SMSes for Thursday 27 Nov 08

* THANK you, Andimba [Toivo ya Toivo], for coming out so clear on the issue of political tolerance. You are a true leader.

* THANK you Reverend Strydom, Hon Ya Toivo and others who spoke out against the evil of political violence and intolerance. You are real heroes. Namibia needs divine intervention to keep our precious peace.

Food For Thought

* I AM a Swapo member but what we are doing is not right. I think our Hon President Hifikepunye Pohamba must stand up as the head of this country and stop my fellow Swapo supporters. Swapo we must remember that we have rallies all over the country but we are never disturbed. I think RDP is a threat that is why we are behaving so awful. People if you are saying RDP is in Ohangwena Region think twice and remember that our president is from the same region.

Citizen Advice

* IT’S bonus time again, I would like to request my fellow workers to rather shop with their debit or credit cards instead of carrying a lot of cash and ending up being robbed by those thugs! Please be on alert at ATM machines. If you spot a suspicious person rather move somewhere else. Don’t spend all your cash, please save some. Happy festive season Namibia!

Rest in Peace

* MAY the soul of kuku Helvi Mpingana Kondombolo rest in eternal peace. Kuku gwakondo you bore us a warrior/revolutionary/icon, a man who carried a heavy responsibility of leading our revolution. It is because of you kuku that we are who and what we are [Namibia] today.

– Hiwilepo’s family

* THE grandmother of the nation has passed away in Ongwediva Medi- Park. Let all peace-loving Namibians be consoled.

* I WOULD like to send my heartfelt condolences to the Founding Father Comrade Sam Nujoma at the passing away of his mother, kuku Helvi Gwakondombolo. May the Lord console you and give you and your family the strength during this difficult moment. Believe in Him and He’ll ease your pain.

Ndaambe

Politics

* A SPADE is a spade; a crime is a crime. The truth is always the truth. And what the Swapo supporters did to RDP is wrong whether they accept it or not.

– Peace Watchdog

* THEY silently condoned [President Robert] Mugabe’s criminal behaviour, so don’t ever expect the Father of the Nation or tate [Hifikepunye] Pohamba to call to account for Swapo’s criminal elements!

* THE Swapo members at Outapi did what their leaders told them to do and the Police know it. Why are the Police not arresting them? They are scared of losing their jobs. Another Zimbabwe.

* WE Namibians, through our political intolerance and immaturity, are again confirming to the world why they have no reason to take us or our “leaders” seriously. Just like the rest of Africa. Another five years on this road, and we are finished.

* I HAVE given up. It does not look like those Swapo people care about anybody else but themselves! Not even education will stop them from attacking others. Shame.

* IT is true Namibia is run like a village these days. And how was it possible that the Police did not foresee the potential violence coming in a small place like Outapi? These behaviours are uncultured and lacking any credibility in a democratic country. I hope the President will say something in this regard.

* I’M an RDP member, and I’m tired of being disturbed by certain people every time we have a gathering. I feel that my life is in danger every time I attend a RDP rally. If NamPol or the relevant authorities cannot guarantee our safety, they must tell us so that we can do it ourselves.

Shiwana

* I AM very shocked by what Mr Nahas Angula has to say about the unruly behaviour of Swapo supporters at Outapi. I was expecting that he would address or respond as the PM of this nation. Take off the Swapo jacket when dealing with constitutional issues.

* REACTION to Prime Minister. The way Prime Minister Nahas Angula reacted to political violence in Outapi is worrying. He either did not do his homework or he is only pleasing the Swapo Party leadership. How many times and at how many venues did Swapo Party disrupt RDP rallies? Telling the nation that RDP went to Outapi to provoke is very misleading. The issue of RDP having no supporters in Outapi is also misleading.

* NAHAS Angula seems to be more removed from reality than people think. How can he think that RDP should hold public meeting in their members’ yards. Is the premier in denial?

* HONOURABLE Angula’s statement on NBC TV on Tuesday evening about the Outapi incident was contradictory and nauseating at best. It really must have come from his handler.

Bouquets And Brickbats

* WHY does the weather report at NBC differ totally from One Africa? Who goes to which meteorological office? NBC we pay for our licence but the products we get are not worth paying for. One Africa so far you are on top.

– F Nakaambo

* THANK you Namibian Police for speaking up and taking measures against political violence. We should be proud of peace in our country, let’s keep it this way.

* LIVING it up. A big thumbs up for the Namibian artists for making us proud with their world-class music videos. We are noticing! Qnja your music video rocks!

