Food For Thought
* WHY are there still people in Namibia without land, without a home? Why are we letting such things happen? Isn’t it time we all stood together as Namibians to fight the economic inequalities!
* HOW many more people must die because of the [alleged] incompetence of State nurses? They destroy people’s lives and don’t even care! It is so sad!
– Sad and Worried, MoHss
Running The Show
* MR President, this corruption is sickening! Hardly a day passes without a story on corruption. Soon you will have no moral society to rule over!
* I SUGGEST the next Namibian President visits the US President for advice on how to really fight corruption, in order for the poor of this country to benefit from resources that only some well placed do. We can see from far, thus we are trying to raise our voices of the voiceless through this platform. When are we going to be heard and be considered? Please can someone close to the Head of State read this and forward it to the relevant people.
– PPS Heitha
* WHY is President Pohamba campaigning for Swapo during the week when he is supposed to be doing Government work. Have your rallies over the weekends!
* MR Calle Schlettwein, I pray that you tested the Chinese X-ray equipment properly. We don’t want a repeat of the Chinese train saga.
* PRIME Minister, why are you sitting quietly on the ACE issue?
* MINISTRY [of Finance], how on earth can you make payments to the tune of N$120 million for x-ray machines not yet manufactured? Are you mad?
* IT is time now for our Government to do something to those corrupt, shameful members of our society in order for the ACC to be honoured and respected.
– Haavaawuke
Politics
* HE Pohamba and Hon Ekandjo`s offices should accept responsibility for their silence on the Vaalgras tribal mess.
– BAB, Karas!
* WHENEVER it is election year, the Swapo Government puts a moratorium on municipalities to halt the auction of properties of poor people. Is this how they buy votes, only to proceed again with sales after elections are over. But increasing old age pensions is perceived as buying votes. What a joke! Namibians are seen as stupid.
Politics In General
* CAN someone tell me why the so-called biggest democracy the USA has not signed the Rome Statute which created the ICC? USA fooled all the countries that have signed. This is a kangaroo court specifically for African leaders. Be warned! – The US issue aside, I do not think the ICC was set up to target African leaders. Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan wrote an excellent article, which was published in The Namibian the week before last, on the ICC. – News Editor
In And From The Regions
The size we want
* ONGWEDIVA Town Council, these rubbish bins are too small. Make provision for bigger ones like in Windhoek.
* PLEASE coastal municipalities, come up with a system that limits the number of shacks per yard. Can you imagine 10 shacks in one yard? And all these people use one toilet. This is unhygienic! This situation is out of control.
– Saint Fidel
* YO! I just browsed the website (www.karasrc.com) of the Karas Regional Council. Magnificent! However, a few minor updates are needed, e.g. Labour Act.
* WE are young Elimi residents and want to develop our place. But there are so-called leaders, who don’t want development. We need fresh blood in our leadership please.
* WHAT has happened to Okahao? The under-aged drink too much alcohol. The other thing is for how long it will take Hon Kapenambili to act on electricity for the the town and surroundings. Only the shebeens have lights.
– Nokko
* CAN the Karasburg Town Council please make sure all the shebeens comply with the law and what about the gambling machines which are operating in the shebeens? Are they legal?
* THERE was an opposition political party meeting in Kavango which was [allegedly] attended by Unita members. I believe NBC has footage of the event. Having said that, I want to ask why there was not much complaining?
* I AM very impressed by the initiative taken by the Namibian Police, with the intention to combat crime in our country. Police officers are busy conducting informative meetings, educating citizens on how to combat crime and indiscipline, specifically among school-going children. Warrant Officer Naikuti of the Omufitu sub-Police station in Engela Constituency, we salute you! Go ahead and make sure that no learner is seen in the Ohaingu location before or after school. We also would like to give you a mandate to deal with cuca shop owners who are selling liquor to children.
* THE Karasburg Town Council doesn’t complain about shebeens, but if you want to establish a food outlet they complain. That’s why there’s no development just crime and poverty.
* I AM concerned about Usakos. I haven’t seen any improvement for years and there are lots of unemployed people. I just want to know who is looking after the development of that town or is Usakos forgotten?
* ONGWEDIVA Town Council: please do something about the potholes in Valombola and Better Housing area. Or are you waiting for another rain season to repair your roads?
