* MOST of the youth of this country are unemployed, something that our leaders can easily alleviate. In spite of their unemployment situation they are not considered at all. In fact they are not important. And now with the forthcoming election, youth are all of a sudden more important, urged to go and vote. What is the point in electing people who don’t care about your welfare? – Concerned youth.
Food For Thought
* MY deepest sympathy to the family of the Krugers who were killed at Omaruru. Another couple was attacked today in Windhoek. Do we really live in peace? Is it so difficult to accept each other, no matter our skin colour? Our political, church, community leaders, what do we say? Very sad indeed!
* MY countrymen, why don’t we stand up and protest against these people who kill our fellow countrymen? Let’s unite against all types of crime, just the way we protest when a woman is murdered. Let’s make the message clear that it is wrong to kill fellow countrymen. – Dandago G
Politics
* I THINK that all presidential candidates for the upcoming elections should have a presidential debate on education, HIV-AIDS, etc. We don’t even really know who we voting for! – JV
* NAHAS Angula may have seen only animals and no people at Erindi but on Government resettlement farms he will find exactly the opposite. Now which one makes economic sense? And on the topic of absenteeism, why are the vast majority of public servants’ whereabouts at any time between 8 and 5 unknown when they are phoned – even days at a time?
* PRESIDENT (Hifikepunye) Pohamba, on March 21 2009 in Keetmanshoop you told the Namibian nation to its face that you will not accept the new presidential jet. Tell the nation to its face that there will be no office block for the former president. Maybe then, just maybe …
Running The Show
* GRN has left the basic service delivery unreformed, e.g. poor education, the worst in Africa, two-thirds of the population do not have houses, they live in shacks and 60% of people are unemployed. Why? People because the Government elite got its service elsewhere, N$1 billion State House, N$600 million planes and other wastage. That is why Namibia has seen a better life for few but not for all the people. The power is in hand to change this. – Kamati
* MINISTER of Finance, what do you think about us that do not get enough salary that you allow the bank to tax the little savings we have in our bank accounts?
* I THINK something is wrong with the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, especially at regional level. We don’t see them visiting us in the rural areas because their visiting programmes to travel are always turned down. Can the Minister, Premier and the President intervene please, we need coverage and information from them!
Politics In General
* I AGREE, Sudan’s El Bashir should stand for war crimes, but not before we know others like Bush, Blair, Bin Laden, Netanyahu, Mugabe, Nkunda, Koni and many others will follow suit. At the moment only Slavs and Africans have been indicted for war crimes, while terror practitioners worldwide roam freely. I want genuine international justice! The AU is not speaking on my behalf in their defence of El Bashir. Why do they have peacekeepers in Darfur in the first place?
Open Line
* NBC Open Line presenter (Tebs Xulu) please do the nation a favour. You cannot be a programme presenter at the same time as you are speaking on behalf of Swapo or any group. When we are calling in to raise our views we don’t need to agree with your opinions in order for us to be granted fair airtime. He pretends that the line is facing some problems but he is the one cutting off people, especially those who differ with him. – Hanooshikwashike Vakwetu
* THE presenter Tebs Xulu is unprofessional, even went to the extent of calling a caller an RDP member. Is it a sin to belong to RDP in this country? Whenever Tebs is presenting, it’s always like that. Tebs does not know his role as a presenter. He is always defending, even to the extent of giving feedback on the spot. Acting DG, please send this presenter for training before he damages the NBC more.
* HOW can the NBC allow Tebs Xulu with his arrogant and aggressive behaviour and his obvious bias to run Open Line? Give it to Soini Negongo. At least she tries her best to be fair.
* I THINK Tebs XULU is a disgrace to journalism in Namibia. After failing to read the news properly all these years, he has been installed as Swapo’s biggest propagandist on Open Line and he is shamelessly doing a flawless job!
* LISTENING to the Open Line programme of Tuesday March 17, I think the NBC Acting DG and management should seriously take action. – BAB, Karas
* CAN NBC change the Open Line programme’s name to the Tebs Show? He took over the show to satisfy Swapo. He is misleading the nation by supporting his comrades even when they are wrong. He is the one debating issues with callers. Telling callers to go back and read their dictionaries is just rude. Hey!
