Food For Thought
* ROBERT T Kiyosaki said that “If you want to be rich don’t go to school”. This seems to be true. Because a Grade 10 holder who is a cleaner in Bank of Namibia earns a lot more money than a BETD graduate. In fact, most of the lower ranking officials in State-owned enterprises are earning more than those labelled as professionals. Why? We are discouraging those who want to pursue their studies in certain professions.
* NAMIBIA has become a crime hotspot. We cannot say that there is stability and peace given the high crime rate. Citizens are no longer safe in their homes. Thugs rob people almost daily. The chief of Police must seriously attend to crime problem in Namibia. Kapofi and Ndeitunga are rushing to deal with cattle theft as usual because they own farms. The same rush must apply to urban centres where ordinary citizens are. We need strong action from President Pohamba on crime.
Politics
* IN RESPONSE to the SMS asking ‘What is Swapo Youth League involvement in Teko trio’ or that ‘SPYL was jumping with joy’. The answer is that SPYL has zero involvement with Teko trio. Whoever was seen ‘jumping with joy’ was doing so in his/her private capacity.
– Jessy Nombanza, Acting Administrator of SPYL Headquarters
* UNION leaders stop telling us who to vote for. Gone are the days you told us to vote for samzilla and his future fairyland of non-existence. Most of us from the South are open-minded and won’t be tricked again.
* PAULUS Kapia is back and he means business. If the Electoral College gets him through the deal is done. If not it’s fine, no hard feelings. Swapo is a well-structured political party. If there is another political party with the same structure point it out. That is why failure is less and success much always. Criticism in The Namibian newspaper is from the opposition, so let Swapo Party do what suits them, we don’t need your advice. Kapia’s way to Parliament can only be decided by his party.
– Evari
* MATTERS getting worse. The Avid social security case not concluded, yet Kapia is on his way to Parliament again. Tekla out on bail and SPYL celebrates it. Now the question is what will happen in the future. Namibian youth consider the facts when you go to vote.
* TATEKULU Pohamba! We want to see your action against corruption. When are you going to prove yourself? Misuse of public money is the order of the day, what are you doing?
– Elias
I REALLY want to congratulate cde Tuliameni Kalomoh for his statements in the Windhoek Observer last week against tribalism. Cde Kalomoh it is true that not all Kwanyama speakers are RDP supporters, so I hope they will include you on the party list so that you will be eligible for Parliament, you have integrity and are fearless, I salute you.
– Seblon
* TO ALL political parties and all Namibians, please stop calling bad words to one another, especially ruling party calling others ‘omilameno’. Let me tell you there is no omilameno party or person, what it is about is the positions held by Swapo members for a long time and they don’t want to give chances to others because of the good salary and living of those positions. We are all Namibians. Do understand!
* WE ARE ready to accommodate all former members of RP in CoD, the only party that stands for inclusivity. Viva CoD.
* LOOK! How come on earth you call lazy students ‘struggle kids’, struggle with what? If those kids were cars they are all 80s models, which is the same model with us who were born here in Namibia, not in exile. The question is what is the difference? Call a spade a spade and a snake a snake!
Election Issues
* NAMPOL Inspector General’s advice against door-to-door campaigning is politically motivated since it ignores flags hoisted on houses and no-go areas. It just shows how Namibians are politically immature. Nampol must instead encourage political tolerance as an election security strategy to curb political intimidations and violence.
– Kafute ka Negaga
* A STATE-FUNDED newspaper argued in its Friday editorial, “There is no law that prohibits political parties from conducting house-to-house (hh) campaigns, in the same way the law does not stop priests from moving house-to-house to offer prayers or traders who are selling goods... Homeowners have their ‘laws’ about what and what not to permit in their premises.” Can my money – I pay tax to fund that newspaper – be spent on promoting tolerance, the rule of law and peace rather than instigating no-go houses and lawlessness? Please, don’t speak for me because my house has an open-door policy. Welcome everyone, including the so-called strangers!
