Food For Thought
* FELLOW Namibians, let’s unite. As to the youth, we are young and let’s not encourage tribalism in our society. Politics is not about fighting. It’s about standing up, sharing ideas and making peace. Come on, don’t blame Mr President [Hifikepunye Pohamba].

Messages Of Condolence
* I WISH to extend my heartfelt condolence to the great man, comrade Dr Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, the Founder of the Namibian nation and the entire family, on the passing away of their beloved mother, “kuku” Gwakondombolo. May the Almighty give you strength and courage to bear this immense loss of the Great Mother and Grandmother.
– FN Pea, Oshakati
* THE UDF Party of Namibia has taken note of the passing away of the respected grandmother of the nation, mother of the Father of the Nation Dr Sam Nujoma. Our memories reflect the dark and difficult days of our liberation struggle to free our country through the then Damara Raad, (Council) now UDF, shoulder to shoulder alongside Swapo. Our struggle is now a “mission accomplished” Mother Kuku GwaKondo Helvi Mpingana Kondombolo was blessed to enjoy the fruits of our independence for the past 18 years as a free Namibian. Her legacy will remain with us for decades to come. The UDF express its deepest and heartfelt condolences to Dr Sam Nujoma, family, friends and the Swapo Party. The UDF salutes her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
– UDF Secretariat
* NOVEMBER 26 marked the first day our Heavenly Father took you away from us (kuku Gwakondo). It is painful for us to accept that you are gone forever our grandmother of the Namibian nation. We trust that the Almighty God will always take care of you. May your soul rest in peace.
– L Ndina, Ongha
* MAY the soul of Meekulu Gwakondo rest in peace. To the Father of Nation Dr Sam Nujoma, and the entire bereaved family, may God give you strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss. Good-bye Meekulu.

Politics
* OPPOSITION parties in Namibia are allowed to exist and stand for elections, but they are not allowed to campaign. If they do, Swapo calls this provocation and sends its thugs to attack them. This is not democracy! It is the same repression of democracy that is practised by the brutal dictatorial regime in Zimbabwe. We can now understand why Swapo supports Zanu-PF. They are the same!
* MR President (Hifikepunye Pohamba), after having read your view (The Namibian, December 1) pertaining to the recent political intolerance, I was left to understand you better. Your version lacks any diplomacy. Believe me, you had a place in many Namibians’ hearts, but have blown this with your opinion regarding that matter.
– Seviour, Rundu.
* HONESTLY speaking, I am disappointed to hear our President singing the provocation song. As Head of State he should come out strongly and condemned all forms of violence and lawlessness regardless of whoever is responsible for such disgraceful actions.
* I AM so disappointed in our President; I had such faith in him as a human being and a fair leader, and now this.
* RDP must file civil claims against Swapo for damages and injuries and stop crying too much.
* LET’S get the facts right people. Hon (Jesaya) Nyamu said health personnel at Outapi Hospital refused to treat injured RDP supporters, but again the caller on NBC radio who claimed to have been in Outapi himself on that specific day said RDP members were treated at Oshakati Hospital and Medi-Park but not at Outapi. Hon Nyamu met people at Oshikuku but was not in Outapi. Who is fooling who? Who is right here and who wants to score cheap political points?
– U2, Ongwediva
* IS it not corruption on the side of the Outapi Police not to arrest those who violated the law because they belong to the Swapo Party? Mr Noa of ACC please respond.
* ‘IT is unacceptable for a Police officer to throw a flag of a political party on the ground’. My question: is it acceptable for a civilian to force a Police officer to leave a certain place where an opposition party is holding a meeting? (Aims to keep law and order). Please be fair and impartial.
* THE removal by the Police of political party flags from trees hoisted to disrupt freedom of assembly is not as bad as violently grabbing and burning in public of the one belonging to the opponent under the justification of provocation. Please stop.
* HAS the Editor of this Desk ever considered the consequences of messages published on this page? The President has become a target of insults through this paper which is a sign of disrespect and as such, may encourage hatred among different groups of supporters. All your SMSes of Tuesday, 02 except two are a direct assault on the President of this Republic. He is compared to George Bush and another SMS claims he is not a President of Namibia, the statement bordering to high treason. This is truly a sign of moral decay in our society.
– Nekongo
– PLEASE note that criticism and insults are not the same thing. We have made it clear on many occasions that it is not this newspaper’s intention to publish hate speech, incite people to protests or belittle any individual. We do however reserve our readers’ democratic right to criticise the words and actions of people in public life, people they have put in office, even the President. Contrary to bordering on high treason or moral decay, this indicates a shift towards the free and democratic society so many Namibians sacrificed so much for. – Newsdesk
Bouquets And Brickbats
* SALUTE to Toivo ya Toivo for giving the nation direction by telling the truth. In you a father, a hero, a man of integrity. Your words guided me and other confused youth. South Africa has Mandela, Namibia has Toivo ya Toivo.
* NBC please try to award your long-service employees with something more rewarding than a piece of paper. Other companies give cash!
* TATE Buti never swore on stage. Saying “ek worry fokkol nie”, is not an insulting word, just literally saying I don’t give a damn or just simply mind your business, I mind mine. Just wonder who he insulted at all?
* [SWAPO Secretary General Pendukeni] Ithana leave The Namibian alone. Like Mandela, our Gwen [Lister, Editor] has fought against white domination, she has fought against black domination, through telling it like it is.
The ACC
* WELL done Anti-Corruption Commission, enough is enough. Shame on you Otavi Village Councillors, you failed to take action whilst you were enlightened by the community about fraudulent acts.
* CAN someone please help the ACC prioritise! They appear to be struggling on that front.
Health Matters
* I AGREE that we are spending too much on AIDS. What I can’t understand is that we are all aware of the virus. Why are we still being ignorant and stubborn? Please stop pretending not to be affected by it and start preventing it. Every bit of information makes a difference no matter what about. Why can’t we stand together to fight all the other sicknesses together. Why can’t more people help inform us the public about all the other diseases out there. Help.
Children Of The Struggle
* I AM an exile kid but I don’t know where we are registering. It seems like the registration has only started at the camp where our fellows are settled now. But it was not officially announced that we must go then and register. We are still waiting to be told. It is now holidays and most of us are now travelling to north. We were also part of the demonstration but went back. Please Uncle Sam where can we register ourselves for those who are still in the area but are not camped there? Can we go to the Khomas Regional Council office?

