Food For Thought
* I THINK there should be some sort of regulation against alcohol abuse. Especially among the youth, before The Land of the Brave, becomes the Land of the Drunk.
– Alton Tsowaseb
R.I.P.
* I LEARNED with great sadness and shock about the news of the untimely death of these young, vibrant, talented and beloved great sons of our soil. It’s a big loss to the parents, GMP, us fans, the music industry and Namibia as whole. RIP brothers and to the man himself – Gazza – be strong man. It’s God’s will to give and take. Their legacy will live on forever.
– Frans Nally
* TO GMP guys who passed away in a car accident may, their souls rest in peace.
– Namibia
* WE the GMP family feel the loss of our beloved brothers, but guys let’s be strong and confide in the Almighty. RIP beloveds!
– Aune
* TO the GMP fans, families and friends, it’s hard to believe that our boys are gone forever. My heartfelt condolences go to the families and I wish you strength during this time of mourning. May their souls rest in peace!
– Justine, GMP Fan

Prime Minister Nahas Angula
* COMRADE Nahas, you’re truly a man of peace. Let’s just hope others emulate as well as you adhere to your noble call. Give peace and tolerance a chance. Shalom.
– Pastor Ben Araeb
* PRIME Minister Nahas Angula, it’s not a joke knowing that I do not have money for my ARVs every month and knowing with the money from BIG I won’t bother anyone any more. Have a heart Prime Minister. That’s why we elected you.
* I FIND it insensitive, disrespectful and unnecessary to print a picture of Mrs Witbooi grieving on the front page. Let her mourn her husband privately.
Chinese Scholarships
* I WOULD like to hear from Mandela Kapere, how come such injustice was done by not giving scholarships to underprivileged children but to high-ranking officials. How do we defend the privileges of youth? Or are you guys silent when you see which names are involved. A man who does not stand and defend what he believes in publicly is a coward. What is wrong is wrong
– Frank Talk
– The Swapo Party Youth League has in fact issued a statement on the scholarships issue. – Newsdesk
* MR President, we thought you were against corruption, what do you call the fact that your daughter, and other high-ranking Government officials’ kids got scholarships from the Chinese government? What happened to the underprivileged and poor Namibians and the Swapo manifesto?
* PRESIDENT Pohamba, we have lost trust in you for letting your daughter use bursaries for the poor.
* TOP brass kids in China with scholarships. Whoa, this is surely the Land of the Brave. Namibians start to sleep with open eyes.
– James, Okahandja
* I’VE never seen a so-called democratic country like ours with leaders who are corrupt, greedy and selfish, who only pursue their own interests. Just count scholarships for the elite, missing millions and hate speeches. Yet the so-called leaders find ways to cover up. Namibia, we are doomed. Period.
– Disappointed Unam student
* WITH our President always preaching corruption, how did his child get the bursary? While they already eat and live for free on taxpayers’ money!
Green And Clean
* I SUPPORT the plastic bag campaign and suggest to Gwen to have an SMS day devoted to going green to coincide with the upcoming global warming function.
That Ad
* HOW is it possible that in 2009 in Africa, we still have whites who do not wish to live with blacks? (See advertisement in The Namibian newspaper: 26th Oct 09, page 26). We suggest Mark go to an ice land!
* WHY is there a flat advertised in The Namibian today ‘white only’? This is illegal and needs to be investigated!
– The publication of the advert is against the policy of The Namibian and is regretted! The client was contacted and advised that it was unacceptable and staff reminded to carefully check the wording of ads to avoid a repeat. – Newsdesk
Education
* I FULLY support Shilongo on the Grade10/12 early examinations. These learners’ academic year is only 8 – 9 months not a year as the authorities claim. Let us agree on November examinations and not in October. The same goes for an early start to the academic year in order for the curriculum to be covered in full.
Make sure all is correct
* WHY are there errors in the Grade 12 papers? They should be checked and rechecked! Errors were almost unheard of with IGCSE.
* MINISTRY of Education, revamp the education system please! Stop overloading the learners with many unnecessary subjects. Learners leave school with no skills at all. I suggest that every learner should only study six subjects from Grade 1 to 12: Two languages, two vocational subjects plus other two subjects depending on the learner’s choice. Subjects such as auto mechanics, electricals, electronics etc should be introduced in early grades. This will arouse the learner’s interest to become engineers and scientists. It will also create self-employment. How do you expect someone to become a scientist after Grade 12 or tertiary education? Everything starts at the bottom. Dump the useless old education system.
– Shilongo
Youth Affairs
* THE National Youth Service ( NYS) must have a strong team that can avoid pregnancies and love affairs in the centre. The third intake of kids are relaxing, even sleeping out during weekends. There is no control and the instructors are just relaxing. They should know their mission that that the NDF sent them to do.
In And From The Regions
* IT is time for elections again, yet 19 years after Independence there are not even street names in Otavi. Wake up my comrades.
– Hilma Kambala, Otavi
NBC
* COULD NBC move the daily exercise slot during Good Morning Namibia to 06h00 so that one can get a workout and still make it to the office on time at 08h00?
General
Don’t do it in public
* THERE’S a law against public indecency. When you see someone exposing him/ herself in public (e.g. urinating), you may take a photo or write down car registration number. Send to Police.
* ARE we Namibians now allowed dual citizenship? Has a law been passed in this regard?
– SS
Service Please
* THE service at Bank Windhoek’s Ondangwa branch is not good. Also, the branch is dirty and staff are buying kapana over the counter!
* THE KENTUCKY outlet in Soweto, Katutura, your service has deteriorated.
Labour Issues
* I’M tired of the poor service offered by a certain personnel officer of the Directorate of Veterinary Services within Agriculture Ministry. When is he going to be in his office? Every time you call there is no answer, medical benefits applications have not been approved and activated since April. Maternity claims forms are never forwarded to SSC. Please improve.
* WHY should we, who work in Government go on pension at 60 years, but the Members of Parliament cannot?
* PRISONS logistic officer, when will we get our full uniform all at once. We always just get it in pieces. Commissioner is that acceptable or is that money excuse again?
* WHAT happened to our comrade Bro Hengari, Mine Workers Union’s Secretary General? Please we need to know, his services are still needed at MUN.
– A few concerned members of MUN, Namdeb
