Food For Thought
* WOULD it not be a better idea to hoist a Namibian flag at each home portraying unity: one nation: rather than separation via politics?
Bouquets And Brickbats
* WHAT a big shame! Namibia topping the list of countries with unequal distribution of wealth and the so-called true leaders are still enriching themselves. Now the Prime Minister has rejected the BIG initiative. Now they are campaigning to vote for them again. why should we vote for you? Another five years of disaster again?
– Xwanda
* CEMENT, dust, food... in a hospital kitchen! Poor patients! Land of the Brave, we are truly on a downward spiral!
* CONGRATULATIONS to the BIG coalition for a well-thought-out and definitive response to the PM’s ill-conceived statements!
* COMRADE PM, if the BIG is a joke, what do you call the N$2 million which is set aside for the “struggle children”? Please sir, take time and read the Progress Report on the BIG!
– WP
* I SALUTE the Polytechnic’s newly elected SRCs, especially Trevor, Elia (Ethics), Sebastian, Shorty (Lydia), Shiimi. Guys and girls you are really trying your best to level the academic ground of the institution, we see potential in you, we love you guys.
– Maggie
We need police in a hurry
* WE of Okahandja Park have a problem with the City Police. They always promise that they are on the way but we waiting from three to five hours, even for serious cases. Secondly, the City of Windhoek has already forgotten us. The place is too dark. We want lights. We can’t afford paraffin and wood. Please stop promising and do something.
* THANKS to the Ministry of Health and Social Services for visiting Bushmanland! Things are never right until seniors get to know what is happening with those assigned with responsibilities! Please keep it up. Sometimes make it impromptu!
– Bushmanland resident
* WANAHEDA Police Station members, do you not have sympathy for your fellow Namibians. Why, if a client needs help, are you standing around and playing with cellphones and doing their private things.
– Concerned Namibian
That New Museum
* N$100 MILLION for a monument when they already spent millions on the Heroes’ Acre outside Windhoek? How many schools, hospitals and even homeless people could have been helped with this money? Stop wasting our tax money!
* Dear fellow Namibians, let us not accept this ugly monstrosity of an Independence Museum which Government is building next to the Christuskirche. Was there no money for a decent designer\architect? We will be the laughing stock of Southern Africa!
* Just a cool N$ 100 mil for a museum-do we need it now? What about proper housing for our people living in poverty? I know it will be build even if the nation objected. Remember the Falcon, State house. Listen to the people!
R.I.P.
* WHAT we want to see in Namibia is what Hon (Johan) de Waal said at the memorial service of Hon (Hendrik) Witbooi that hate speech is not allowed in Namibia.
Politics
* I WOULD like to thank Hon Henk Mudge (Republican Party) for having raised the question of pardoning alleged Caprivi secessionists with His Excellency, our President H Pohamba. Though our President gave an answer full of humility, he is a good man; why can’t he use the same executive powers our Founding President, Dr Sam Nujoma used when he resolved the Rehoboth saga? Or do we have more executive powers operating in one region than the other? If pardoning is that hard, why not grant amnesty to all Namibian political prisoners/secessionists in the best interests of Namibia?
* POOR people you’ll have to fight for your rights otherwise you will remain poor. All your generations will be poorer. Wake up! Ask a simple question to the MPs. Who will take care of your children in terms of bursaries. My heart bleeds about the Chinese bursaries. Remember there is nothing free!
* FOURTEEN political parties for a population of only two million is a joke. How do we unite if at elections we are already severely divided. Two party system is a better option: either left or right – period.
– Dayakohambo
* NAMIBIANS should do away with the war mentality. There is no need for “political parties can fight their own battles”. It should be about “all citizens shall have the right to participate in peaceful political activity intended to influence the composition and policies of Government”, the Namibian Constitution, Article 17. NSHR is playing its monitoring and advocacy role to, among others, ensure that the election process is not only free, fair and credible but is seen to be as such. To have such an election, ECN, as an independent and transparent body, has to ensure that registered or listed voters are alive, 18 years or above, and qualifying Namibians. A voter education and information dissemination campaign is impartial. Political parties do their campaigns with respect to the Constitution and other laws. The printing of ballots, the voting and counting is doubt-free.
– Steven Mvula, NSHR’s spokesperson
Election Fever
* SWAPO and the Government should see no shame in awarding the ballot paper printing tender to foreigners when local capacity exists, after all, is it not Swapo’s Government that awards tenders to the Chinese when local capacity exists?
Don’t forget the blind voters
* CURIOUS! Do the blind people vote? If not why not – they can’t be neglected due to their blindness. Mr President please don’t turn a blind eye. Do something for them, they are our fellow Namibians.
* TENDER to a foreign company? Will this company employ locals? Opposition before you are elected to power you are giving our jobs away to foreigners. Atata!