* TRAFFIC rules and regulations must be amended when it comes to the road traffic users by giving the right of way or showing others to overtake. Most of the heavy vehicle drivers indicate to the right for giving the right of way or allowing you to overtake. Is that right? Or should one rather indicate to the left to give right of way? Road authority please respond!

* TO audit firms and ICAN, do different disclosure rules apply to companies in Namibia. Nedbank and FNB disclose directors’ remuneration. Bank Windhoek, Standard Bank and Namibia Breweries don’t disclose any.
* CITY Police, please patrol in Malaka Draai corner of Shangai & Johannes Teujijama streets. There are boys who shake the power cables in the evening and run away. This causes power failures in houses and sends electric waves through the house which is dangerous and can kill us.
* THE Oxford Pocket School Dictionary defines the term ‘regime’ to mean a form of government. Thus, its is difficult to understand how it could be seen as a derogatory term.
* WHEN can the Plan fighters expect payout of their compensation? [Ngarikutuke] Tjiriange, Minister of War Veterans, please answer.
* PLEASE, please my fellow Namibians, if we pick up someone’s important documents, don’t keep them. Hand them in at the nearest Police station or somewhere where the owner can get them easily.
In And From the Regions
* CAN someone please answer me? How many Police vehicles are there in Rehoboth? If they don’t have any to go to farms or houses where people’s lives may be in danger, what happens then? The Rehoboth Police should pull up their socks. They should remember it’s our money, the taxpayers’ money, that pays their salaries.
* ACC we really need you to investigate in our town Lüderitz. When you ask for an erf or plot to buy you are told there is nothing or no you can’t get one because you already have a house. But certain people with money have up to six erven and still get more.
Service Please
* HOW long does it take Natis to print a licence card for a change of surname?
* FNB, shame on you. Every day and night you are asking us how you can help us but there is no single BOB card at your main branch and you didn’t inform us. What type of service is that?
* FNB ATM Eenhana is useless. Apparently the machine is very old and gets warm and as a result ends up not working. We always have problems on pay days, Fridays and Sundays. Please improve your service
* NORED vendors in Ondangwa never have power, never. Please if you can’t look after customers, then give it to those who care for the customers.
* THE manager of Pick n Pay Tsumeb does not treat his customers well and these are the same people that pay his salary. Just wondering.
– Ama
* GOBABIS Post Office do your best to change your service. Queues are too long, only two cashiers, phone is always busy. We need more cashiers and enough space. Pensioners are queuing up in the street for payment with no chair in the hot sun. Please do something.
* MINISTRY of Finance [headquarters] please improve your service delivery. How can a phone be ringing without any reply. I’ve been the section dealing with medical aid but of no avail. Are those phones ringing on deaf ears or what?
– Solo, Ondangwa.
Sporting
* I DON’T know who is in charge of this but we want to see the NPL log standing every Monday or Tuesday in all the newspapers, please.