General
* WHAT happened to the B1 Butcher? Are the Police still investigating, or they are waiting for another life to be taken before they do something?
– L Gebs
* WHAT do members of the NDF do all day? There is no war. Surely they could assist our police force to combat crime?
* SOME months ago, N$3 million in cash disappeared from the Katutura Magistrate’s Court. Has somebody been prosecuted for this crime?
* MY Government, please use Ramatex to make a primary and secondary school in one. The kids can graduate from primary and just over the wall will be high school. Parents won’t have to struggle finding schools then. Don’t waste the place by making it a prison. Think about the future.
* IT will be greatly appreciated if The Namibian could be kind enough to publish in full the speech of President Obama in Ghana’s Parliament.
– We plan to run it during the course of the week. – News Editor
* THIS Jackson Five drama series were shown probably in 1992 or so. Please make a repeat. The two of you (TV channels) should make an agreement of who should show it.
* COULD the newspaper please publish motivating stories of individuals, students and professionals in various fields. It is motivating to read about someone`s achievements especiallyfor us students!
– Kawawa
– Fully agree! We try and do it when we come across stories of this nature. But if you know of some, please do let us know. – News Editor
* I AGREE with the SMS on July 7. I was almost robbed by four guys at Hida’s Centre in Klein Windhoek last month. They were insisting on pressing some button on the machine. Security was nowhere to be found. Beware.
– TK
* HMMMMMM, it is amazing how greedy we can be. Some big companies have been making huge profits for years, giving their employees fat cheques, yet they are the first to ask for royalty breaks at the expense of the poor. The poor continue to be poorer. Why can’t the public services employees rather be exempted from tax until the recession period normalises?

* THANK you Bank Windhoek for informing us about FIA in the Money Matters articles. You are always ahead of the other banks. Keep it up Bank Windhoek!
* WELL done The Namibian team on exposing the Luderitz Single Quarters. Enough is just enough. Something needs to be done, because those responsible are tarnishing the name of our government especially in the South.
* THE House of Chiefs and the Council of Churches in Namibia ... “They should leave politics to politicians for a change and spearhead issues about their core mandate.” Quoted from the New Era of Friday, July 10, page 6. If someone wrote that during the struggle against colonialism, he would have been called a puppet, reactionary, running dog, etc. Why can’t some people just leave the churches alone, they are doing a good job.
* DEAR Editor, can the Rambler please keep on rambling every week, week after week and inspire me with the so true humour! Lite Rite
* THE Rambler in Friday’s edition is just plain nutz (hilarious). You crack me up dude! Oh, and Henning Melber wrote a brutally honest yet brilliant article ‘Namibia on Sale’. All of us should read and seriously think about the issues raised in it. Mr Melber would be Minister of Finance if I was president. The way our Government continues to support evil tyrants worldwide is deeply, sadly, shockingly disappointing.
* BRAVO Dudley on your cartoon of (President Hifikepunye) Pohamba. What happened to our Pohamba of zero tolerance to corruption. The Ministry of Finance throws away millions but the minister and her PS are left to go scot free?
* THE Namibian’s editorials of the past few weeks have been spot on and incisive. Keep snapping at the heels of the struggle aristocracy.
* PLEASE NBC, Sunday is a day of rest. Can’t we let the politicians also rest on Sunday. We see them the whole week. Let us enjoy some TV programmes over weekends. Please.
* THANK you to the Namibian Police and the City Police for job well done when they facilitated the peaceful RDP road show. Job well done! Keep on!
– Mr Kanelombe
* NBC news should always crosscheck the news bulletin to make sure it is factually correct. President Obama’s visit to Ghana is not the first to Africa. He was in Egypt earlier this year. Maybe the first to sub-Saharan Africa.
– Sanni
* THOSE who are stealing from the Government are those supposed to protect it. I feel ashamed and annoyed when they go unpunished. How will those that are not for the Government be controlled then? I am ashamed of you.
– Ihamukuta, Windhoek
City Fathers Please ...
* CITY of Windhoek, fill up all the job vacancies so that the overtime work should stop. We want our money to fight joblessness.
* PLEASE publish the salaries of the staff and town councillors of City of Windhoek. If British Airways can work for the same salaries and for one month without pay so can they. They do not behave in the interests of the people.