* WHAT is it with some Oshiwambo NBC presenters, a certain KK (Kandeshi Kandume) on March 17 played a song that says: ‘Hidipo watch out Swapo has got guns’ (Hidipo takamitha Swapo okuna oondjembo) What is she trying to bring about? She must explain to the nation, NBC is for taxpayers not for Swapo, she is instigating violence. – Kotokeni
Bouquets And Brickbats
* HI I’m very worried about this story of Erindi. Why are some people like small kids? If I was the Member of Parliament I would support Mr Joubert for keeping our economic growth up. I will say viva Joubert. You do something for our nation. Keep it up. – Unemployed JR Khaebeb
* LANGERHANS Pharmacy is tops on customer service especially their Green Cross shoe section. Keep it up. – KGB
* I WAS visiting Henties Bay and went to the Henties Butchery. After a year, just by entering it, a man greets me with a smile and good morning. What a nice man! Even the butchery and meat standards have improved. I will really come again. – David, Windhoek
Matters Of The Heart
* TO all married men I just want to say, love your wives with all your hearts. The grass always looks greener on the other side. Get over your own insecurities and stop looking to find something or another woman to compensate for your own lack! Your woman accepts you just for who you are. But be warned of the day when she cries enough. Whenever a woman turns her heart and mind, all else will be in vain. To the pleasure toys, you will never match up because you will remain the easy option out! You will bear the married woman and their children’s tears as long as you live. And if you decide to continue with your ways, remember what goes around, comes around. And then you deserve each other because you both have enormous lacks in your lives. Hope you will try to fill each other’s incompetence. Good luck in others search for yourselves and for the disastrous journey, for what it is worth.
City Fathers Please...
* DID the City of Windhoek really consider us as people, those living at Goreangab? Why can’t they rectify the power which is always going off at around 19h00. We want better service.
* PLEASE City of Windhoek, put speed bumps for us in Gemini Street, Dorado. Our house walls are victims of those racing drivers
General
* DEAR Sir/Madam that you paid N$20 to the (security) guard is not corruption. You wanted to deposit money urgently. So it can be.
* ECN use electronic voting machines, manual voting and counting is outdated.
* IS it really true that Government (or traditional authorities) is thinking of charging N$50 as a permit for one to catch fish? If yes, then they must also do the same with mushrooms, berries and other natural resources.
* ORDER, order, order. Can Nabta please make a plan with the minibuses which are loading people at Monte Christo bus stop. Drivers are fighting with each other and grabbing the commuters’ belongings. We fear for our lives. Do something please. I want to travel regularly, but the unpleasantness is keeping me from doing so.
* WE sometimes see or hear doctors held accountable for their misdeeds. But what about certain controversial lawyers that behave lawlessly or unprofessionally?
High Flyers
* GOODBYE Air Namibia. We simply cannot afford your services any longer, the dividends that we used to get from the mines have ceased due to no output. The tax income reduced due to retrenchment of employees therefore no taxes were paid. We simply cannot use the dividends from other parastatals to bail you out. We will rather invest in maintaining our infrastructure, new schools, nationalise certain mines. This relationship between us is over. Wish you well.
* IF Air Namibia stops flying intercontinental routes at a loss and only fly the profitable routes, Government can fully pay the overseas flight tickets to Namibians and it will cost far less than N$180 million.
* AIR Namibia is a threat to our lives and tourism industry. Last Thursday night, one of its engines burst while taking off at Frankfurt International Airport. I saw the flames myself from one of its right-wing engines. We were terrified to hear from the pilot that the aircraft had developed a technical problem and must return to the airport. Both the pilots and cabin crew were late and only boarded the plane about 30 minutes before take-off. I could hear passengers badmouthing about Air Namibia and Africa. I personally see no reason for Air Namibia to operate overseas routes because other competent airlines can equally bring tourists to Namibia. Botswana only fly regionally but their tourism industry is bigger than the Namibian one. Take action now before its too late. – Terrified and Lucky Passenger
Education
* MY request goes to those school principals who preach political slogans at school morning assembly and staff rooms to stop it. For example Ruacana High School.
* MY son is in Grade 5 at Namutoni Primary School in Katutura. They have not had a teacher for mathematics and natural science since January. I am really surprised, disturbed and shocked by this situation to see learners in the capital city without a teacher for couple of months. What are the inspector and director doing? How would they feel if these were their kids?
