’s body to the another family whose baby was still in the mortuary. Now I can’t get closure of the loss of my baby and I’ve paid for all funeral arrangements. From whom must I claim my money and how will I know where my baby is buried?
Sporting
A VERY small and humble request. It will bring a big change in the life of the younger generation if they were to know about and take part in sport. All we ask is for the various sport codes’ phone numbers to be openly published for the public. Then the interested parents can enrol their kids. If this can’t be done please forward to the Minister of Sport or any sport director.

THE national team of Namibia must be selected from the sides that finish in first and second positions in the different regions. I know that this will cost a lot of money to set up. If this is not be implemented, Namibia soccer will be stuck in renovation and won’t progress and that’s not what we want. There are a lot of ideas and plans. They must take part in every international under-16 above competition. That’s the foundation and Namibian soccer lacks a foundation. That’s why I say don’t criticise the players.

Election Time
GOBABIS please elect leaders that you can always contact not only during election time.
PLEASE Electoral Commission of Namibia hear what the National Assembly’s member said and don’t shift people out of their regions, who already have sound relations with their councillors, to other regions and you won’t have problems.

NBC please stop repeating history. New DG please take control be your self as we know you.
NBC holding a beauty pageant with a “difference”? Sounds blunt! There’s no artistic, cultural or commercial value for the brain-drained and technically bankrupt state aparatus. Smell the coffee in quality local productions, advertising, technical innovations and perhaps HD quality sound and pictures. That’s why I feel sorry for the new DG because he will have to run to Government to ask for more money. That’s where all former DG’s don’t pass. Since elections are coming, NBC will get a couple of millions to cover our only party. With political meddling part of it; the new guy will feel like a spent cartridge by next year. My last hope though is in the new board chairman, Sven Thieme, a businessman with a proven record.
NBC. I just to find out. We have choirs all over the country. Is NBC’s new prorgamme only for Windhoek choirs?
NBC, can you please shed light on what is happening with your radio and TV network in Okongo.

PERSONNEL office Oshana Education Region. Most of the teachers in our region are over or underpaid due to the mistakes made at the personnel offices in our region. Please if they cannot carry out their duties, employ qualified ones who can.

Responses to recent SMSes
SO sad! These three kudu bulls lived together in the Auas Blick mountains and have roamed the streets at night around State House for the past four years. They were not scared of cars, streetlights and barking dogs. Always a graceful sight on the way home or watching them crossing the lit streets from the balcony.
IT is only possible to test for rabies using a specific brain sample. Therefore the animal must be dead in order to take the sample for testing, be it a kudu, dog or any species. If a person gets rabies, a painful death is inevitable - there is no cure.
THE people who are complaining of kudus, hippo killings should know that those animal were created to be eaten (meat). People complain about things which don’t make sense. Just go in their freezers full of meat, chicken and fish. All those were lives of animals. People can’t change what God created for us to eat and see others as inhuman. We should talk things that build our country.
