SMS Of Tuesday 18 August 2009

* NAMIBIA, we would be doing the best by trying to find out who needs what and if possible extend a hand rather than trying to find out who affiliates to which political party and hate or fire them. Namibia still awaits our concerted efforts to alleviate poverty and cause socio-economic gains for all, through hard work, dedication, commitment and most of all unity towards progress and development of human resources. Unite against socio-economic evils.

Food For Thought
* I THINK the step that Dr Tjiriange took to acknowledge that atrocities committed by Swapo in the dungeons of Lubango is a bold one. He’s the second after the late (may his soul rest in peace) Moses Garoëb. That’s what the nation wants to hear. When is Former President Sam Nujoma coming out in the open and tell us what happened?
 – Ongwediva

* UAZUVAU Kaumbi, when are you going to pay back our (taxpayers’) money, which was used for ‘Where Others Wavered’? – N$65 million. How many clinics and schools could’ve been built with that money?
– Mekupi

Politics
* DOOR-TO-DOOR campaigning is a matter between the house owner and campaigner. It is not true that ordinary people are unhappy. Politicians are seeing the bread falling out of their mouths and have no choice than creating these lies. Democracy is good. Isn’t it?
– Andreas

* GOVERNOR of Oshana, I salute you for your visionary leadership. You saved many lives by reprimanding people not to enter door-to-door campaigns. Many people could be killed and maimed through such unwise action.

* IT’S better late than never. The SPYL is waking up now, these are but some of the concerns we’ve been telling the nation. Now you start to understand, right? But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
– Mekupi

* THE Governor of the Hardap Region Mrs Katrina Hanse-Himarwa is now crying about not being elected to the Swapo Convention, forgetting her recent arrest by the ACC and many other cases reported in the media. The Governor should not underestimate her comrades’ intelligence. That is how democracy works Hon Governor. Someone should teach the Governor what democracy is all about. What goes around comes around.

Bouquets And Brickbats
* THANK you NBC TV sports desk. It’s becoming interesting nowadays with CNN inserts and everything. Keep it up guys. I was always wondering how much it cost to show CNN inserts because not all of us have DSTV.
 – Xaus Wbay

* NBC thanks for the programme ‘The Week That Was’ – it’s educative.
– Mwanyekange

* IT’S true that the newsreaders are chatting to each other while reading news. Very unprofessional! Matthew, please refresh etiquette and professionalism.

* THE repeated broadcasting of the Uitkomst farm is becoming really boring. Please stop it.

Service Please
* I BOUGHT myself a brand new 3G instant broadband device for a hefty sum of N$850 the other day hoping that it would increase the efficiency of my business through the use of the Internet. To my immense disappointment this device has turned my business life into a total nightmare. It refuses to function or fails to connect all the time. By the way I live at Usakos.
– Johannes /Gawiseb

* NATIS explain! Why aren’t your systems linked nationally, why can’t I pay re-registration fees in Ongwediva for a car that is Windhoek registered? All the hassle is unnecessary. You’re taking us back in history. Use technology, please!

* ETV channel is gone from the decoders sold in Windhoek. If SABC 1,2 and 3 are also gone from these networks what are we going to do with all these decoders? Who will refund us? Consumer lobby where are you?

* STANDARD Bank, please it’s high time to introduce cellphone banking. We are tired of waiting.

Education
* I WANT to know what happened for principal posts at Etambo Combined School and Ehangano Primary School. Why was an appointment not made? While other schools in Oshana did!

* SOME school principals are autocratic, rude and don’t stimulate team spirit among staff members. They are more into ordering, judging, threatening and writing warnings than assisting, encouraging, motivating and in the process being role models, inspiring and exemplary. Sound leadership qualities make a good leader. A person who loves to see others doing well and guides them towards achieving more. Not who would make sure others are dealt with, even for a minor shortcoming and enjoy it when others suffer or hurt. Studies in leadership skills are offered to highest degree possible that anyone can obtain, however, application thereof can either disastrously hamper or effectively improve productivity and efficiency. School managers should not be dictators as it is at some clusters in Ohangwena circuit. Some of them find it just fine not to inform their staff when they’re away from school grounds.

