* PLEASE Mr President [Hifikepunye Pohamba] I know that you will be the president of Namibia for the next five years. And some of us wish you to be one. My concern is for you to be equal to all Namibians with regard to development. Yes you were voted in by Swapo supporters, though there are opposition parties. After elections may God give you the courage to be equal. Don’t just think of the North and leave out Kunene. God gave us Independence of all Namibians not only one side. God bless you.
Food For Thought
* WE have had a long-term relationship with them since the early days! China has become the nightmare to us, the leaders of Africa! Sometimes we should acknowledge when the ground talks! Because we will blame no-one when the hiccup comes!
Election Fever
* LET Namibia be the light of the dark continent this election of 2009.
– A voter in the queue
* STRANGE, the USA with a population 2 000 times the size of Namibia had successfully managed to announce 80 per cent of their incoming results two hours after polling stations closed. But here in Namibia, it is distressing, and a matter of concern, it takes us more than 16 hours to announce the first results and four days for the total and final results. Are we really so incompetent and incapable of running things fast and smoothly. And what would be the reason behind that, after 19 years?
– Setho
* CONGRATULATIONS to the Electoral Commission of Namibia, especially the director Mr Moses Ndjarakana. The first day of elections went smoothly without any interference. Hope the Almighty will keep you longer to direct us again in 2014.
– Ndekandua
* YES to court we go, don’t take it lying down. We are behind you. ECN you can’t fool us all the time. Viva Phil ya Nangoloh and NSHR team.
* ‘ELECTION Results Guide’. You claim in The Namibian (supplement of Friday, 27 November), but for me it is only a “part guide” as it has no provision for the total seafarers and foreign expatriates who have already voted.
– Dr Caramba Mia
* THE day of voting, we came at 06h00 but we had to wait until 07h40 at the municipal hall at Gobabis.
Namibian voters wait patiently
* THE ECN’s painstakingly slow voting process shows that there were flaws in preparations. Queuing for five hours is unnecessary and unacceptable. It’s a sign of irresponsibility.
* I’M astonished by the contact of the people here at Michele McLean Otjomuise polling station, all different people chatting and awaiting their chance peacefully. Viva Namibians. Viva peace!
* IT was the first time I voted and it was a terrible experience! What very poor and discouraging service at Windhoek Central Hospital on Saturday morning. I couldn’t understand why they were so slow.
* ALL political parties: Voting is over. It is now your responsibility to remove all your posters. Do not litter and vandalise. Thanks.
* WHY do we vote in pencil? Is this the case everywhere?
* Why do we vote with pencils?
* ALLOW me to ask the ECN: Why do we have to use a pencil in voting, because a pencil can easily be rubbed out?
– Obbie Trice, Katima Mulilo
* ON November 27, my wife and I voted at the polling station at the Walvis Bay Municipal Social Club Hall. We had to use a pencil to make the cross on the ballot paper. My question is, is that legal? Because anybody can wipe it out and change it. Thanks.
* I WENT to vote at Emma Hoogenhout Primary School in Windhoek East constituency, Khomas Region and I was amazed to see Deputy Minister Pohamba Shifeta in the long queue. You gave a good example, keep it up.
– Akwaake, Walvis Bay
* THERE was a lack of planning at the Youth Centre polling station in Opuwo. People had to wait in line for ink from other polling points, more time wasted waiting for materials.
– John Z
* ECN, can you organise a party in a brewery? At 08h30 on Saturday morning, St Paul’s polling station (Windhoek East) runs out of voting papers! Puleez.
– Juanita
* I’M worried and upset by the election officers at Mandume Primary School, we were in the queues for hours because of ink. How can you wait until the ink gets finished before reporting or ordering? Are they not supposed to have spare?
* I JUST want to ask why is there is Swapo flag on top of the Moses Garoëb School polling station. Is it necessary? Are we also welcome to vote there?
– UDF member
* I HAVE been standing in the queue since five. I hope, after my vote, you don’t forget about me if you get into power Mr Politician.
Politics
* ANYONE with Mr [President] Pohamba’s number? I want to ask him to ride in his newly ordered limo and latest Mercedes, when it gets here that is. This is the taxpayer’s money, and I walk a long distance just to get to school. Couldn’t he use that 10 million to buy each student a scooter? Or at least a second-hand car?
