Food For Thought*
CAN someone please find a way in which we can sing the National Anthem with African rhythm and vuma. The current official taped recordings are just not African.
n NO rainbow is monochromatic and big majorities do not confer a monopoly of either wisdom or patriotism. When we encourage dissent and welcome a debate about alternatives, we allow ourselves, the nation we serve, the widest of all choices and true test of alternatives.

Politics
* THE Gucci revolutionaries in the SPYL could not care less about empowering and developing the youth in this country. Why do they not give bursaries or financial assistance to the youth? Swapo has got a lot millions invested in many companies.

* I SUPPORT the President that the church should intensify its role of spreading the message of peace, tolerance and mutual respect in this election year.
n EISH, this politics, how far one can go, now both (President) Pohamba and (ANC President Jacob) Zuma attended church services and “received blessings” from former enemies. Hopefully our brothers in Zim will also hear from President Mugabe that he has repented.
* [PRESIDENT] Pohamba in church. What a joke to call on others for help while everybody is waiting for him to at least do something about corruption.
* IN response to Mr Lens G Jakobs, who was suggesting that The Namibian should be registered as a political party, it makes me wonder at the level of critical thinking and political literacy of some Namibians. The Namibian is a newspaper and Ms Lister is the editor. Newspapers must report happenings – politics, social, economics etc.

* I’M 16 years old and what I can see and hear in Zimbabwe will soon come to this country due to the recklessness of our politicians. I’m always angry when people approach our President in many ways and refer to the party RDP as the Kwanyama party. Not only because I’m also Kwanyama-speaking but I don’t know anything about politics. It’s bad to call it a tribal party while it accommodates Caprivians, Hereros and other tribes, even whites. My political party is Swapo because it is where both my parents are but as the days pass politicians are becoming aggressive. Where are we going this way? What good examples are you setting for us? Please let’s all change and live in a democratic country peacefully because if you bring here what is in Zimbabwe only us innocents will suffer! Stop insulting leaders telling them ‘Shame on them’, rather than advising them. I hope you will consider my SMS and big change will be discovered! We youth need to see you as brothers and sisters but not enemies of opposition parties and show the nation!
* WE want to see what will happen if Minister Iivula-Ithana loses her temper. Is she the kind of leader Namibia has? She should be very ashamed about her remarks about the land reform in Zim. She must do herself a big favour and learn to be quiet when something is beyond her comprehension.
– Linus @ Otjiwarongo
* GOOD idea, a RDP and Swapo coalition will definitely bring peace and harmony into Namibia with Mr (Hidipo) Hamutenya as Prime Minister of course. Let us learn to take wise power sharing examples from our nearby neighbours. Bonus! Swapo two-thirds will be guaranteed. Peace, peace, peace.
Running The Show
* WITH the Budget to be tabled on Thursday [tomorrow], I really hope that Government has heard the nation’s plea and will cut taxes. Even though there’s going to be a salary increment for public servants, it won’t bring much change if tax stays the same. Please cut taxes in these difficult times. Currently we contribute about 35% of our salaries to tax, why not reduce it to 30%?
n PRESIDENT Pohamba please fire all ministers from Caprivi because they are a disgrace to the region. They don’t even have houses in that region. People of Caprivi are suffering, they need an urgent reopening of Meatco because it’s people’s lives we are talking about here. None of our leaders in Parliament have ever brought this issue to our Head of State.

* GIVE the Windhoek municipality a break about potholes. They are doing the best they can.

* A BIG thank you to Anna Nicodemus for the great job she’s doing. Can you check the Kamholo family and how they are coping with the flood situation please!
* THE SMS writer requesting a re-screening of the Kamholo family on NBC Open File should remember that they are humans with rights to privacy and unnecessary encroachment, just like everyone else. If you were really touched by what you saw or heard, should it take another screening for you to make up your mind to help? Just put yourselves in the shoes of family members for a minute, for the rest of our lives we have to put up with heartless speculations as to what the cause of this disorder might be. It is not by choice that we have been born into a family with such a genetic disorder. Similarly, we appeal to NBC for balanced reporting on this case. If you genuinely care to help, stop sensationalising the issue, or you will find yourselves facing legal cases.

* THANK you to Bourquin van Wyk of Nedbank at Maerua Mall. He is a rare example of excellent customer service in Namibia

* I WOULD like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Diedericks at the Ministry of Home Affairs headquarters. Her work is exemplary. She is friendly and helped everyone. Thank you meme. Please comrade Minister these are people who have the nation at heart. Keep up the good work, Mrs Diedericks.
* AS DJs we never take time to thank the crowd for turning up at gigs. To all who turned up for the Zed Nite, it was a killa nite! Much appreciation to ObsessionZ and Tafanji. It’s sad we had to close the doors because it was too full.

* I WOULD like to express my gratitude in respect of the advert for ‘Trophy hunting concessions on State land’ published in The Namibian of Monday, March 16 2009. I hope that the ban is finally lifted!

Labour Issues
* I HAVE an immediate supervisor (GRN) who never talks to me, even when he travels out you just realise it when his car is not in the building. When assigning anything to me, he just writes on a piece of paper. In most cases, he ignores me and just assigns responsibilities to my juniors directly. Can someone please tell me whether this is normal and if not, advise what I should do. I approached him on several occasions asking him if there is anything that he expects me to improve on, but his answers were always that he had no problem with my performance.
* WE in Oshakati want the hospital superintendent to help us because we work our overtime, but when you claim it can even take months. Where is the problem? We want to know.
* (EVILASTUS) Kaaronda, they (board) recently suspended Rainer Ritter, why is your federation and its management mum about it. Is this case not treated the same as Titus Haimbili’s (TransNamib) case. What do we call this, double standards?
n MINISTRY of Youth get rid of incompetent workers. Come and visit the Outapi Youth Centre, Omusati Region. The centre opens at 08h15 and closes before 17h00. Staff come to work as they want. There is no supervision.

Traffic Cop Takes The Cake!
* CAN a traffic officer make a U-turn in a middle of the road like a taxi driver? When I questioned him he wanted to give me a ticket. Too bad I did not take the car registration number. The time was 08h20 March 17 in Klein Windhoek at the Klein Windhoek OK Supermaket!

* CAN anyone help me with information about dyslexia. I have a dyslexic child.
* MR (Junias) Kandjeke (the Auditor General) is doing a good job by providing us with auditing information and the millions of dollars that civil servants owe the state. But he has failed to provide us with information about millions that the State owes its workforce. Can Mr Kandjeke be so kind and provides us with such information?

* I AGREE with Mr (Andimba) Toivo ya Toivo, also Ms (Rachel) Coomer we need stricter laws, stiffer sentences. Take the rape of children and women. If a man can’t control his sexual desire and is found guilty of rape, remove his sexual organs. There will soon be no more rape.