* AS A literacy promoter why are we not entitled to a bonus? In your bonus month if you take your bonus the following month you won’t be paid your salary. Ministry of Education to explain.
– Katima Simbilingani

In And From The Regions
* OKAHAO town council must not use intimidation as an excuse for development. Pay the affected farmers what is due them, and don’t try to profit at their expense. There’s so much land why take already occupied land? Sounds like Auasblick in Windhoek. N$7 000 is a joke!

* KUNENE Region Police the State vehicle is not your own vehicle. If you give your complaint, which is far from Sesfontein, especially at Bakondja village and its surrounding area, the Police refuse to go and attend. I used to see some Police officers wearing plain clothes hiking when they are going to do investigations at Bakondja and Khowarib, while the State vehicle is parked at shebeens. Don’t drink and drive, but the Sesfontein police car driver is doing it. We don’t know who the station driver is because we just used to see one person in that car, and we understand that he is the station commander. If he is the station driver where is the station commander and vice versa. ACC intervene please!
– Aggrieved Bakondja Resident

Running The Show
* CAN the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs give me an answer when they allow the ex-SWATF and Koevoet to register in Namibia? We need also the free registrations to be able to get our money! The Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs must give the N$36 000 from South Africa’s government to pay the ex-SWATF and Koevoet. Please reply Minster or PS. We need the answers urgently!

* I WONDER if affirmative action exists. City Police why is that only one ethnic group is given ranks while others are ignored?

* THE City of Windhoek Council must be fired. How can they allow people to be given small erven or sell small erven to people? Most of the locations in Windhoek resemble a refugee camp. No air, sunlight, parking space, washing line space etc. What are they going to do with the rest of the land as we are only two million, not in Windhoek but in the whole Namibia. An example of such places is Build Together houses in Goreangab. Or does Build Together mean “squeeze together” to them?

* THE public service must revisit its salary structures. The salaries and benefits of management are the same in the public service while the salaries of deputy directors differ from ministry to ministry e.g. school inspectors are next after deputy directors in education but earn quite more than a Lieutenant Colonel of NDF and a Chief Inspector in NamPol. Why the difference? Is it because of qualifications or responsibility?

* MR USIKU how is affirmative action implemented at Home Affairs that one tribe is in the majority? Is that affirmative action or tribalism?

Justice For All?
* ALL equal but some more equal. Labourer slapped with N$15 000 fine, his net salary per year. Ministers use GRN cars to drop and pick their children from school. Who is corrupt?

General
* I WANT to hear from Mr Phil ya Nangoloh if he is aware of pregnant women who are suffering and sleeping under trees who were chased away from the hospitals. Can Mr ya Nangoloh fight for those vulnerable women as it is part of his work. Let him inform us.

* OUR leaders are concerned about shebeens mushrooming in the city and towns. How many shebeens are there at resettlement farms of GRN. Shebeens at Ongombo West, what’s that?

* IF IT’S end of the year where do Damara/Nama people go for the festive season? People from Ovamboland and Caprivi easily go back to their homelands. GRN look into the issue of //Naosan /Aes. The issue of ancestral land is a real headache.
– AKH

* THE recently held workshop by NPC at Otjiwarongo was a disaster. Organisers intended to attract ‘high profile’ participants, but it did not happen as even those who attended left. The workshop sought to fill in a questionnaire from the UN, but those who attended may not be best placed to give factually correct answers, but still the workshop filled in. In fact no workshop was needed, NPC simply needed to forward it to stakeholders, rather than having clueless people giving their opinion or just guessing. We could have also saved on S&T given to everybody!

* WHEN a person knows he/she is unemployed, knowing he/she is already struggling ... How do you, in your right mind, still go and have sex and get (more) babies? Why? You are guilty of child abuse!

* LAST week people collected rubbish in black bags in Uhland Street. But Sunday I collected a bag of old broken glass. Are these workers supervised?

* ARE building contractors allowed to start operating heavy machinery at 07h00 on a Sunday? What do regulations in Windhoek say? We need at least one day of peace.