* JUST imagine how many Namibians could have undergone life-saving surgery with the money set aside for the President’s limo and Mr [Hage] Geingob’s Land Cruiser.
* I HAVE followed the latest developments on the Namibian political landscape. I sense that we are headed for a federal government system. NBC should encourage debate on this topic please.
– T, Walvis Bay
* HOW can the politicians want the churches to participate in politics while the parties insult each other? It’s really ugly. It’s not good because these things are leading churches into darkness. So people talking badly about other parties must stop if they want us (churches) to participate or help in election.
– Pastor Moteka, Gobabis
* THANKS Swapo Government for helping our traditional leaders with their Hiluxes. Now they can work easily and independently. Viva Swapo. Let’s keep peace and stability.
* DOUBLE-CAB bakkies for Traditional Authorities: I am thankful to the Government of Namibia for recognising the Traditional Authorities as the leading role players of the nation, in all the different tribes and cultures. Shame on the reader who says there goes my tax money. We also pay tax and have all the respect for the Traditional Authorities of Namibia.
– BTA, Karasburg,
* DOES Dr Melber, who has been a Swapo member since 1974, still belong to that party?
* OUR Government leaders don’t care about the poor and unemployed. Why would they employ wives of ministers who are employed already?
Bouquets And Brickbats
* WHAT are you paying? November 26. Thanks The Namibian for being the watchdog for the consumer. Now we have an idea of how we are being treated by retailers.
* GOOD news is that the recently short-listed candidates, with the Kai Ganaxab Youth Centre, represent the wide spectrum of all groups across Namibia. Even the forgotten southerners from Hardap and Karas are listed in big numbers. What a surprise! That’s good.
* WINDHOEK Police have improved. I was helped by two very courteous staff like the very friendly Linia Erastus. Keep up the good work.
* KEEP it up police officers at Mavuluma Clinic, especially the lady Sergeant you were monitoring the situation.
– Simbilinganh, Mulilo Katima.
* A BIG thank to Bishop Zephania Kameeta of the ELCRN Church for his statement on poverty in Namibia. The statement is reasonable and understandable and full of facts.
– Concerned citizen
* PROUD soldier, I agree with you! Parents must provide for their own children. If they know they don’t have money, then they must not have children!
* IT is quite amazing in this day and age that a school like the Windhoek Gymnasium saw fit to obliterate virtually every indigenous tree and shrub on their new premises. What kind of environmental ethos do they plan to instil in children if this is how they do things? From the look of their new facilities, a few trees could only have been an improvement.
In And From The Regions
* PLEASE the Government must implement two extra housing construction projects. Please our fathers NHE can’t do it alone and they are expensive as well. Housing is major problem in our country.
– AA Kooko.
* RURAL water supply, Ohangwena Region. Please check what happened to the water tank lying at Ondjoba. Please pick it up.
– Patriotic citizen
* CAN the Ministry of Local Government and Anti-Corruption Commission do something about Leonardville village council cars which workers are using to learn how to drive. They are driving without licences. Are these not government vehicles?
– Concerned community member
A messy town in Haiti
* OPUWO Town Council what happened to your town? It looks awful. Please change your look. You are chasing us away from the business we want to conduct there. Please clean your town.
* PLEASE Selco, hope you have seen the example at Rehoboth. Most of the newly built houses have been electrified. What about Aranos? Even in Stampriet smaller than Aranos. Give credit to NamPower. Give us light as an election gift. All these years after Independence.
* PLEASE, Nored if you care about other places why not us? Just imagine in Mukwe Constituency, you can only buy electricity at Martin Ndumba. At the moment the machine is broken and no-one has come to fix it. Please Nored at least come and put another machine that sells electricity at Divundu shopping centre or Hombe supermarket.
– Edwin Dash
Please Help
* PLEASE what happened to the Windhoek Lager Unique Numbers press announcement in the newspapers of their cash prices?
Education
* CAN I ask a question? Are teachers allowed to subject learners to physical and verbal abuse? If not then why are teachers still doing this? Come on, Namibia is free country!
– Leevi KB Namwira
* MATHS and Science teachers: Go to all schools in your area and give in your documents. Also go to the Inspectors in your area!
* THESE physical science and maths teachers who are unemployed, must be blind. I see constantly advertisements for those posts! Borrow all newspapers daily.
* I REALLY don’t know what the use is of computers at Onesi SSS? At least there must be extra classes for computers, we can’t just have computers but we don’t now how to use them.