* TO the Windhoek Municipality, how can you justify making our lives more expensive so that you can live cheaper? We all have expenses to meet but do not have fancy allowances to cover them. Your allowances are far more than our salaries. Your salaries and allowances should be paid last from the budget, not as first priorities. It is our money being used, so how come we do not see the benefits? Perhaps I can get one of your jobs?
* THE City of Windhoek is bloated. With all the outsourcing, we don’t need a third of overpaid officials. I support the NUNW. It is time to cut this obese monster to size.
* CITY of Windhoek! What u are doing with this auctions is plain exploitation!
Education
* MY son is five years old and attends one private kindergarten in town. He reported that they are being smacked with shoes and their teacher told them that she has got two boyfriends? How can this be constructive for our children. Please teacher you are a role model!
* LAST week we attended a life skills workshop in Windhoek. We were told to give condoms to primary kids. When was this law passed by Cabinet? Parents please get involved.
– Shocked teacher
* WILL it help to pretend things are going well at Coastal High School? Does this school have support from the regional office? Is there a school board at this school? Is the school board aware of what is taking place at this school? Are we going to write the same history paper as the other schools at the end of the year? I’m worried. The help being given once or twice a week by a teacher of another school is not enough and effective. It is unfair. Are we not entitled to have a qualified history teacher? Somebody please give answers before it is very late.
Service Please
Who will be the best?
* LET’S have a best service station award please!
* OSHIKANGO Customs and Excise please check your service. You’re too slow.
* I FEEL that Home Affairs seriously needs to recruit staff. Home Affairs in the Northern Industrial Area has very poor service.
* PLEASE Okuryangava Service Station, the customer toilet is dirty. No electricity and the door doesn’t close. Why are customers paying one dollar?
– Customers
* CAN MTC please stop this free promotion! We want to call for important reasons and can’t even get through. And what’s the use of free calls if the network is always jammed?
* TO be honest, I don’t care about the free calls between 22h00 and 06h00. I don’t bother to register. My problem is that I can’t make any call from 22h00. My friend was in hospital and all 6/7 of us couldn’t make a call to our loved one. Great ...
* STANDARD Bank in Oshakati and Ongwediva must improve their services please because each and every month end their ATMs used to be out of order. I don’t know why? Do you know that you will lose customers because of that?
- IRK, Ondangwa.
Health Matters
* THE service at Robert Mugabe clinic is so poor and unprofessional and it is filled with inconsiderate staff. As a working mother and a student, I took a sick baby for treatment and was at the clinic exactly at 15h00. Reaching there, the lady where we are supposed to pay the clinic fees insisted that they were full and were seeing no more patients and that we had to take the baby to Katutura Clinic. Imagine how far and long it would take to again jump in a taxi to get to Katutura, especially if you live in town, within 10 minutes walking distance of the Mugabe clinic. But the clinic was empty and two nurses were seated on the patients waiting chairs, chatting to each other. There were only four patients waiting. Aren’t they supposed to close at 17h00. Seriously, the Minister of Health must do something to improve on the services at public clinics, especially Mugabe.
n MY mother is in Windhoek Central Hospital. She got beetroot and porridge for lunch. Is that how it should be?
Lost And Found
* MY dog went missing in Olympia. It responds to the name Lucky and is brown in colour. If you find it, please call 081-149-1486.
* SELIMA Ndatitangi Neshuku, contact 081-273-4701 in connection with your documents found!
* SEM N Kateta is looking for his lost ID, passport and Unam student card, contact: 081-206-8911.
– Sem Kateta, Windhoek
Sporting
* PLEASE NFA and NSSC, you must do something regarding women’s soccer. We are here in the North waiting for the women’s soccer trials for under-20, but you tend to select from Windhoek, Okahandja and Keetmanshoop while some of us are more expert than them! Please be fair and treat us equal, we are all Namibians!
Worried soccer player
* LET me thank the sport office of Ohangwena Region. The region was dormant, but brother you are producing wonderful athletes. You are struggling hard for quality tournaments in your region. Truly your region has zero equipment, but thank you Mr Teofelus Moses. If the NSC leaves you without an award this year they should explain to the nation. Keep it up brother.