– A homeowner, Omuntele Constituency, Oshikoto Region
* WE really need to educate our politicians to know where to campaign. Now they are campaigning everywhere. Mr Kashuupulwa, as a governor, was called by the ECN to encourage people to vote but instead he opted to campaign by saying “vote Swapo”, which is wrong. He was supposed to address people in the capacity of the nation not for Swapo. Is that not selfish? He stopped opposition parties to campaign, now he is campaigning. Is that fair?
– Xwanda
* THESE leaders of ours will never understand when you tell them that people are living with poverty in Babylon because neither they nor their children have experienced it.
– Ndinelao
* AN SMS by Petrina Angala insinuated that it is not reasonable for opposition political parties to “say that if we vote for them they will provide free education and free health”. Firstly, hold them responsible for their promises after voting for them. Secondly, read the Namibian Constitution, Articles 20 and 95. Thirdly, if the “resources are not enough”, then, why has Government not gone bankrupt after having lost N$967 million through ODC, Avid, Teko, a bogus arms deal, NWR, Katutura Magistrate and Onandjokwe?
* TO THE Swapo comrades in the Oshana Region. Why are we not following democratic principles? At the regional conference we elected cde Erastus Kapolo to the Electoral College but afterwards you went to replace him with cde Angelina Angula behind closed doors. What is that? If the person was out-voted she should go with the decision of the people. Please put cde Kapolo’s name back on the list as a candidate for the National Assembly. We did not elect that lady nor did we talk about gender equality, as it has become your reason.
– Concerned member
* KEEP in mind we, as civilians, are the ones who elected you to govern the nation, now you just promise and have not implemented for 20 years. So we are tired to feed just one party while the nation is starving badly. Swapo MPs must move so others can take over. The good positions you have held for 20 years are more to feed one group which is careless with the Namibian nation. We also want to send our families to study abroad. Time for change is now.

* ALL thumbs up for The Namibian for still telling it like it is! But guys, it takes so long (up to 9 am) to update your fans online. I don’t know if it’s only in Unam Library but that’s the case.
– Vanfillex
– Thanks. We’ll check on that. – News Editor
* SELMA Shipanga, your article in The Namibian Weekender page 16 of Friday, August 21 2009, is commendable. You are very straight, keep reporting like it is!!
* A HUGE thank you to the Brazilian Embassy for an exquisite dance performance on Wednesday evening. It was an honour to see such a world-class performance in Windhoek. Many thanks.
– Genie Albrecht
* THANKS very much Mr Isak Hamunyela for your good and technical way presenting to us on how to learn science. You gave us all the solutions without reading in any science book. You are the best presenter we need!
– Unam students
In And From The Regions
* I DO not understand why dirty towns like Ondangwa increase their municipal tariffs if the town is dirty, no street lights, no street names. When it comes to the roads they are more like dump holes, go to Ondangwa NamPost side and confirm. CEO and your team if you are not up to the challenge quit, we need competent leaders!
* IS THE mayor of Ondangwa feeling proud when he is driving in the streets where the roads are full of holes? Especially the road to the Police station.
– Cde Andimba
* STILL now we don’t enjoy the fruits of Namibian independence in Okalongo constituency. Hon Hakaye please do something. We need electricity at Oneeya School. Until when are you going to ignore people who brought you to power? Iipeke cuca shops are also in darkness and business is hindered! We can’t take it any longer.
– Twaloloka
RURAL water supply offices (Outapi), your service is very slow, you have been telling us to wait since last year May until now. We want our own running taps at our houses. Please officials do something.
OSHAKATI town council give us electricity please.

Health
* MOHSS, provide more bursaries to the nation to study further to become doctors and specialists please. District hospitals are starving for their help, your foreign doctors are not rendering us holistic care. There are lots of young new recruit nurses who wants to study further but no money.
– Concerned individual
* PLEASE Minister of Health Dr Richard Kamwi, come and visit Grootfontein hospital. It’s really dirty. What are your workers doing. I was very disappointed because I was just a visitor in Grootfontein for two weeks and I almost vomited when I entered the labour ward. How can a newborn be welcomed in such a dirty place? Please let there be a change!
* KATUTURA hospital needs better management. Patients are ill-treated by [some] unfriendly personnel causing them more stress.