– Nakuk
* MINISTER of Education, Nangolo Mbumba, are you aware that some schools in Caprivi Region are made of old grass and mud and it’s now summer?
MVA Fund
* ABOUT the MVA Fund and Harry Simon. Surely now the MVA can institute civil proceedings against Simon or his insurance company to recover the damages, seeing he was at fault?
* WELL the Harry Simon accident is a sad story. I don’t think the Belgian tourists would have got that much even if the accident had happened in Europe.
City Fathers Please ...
* WOULD the Windhoek Municipality start keeping their promises? I have a broken pipe that links my house to the meter outside and I have reported it several times to the Wanaheda office for two months now. The last time was on November 27 and they have not come yet. When are they going it? Why do they always take that long to attend to us, we are now tired. Please Municipality improve your services! Thank you for doing so.
* CITY of Windhoek please upgrade or change your system so it can reflect our balances immediately after payment. Your current system takes too long to update.
* PLEASE Windhoek City Police, do something at Monte Cristo. Bus drivers are fighting over us passengers a lot, 20 drivers over one customer. I even lost my bag there one day. I will be killed by drivers!
– Serak, Oshikulu
* UNTIL when will the perpetrators continue damaging vehicles in the extremely dark areas of Otjomuise 8ste Laan area at night? Can City of Windhoek and the Government please do something about it? Our lives are at risk!
General
* WOMEN, when your husband is abusive, call the Police! Or arrange with a child/neighbour to call. When they come, let them take the husband, not the children!
Don’t abuse drugs and alcohol
* LADIES/MOTHERS: don’t abuse drugs and alcohol then Police don’t have to call social workers. And if you only want your husband to be warned, the Police cannot take him. And please, children don’t deserve domestic violence.
* CAN The Namibian please get a Facebook account to make it easy for our technology oriented youth, (not to forget literate (lol :-)) ) to express themselves about issues in our country that concern and affect them. Peace.
– Loise Negumbo
– Idea noted! – News Editor
* SCRATCH-A- Million. Did you not read last week’s newspapers? Freddy, the owner-manager was arrested. Company is illegal!
Health Matters
* I OFTENTIMES see drivers (men) urinating on the wheels of their vehicles and wonder whether this practice is not a health risk for tyre repair workers when handling tyres during repair.
Don’t forget rabies shots
* ARE we safe from rabies? Are the rural dogs vaccinated against rabies? Are the dog owners aware if vaccine is available? We need such protection from the Ministries of Health, Safety and Security and from Veterinary Services.
And Justice For All
* NO wonder Transparency International recently rated Namibia as one of the highly corrupt countries in the world. Most of these corrupt practices are committed by people of high rank both in Government and parastatals. Therefore it is high time that our Government stands up and punishes those who are responsible for these evil acts. They are tarnishing the name of our beautiful country with their selfish behaviour.
* LONG delays with judges giving verdicts? Easily solved ... simply fine them N$1 000 per day each day after a month of deliberation. If a judge hasn’t got his/her act together by that time then they don’t warrant their position.

Service Please
* MTC, please we also want to enjoy the free calls and SMSes. We urgently need network coverage at Oidimba, Onakalunga and the nearby villages. Eenhana’s network is to far and Omundaungilo just comes in at night.
* MTC, Please check your network especially during the free hours from 21h00 to 23h00. It is really frustrating being interrupted by a stranger while busy in a conversation. Strange but true.
* TO all concerned: Wherever you put the ‘Senior Citizen’ sign up, please indicate the age group you allow. Thanks to FNB Main Branch, Windhoek for that specification.
* OTJIWARONGO Truworths manager where are the good old staff members that we used to know like Wilma? Please train the new people.
* FNB please let your clients register for cellphone banking through SMS or by calling a certain number. your branches are always busy and one cant stand for hours. Besides that you are doing a great job. Keep your clients happy!
* I WAS disgusted on visiting the toilet facilities next to Game in Windhoek to see a turnstile is fitted and a dollar has to be paid. And for what? No toilet seat, no lock on the door. How dare they charge? Whoever is responsible get your act together.
– Out of town visitor
Labour Issues
* MINISTER of Labour please help us at Walvis Bay (name supplied), some of us have worked for almost 10 years without monthly salaries and a pension. Please help us, some of us are getting old now without anything like pension.
