Food For Thought
* WHY is that the race issue is again raising its head in Namibia? Previously it was racist SA government now new racial polemicists have appeared in the guise of Peter Iilonga, aka Ekanda, and Amukwiyu. Stop discrimination.
– Kamati
* EVERY nation erects monuments to celebrate its heroes and heroines or for the purpose of highlighting the core values which inspire it. While erecting monuments is important, another important monument which every Namibian will be proud of is a shelter. How about a joint venture between private and public entities to ensure that in two years’ time, no Namibian will be living in a shack or under a bridge? I throw this challenge to mining companies extracting our minerals; you could be remembered for having contributed in building a lasting monument which is Namibia free from homelessness.
* NAMIBIANS we must stop complaining and take responsibility for our own lives. We are more powerful than we realise. If Government don’t perform vote them out. As easy as that. Think of your children. Government works for us not the other way around.
* I WONDER if the SADC heads of state will carry masks when they are at Oranjemund, as the public will be attending and swine flu cases are increasing by the day.
Politics
SPYL vuvuzelas
* SPYL biggest ‘vuvuzelas’. Too much noise and no brains.
* WHAT will happen to those comrades who died in or as a result of the hellholes of Lubango? Are they also going to be compensated? Me Ruusa Maruru must tell us.
* HON Alpheus !Naruseb, you are a man of principle and integrity. You have demonstrated absolute maturity and provided leadership during recent well-orchestrated conspiracy (Ongombo West), [allegedly) planned by your close colleagues using innocent youth members to dirty your reputation and clean political career for reasons known to them. We Namibians know what transpired and we know that yours is an extension of President’s arm, entrusted with mandate/responsibility of administering the laws regulating resettlement. You have executed your mandate without fear or favour after fair consultation with trespassers. If some of your colleagues do things for favours we are not expecting that from a person of your calibre. Nobody is above the law. I am also happy that you did not use inappropriate channels to respond (media). Once again keep it up comrade!
* I DO not see any wrong doing regarding the position Government took through joint action by Hon Ministers of Lands & Resettlement and Safety & Security in the Ongombo East and West saga. The Minister of Lands explained to the invaders who in fact refused to vacate the State land hence the need and application of laws, unless [Clinton] Swartbooi is having hidden agendas. Does he want Ministers not to implement their mandate derived from appointing authority (President)? And or does he want to make the country ungovernable by making irresponsible and irrelevant statements contrary to the laws of the Republic and principles of SPYL? Comrade Ngurare please call your appointee to order, we respect our elected leaders.
* WHITE farmers are being murdered day by day in this country. Now we have Hon Peter Iilonga attacking the whites. Is that also not a contributing factor to the anti-white motivated crime? No wonder the ICC is there and one of his good days will come. Things will get out of hand.
– Hilma
* NAMIBIAN politicians are just cheating the nation. Why don’t you make poverty, hunger, crime, unemployment a campaign like an election campaign?
* HAS the Swapo government responded to Germany`s request seeking clarity regarding Mr S. Nujoma’s insane threats to put bullets through the heads of German-speaking citizens?
* SOME people simply do not like the truth. The so-called SWAPO YL in Rosh Pinah take issue with Hon Boois about tribalism. Look who’s talking. Selma Shigweda. What happened to our own youth? Selma needs to talk about Councillor Paulus Efraim, Nikanor or Nampala. Boois speaks about job opportunities for the neglected real southerners but is called a tribalist. Selma complains about money spent on a girl from this region. Note we try desperately to see if we can get the message to our youth that they can also lead like the Selmas. Selma have you seen the names of the latest intake at the southern campus of NIMT. Dare to comment?
* WHY are supporters of a certain political party calling others names? The answer is simply this is done mostly to the breakaway group like the Shipanga breakaway group. These ideas are advocated and engineered by Swapo cadres. This behaviour is not new in Swapo as any breakaway deserves to be called a name even HH knows this.

* WHAT are the ECN rules about flags on trees on main road as there are Swapo flags on basically every tree by the roadside at towns and villages between Ondangwa and Ohangwena put up by a well-known failed businessman.
To The President
* HAPPY birthday President Pohamba.
* HAPPY birthday Mr President. I wish you all the joy you deserve. Long life.
– Bro Petrus Moses CMM
* HAPPY birthday our President, to lead us in peace and everlasting harmony.
– Alumbungu Titus
* HAPPY birthday his Excellency kuku President. May God bless you, give you strength and many more years ahead to lead our lovely nation into positive, visible and constructive directions.
– Muleka family
* A DAY later, still a great leader. Happy Birthday President Pohamba. May God grant you all the wisdom and insight so you continue to be the great leader you are today, also tomorrow and forever. Also sharing the day with His Excellency, happy birthday our son Jeffrey Taleni Josti. May you follow the footsteps of our great leader.
* MANY year to come your Excellency. But I’m confused because I don’t know if you are our real president, your power has [allegedly] been taken by some people (Nujoma’s SPYL and individuals). Every day you are preaching to be tolerant with one another, but some of your ministers are not respecting what you are saying, I’m referring to what Peter Iilonga said last week attacking the whites, but you haven’t taken any action against him. Please improve ...
– K Hilma
* HAPPY birthday tate Hifikepunye Pohamba, many more years to come, but I want to tell you something to be elected as a president is to act on your own, not to wait for someone to act on your behalf. Please be like other leaders. We elected you to lead us, if you are not accountable give the chance to others who can act and know how to take decisions.
* MAY I wish our President Lukas Hifikepunye Pohamba a happy birthday indeed. Let me also tell him to his face that he has shown a weakness in not rooting out corruption as he pledged in 2004. Today more than 253 million of our money is lost while high-profile culprits are free ... These are my honest opinions and many citizens feel betrayed by you and your predecessor Sam Nujoma.
– Traditional leader from the South
* PLEASE dear Editor do publish this SMS. Why is the President not celebrating his birthday with his fellow citizens, people who elected him to power? Is it not supposed to be a national event?
General
* THANK you for still telling it like it is – The Namibian team. That’s the message one gets when you send an SMS to Have Your Say. An SMS costs N$1, but when you send an SMS you are charged N$5. The Namibian please be honest to your newspaper readers, we are using the SMS page as a platform to raise our concerns, but you have continued to fool us that the cost is only a dollar, while ripping us on our credit. Tell it as it is by informing the readers on a front page of your publication what the real cost of a SMS is. Robbing your readers and SMS contributors is an act of dishonesty and corruption. Gwen we want your response ASAP and please forward my text to the Media Ombudsman to investigate.
– Gwangendjo
– Appreciate your concern. It’s one dollar per 160 characters, and has been so from the outset. I think we are at fault in not publishing this basic information on a daily basis. We used to publish it every day, but eventually took it out to make way for more SMSes, assuming –wrongly, obviously! – that people would remain aware of the basic SMS criteria. For the record, The Namibian does not make a single cent from the SMSes published on this page. We negotiated the lowest price we could to try and make this platform as accessible as possible to as many people as possible. – News Editor