– Xuro Dax-Ongwediva/RHB

* CAN the Ministry of Home Affairs stop charging for their mistakes when issuing national document such as IDs, passports and birth certificates. Now we pay for the original document and the duplicate again! Please improve your accuracy and service!

Health Matters

* I’M a concerned health care worker from the far northern regions. We’ve got at times critically ill patients, e.g. RTA (road traffic accident) victims referred to the capital for specialised services. The emergency journey takes about seven to eight hours by road because the ambulances are not the only road users. Sometimes upon arrival at Windhoek’s Katutura Hospital Casualty, either the condition of the patient worsens with classified poor prognosis or dies during the journey. My point for creating this picture is that we’ve got two ministries which can assist each other namely: MoHSS and MoD. The concerned relevant regional hospital transports the critically ill patients to the nearest military airfield, e.g. Rundu gets patients from Katima Mulilo (525 km) and takes them to Grootfontein military airfield for airlifting to Windhoek. Journey shortened, prognosis of accident victims’ survival increased, the military pilots get more flying hours in return. With the population of two million, only a handful can afford Med-Rescue flights while we have our military planes stationary or idle. This appeal is to the road-users, it’s almost the dawn of the festive season and the motorists should be vigilant at all times.

– Concerned HCW.

* YES some of us nurses are rude, but why? Even the sweetest are also becoming rude. We staff nurses we are overloaded with work. We are burning out due to stress. We are the donkeys in every corner of our clinics. Yet we are underpaid. Stress and the workload is the cause, otherwise we are nice.

General

* HOW low can we go! A man urinating on the side of the road in full view of motorists. This happened this morning in Hochland Road. Is such an act not punishable by law? Very often these men do not even make an effort to move out of view.

* WE are sick and tired of residents dumping their waste in front of our house. Imagine dumping your whole rubbish drum in front of one’s house. The pavement in front of our house looks disgusting. Why can’t the Municipality place those orange waste drums somewhere near our house since that appears to be the suitable dumping site? It’s disgusting mostly during rainy season.

Concerned Resident, Alina, Freedomland

* NDF are you waiting until there is a massive accident? When are you providing soldiers with proper transport? Did you see the accident when your overloaded truck overturned while transporting out sleeping members?

Concerned Soldiers, Luiperdsvallei

* I AM urging Natis – the full names of a driver must appear on a driving licence. No abbreviations.

Education

* THE driver who transported JSC markers for English from Windhoek to Omusati in a 65-seater GRN bus on November 19 must be called to order! We stopped at Otjiwarongo at around 11h00, only to see him driving off five minutes after coming out of Spar to buy what to eat. About 12 teachers were left stranded! Only to be picked up by minibuses for Ohangwena and Oshikoto education regions. If somebody who knows how to read sees this SMS please tell him that was irresponsible!

* THE Ministry of Education must start on a serious renovation of teachers’ accommodation especially at Mwaala High School, Tsandi. The walls are falling apart. The ministry must send out people to start inspecting this. I’m also inviting the NBC to come show the nation what type of accommodation these teachers are in.

* NAMCOL give us our practicals in the way you used to give us our assignments. Not all of us get the time to attend classes as we are working at temporary jobs. Now you are disqualifying our subjects, wasting our money. Can the Ministry of Education check this.

– Frieda, Windhoek

* I WANT the principal of Omuulukila Combined School in Omusati Region to let us know when they are going to start with the construction of the school hall, because it has been almost eight years now since our parents paid for it. But there is still no hall at that school!

* ONGWEDIVA College, your selection process is unacceptable. Taking who you want without even considering the points and experience of those ones you leave out. The test was very simple and I don’t think there is someone who failed it.

* FINANCE Office Ohangwena education region, please deliver quality service. How did you calculate this overpayment? Now we suffer with repayments because of someone’s mistakes.

In And From the Regions

* KONGOLA Police Station: This station is falling apart. Please line ministry take responsibility.

– Ronny wa Sililo

* THE Karas and Hardap regions are the largest and richest but still you’ll find the poorest in both regions why? Look at the political set-up – two or three ministers coming from these regions in nearly 20 years. Look at the MPs who are representing this region. They come from other regions. How do we expect any wonders to happen? We concentrate too much on Katrina’s crumbs and tend to forget the big wasters on the gravy train. The answer: proportional representation.

Service Please

* MESSAGE to shop assistants whose first approach is ‘sê maar’, is ‘I beg your pardon?’. It has them totally stunned, looking for the right words. ‘Sê maar’ is gross and insulting.

* INTERCAPE, it’s high time you do something with the bus to Katima. The bus which left November 24 broke down seven times.

* INTERCAPE we don’t need your brötchen. All we need is to get to our destination on time. Service your buses!