Elijah Ngurare
* [ELIJAH] Ngurare of SPYL’s concerns about the ECN tender being given to a foreign company are real, but too late. Because that’s how Namibians always feel when the Chinese companies are given so many tenders that could have put a smile on Namibians. What goes around comes around.
Green And Clean
* LET Namibia learn from others before it’s too late. Yes, plastic bags must be controlled! Also companies should do away with unnecessary packaging: toothpaste tubes need not be in boxes. Green is Great! Green and Clean!
Rights On
* I AM an HIV-positive mother who gave birth to an HIV-negative baby. I was sterilised without being told that I was sterilised by a nurse or a doctor. I want to have more children but right now I don’t seem to have the right. But it’s my body and I’m the one with the disease. What happened to our rights?
In And From The Regions
Flooding in the North
* ONDANGWA Town Council, where is the flood money? We pay water and electricity but there is still no development. Our house was underwater but nothing has been done until now. We need the minister’s intervention in this matter.
– Hilde P
* WE the Tamariskia and Vineta residents are tired of noise from the popular club and bar. Swakopmund Municipality and Police please rescue the residents.
* OMULUNGA radio, we also need your radio airwaves around Omuthiya area. Not everyone has access to a computer to tune in to your station.
* ONGWEDIVA to Oshakati and vice versa. Please Ongwediva Municipality open the road between Ongwediva and Okatana so that we can reach Oshakati easily.
* ONE AFRICA, we are very disappointed in your services. There was a promise made long ago by your company but we, the citizens of Mariental, are the only ones in Namibia that do not have One Africa TV.
– Citizen From Mariental
Be careful in the road
* RUNDU Police, please you must do something. There are too many people on the roads. Some are on bicycles, some are just sitting in the middle of the road. When trucks are overtaking each other, at the edge of the road where the yellow line is, you find a group of people walking following each other. Any single mistake from the drivers will kill them. Please do something so that these people stay off the roads.
Health Matters
Gates should be closed
* WHAT is happening at Okakarara Hospital? The gate is open 24/7, it is never locked. Mattresses are going missing, the food in the wards is not enough for the patients since food is served to hospital workers from nurses to cleaners. Please Okakarara Hospital management do something.
– Very disappointed visitor
* WHY should service to people with HIV take so long. I am not happy about not giving clients ARVs if the support is not there. They should know that we are also busy people.
Education
* CAN the Namibian Chess Federation give each region 42 chess sets, please? We also want to play chess.
– Grade 7 learner
* I’M really disappointed in the Ministry of Education. They don’t fund postgraduate studies at all. So here I am with an honours degree in geology but I cannot go any further than this. I have acceptance letters from universities abroad but the Ministry of Education tells me they can’t help. Bottom line is, they don’t want us to go into research. How does that help Vision 2030?
– A concerned Namibian.
* UP for public debate. Should the Government pay internship students or not?
* MINISTRY of Education, why do Grade 10 and 12 learners always start the final examination early? Why don’t they start in November? This is the cause of high failures because teachers do not have enough time to do revision. Does it take long to mark examination papers or to print the certificates? Let the learners begin writing examinations in November please. This will improve the pass rate. Stop dumping our precious children in the streets.
– Shilongo
* THE idea of community volunteer teachers was introduced in the late nineties. Schools were encouraged to use the services of volunteers to come and teach learners on some topics that need experts. However they should not take teaching overall. In case of staff shortages, schools should make internal arrangements until the Ministry can provide teachers. Learners have many special needs that need to be catered for and this can only be done by someone who is trained as a teacher.
ACC Alert
* ACC: Have you started investigating the allocation of the Chinese bursaries? They were earmarked for needy learners but given to wealthy learners!
* WHAT is preventing the ACC from investigating the secret allocation of Chinese bursaries to the children of high-ranking Government officials, if each and every person, they themselves included, knows that this is a clear conflict of interest? Just wondering.
* WHAT is Mr Noa of the ACC’s take on this whole bursary issue? Is he blinded by what we all see as corruption, untouchable politicians or is he afraid of losing his job once he names and shames unscrupulous politicians. Are these the leaders we are supposed to vote for when they clearly don’t care about the youth from poor families who need those bursaries.
General
* WHY do girls have sex when they know they will not be able to care for the baby?
It’s too loud!
* KATUTURA resident: There is already a law against noise pollution. It was published last year in one of the Aloes. There were also numbers to phone to report noise in your area!
Service Please
* PLEASE MTC, we are having network problems at our beloved school Martin Luther High. We all buy credit and call but face this network problem. It is not only our school but also the neighbouring farms. Please help and us come and check.
* To FNB, regarding the solar loan scheme, you really disappointed us. How many applicants are still for answers now after four months. You promised the processing time would be three days.
– Disappointed solar technician

* NBC stop showing predators tearing antelopes apart after 22h00 when you have trouble screening news!
