Food For Thought
* JULIUS Malema, welcome to the Land of the Brave, but please, don’t call us cockroaches.
* THE Kenyan Prime Minister said: ‘Participation in the Liberation Struggle is NO licence for anyone to OWN a country’. Some food for thought for the Swapo think tank to digest. Zimbabwe
* I’M ashamed that we have not supported Zimbabweans when we should have. Can we really call ourselves Land of the Brave?
* ROBERT Mugabe is the root cause of suffering and disorder in Zimbabwe. Appropriate assistance to the people of Zimbabwe is not to send them humanitarian aid, but to help remove Mugabe from power.
* PLEASE Robert Mugabe for God’s sake leave office. There is nothing you can do for Zimbabwe at your age. Please Sir, leave now.
* I DEMAND that the President of this country say or even whisper something about Zimbabwe. For how long are we going to remain a country that just exists, rather than a country with principles? No wonder the global community doesn’t even know where Namibia is!
* LET’S hear it for the brave Namibian fuel tanker drivers delivering fuel to a starved Zimbabwe nation. You can see them parked at the Kazangula and Plumtree border posts.
* ONE wonders whether the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe are aimed at Mugabe or the people of Zimbabwe. Western countries will remain imperial as they do not care for Africans. Let us unite as Africans for the good of Africa. Anticolonial/imperialism. Aluta continua! Politics
* BLIND loyalty, buffoonery and gullibility are a threat to our democracy. Thanks [Joe] Diescho for setting the record straight in The Namibian Friday, December 4. I think your article should be printed in local languages for the majority to understand better. – Action K
* HOW can Diesho insult our leaders? Are you the one who brought peace, stability in this country and the Constitution of the Republic of Namibia? Diescho you stay like that; just like a dry leaf on an evergreen tree waiting to fall down and decompose.
* GOOD luck president HH.
* THE court proved on Friday that nobody is above the law. When are the Police going to prove it?
* VITALIS Ankama and Swapo, that failed blow to RDP was below the belt. Sies man!
* A LETTER from K Kazenambo in the Windhoek Observer of December 6 refers. The Hon Dep Minister’s said letter left me ever confused as to what type of young lawmakers we have in our Parliament. Thanks only that we have visionary leaders, like veteran Andimba T ya Toivo, to look to in times of need.
* POLITICS first and foremost is about people, not parties. – H Talaska Bouquets And Brickbats
* I WOULD like to thank the City Police for a job well done on Saturday evening. We were sleeping when we heard footsteps in the house. We called City Police and they arrived within 10 minutes. They really acted fast, searched the place thoroughly and were just so professional. Thanks guys, and a very special thank you to Aron and Nekundi. We can sleep better at night knowing that you are just a phone call away. – Saara and Eva
* THE Christmas tree built out of paint tins at Ausspannplatz looks rather tacky! General
* DID you know Cuba was declared an illiteracy free territory on December 22 1961?
* WHEN, oh when will the traffic department act against taxi drivers who blatantly ignore red robots, stop where they like, and turn right even from a left lane. Driving in Windhoek is a nightmare!
* WHY is it that in financial news, there is no mention of the uranium price? Yet Namibia is now well known for producing a big percentage on the global scale, and there are several exploration works going on. – Motsamai from Swakop
* NAMDEB has money to wrap a gigantic building and no sponsor for a girl from the Diamond Area who needs a face operation.
* OFFICIALS at the City of Windhoek, do you ever go around in the Katutura streets to see what they look like? Are you really satisfied with the way those people are sweeping the streets? Please do something, the stones are too many and it’s dangerous.
* ARE some people allowed to run cash loans from their backyards?
* THE begging culture in this country is highly disturbing. In our days we were taught to be content with what was available, but today children, adults and the elderly are on the streets to beg. What is happening to our morals? – Tullicious
* WE should all get together and raise our voices against high prices that went up overnight. When are they coming down? My small shopping expedition on Friday netted over N$70 of VAT for Government. Imagine what the daily turnover in VAT is. So shopkeepers keep putting your prices up! The result could be more unnecessary buildings. More handouts to bankrupt parastatals. More waste on court fees. More money to tempt the corrupt. And who is paying? ACC Alert
* ACC please go and investigate the water charges by the Rundu Town Council, we’re charged astronomical amounts of money. The billing system is robbing us!
* I NEED ACC to come to the Kavango Region where tribalism and regionalism play a major role when it comes to promotion, especially if you are not from this region.
* DOES the ACC only control GRN vehicles/properties or does it also look at NamWater, City of Windhoek, NamPower (all parastatals), Nampol whose cars are always at bars? Are they patrolling in the bars or what are they doing with GRN vehicles in the middle of the night? If they are called to attend to the public then they don’t have cars. How will they have cars if they are in the bars? Please be fair to all.
In And From the Region
* WHAT were garbage truck (with paper-reading driver) workers doing across from Engen on Sunday afternoon? Were the boys out making overtime or making PR?
* ONGWEDIVA Town Council why do you have four cashiers but you only use one for paying your bills?
* WE are being ripped off by Rundu Town Council, for services not provided, such as refuse removal. And we’re also being double charged for, water and basic water. Why is that so? Is it not exploitation?
Health Matters
* MINISTER Kamwi, a nurse threatened to deny treatment: my sin was that I didn’t respond (éhé) when she called my name. I don’t know what it means because I can’t speak the vernacular Children Of The Struggle
* THE Government of Namibia should stop and get rid of being judgemental and showing favouritism. This in accordance with ex-combatants and their children’s benefits. People should just be treated the same. In fact, these people are working and are supporting their children but still they are to be given work and go for further studying for free. Why should these ex-combatants’ children be treated special? Their parents have already paid for the work they did!
* CAN the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs tell us why they stopped the registration of children of the war veterans? Some children were left out especially here in Windhoek and we were not told of the main reason of the mininsty stopping the registration! Please consider our well-being! – Mike
Education
* WOULD like to find out from the Ministry of Education at what age a child should start school? Is it six years or seven years?
* I AM a Grade 12 learner and we want our results to come as early as for Grade 10 because we want to take our courses as early as possible. Please the Ministry of Education help us. – Martha
* PLEASE will somebody at the Namibian Qualifications Authority advise De Beers Marine that qualifications obtained in Namibia from 1991 to 2001 at Lüderitz are of high quality and should regarded as such. People are sent to RSA to repeat what they have done already instead of improving and developing them. Please take this as a matter of urgency. We are really being exploited. Service Please
* ELLERINES we brought our furniture for cash, but we waited a week before the items got delivered. Is that customer service?
* I WOULD like to see order implemented and maintained at the Natis Testing Centre in Windhoek especially at the opening hours. Hundreds of people flock to this centre daily and only a few get tested. Can’t we have two or more centres opened in the capital or at least increase the workforce at the existing centre? – Angombe
* THE junior staff dealing with inquiries are not allowed credit on their phones only the seniors are allowed at Home Affairs. Tell me how will the public get service.
* NEDBANK Namibia, please introduce cellphone banking since there are a limited number of ATMs in the country. We find it difficult to withdraw money in small towns. Sporting
* WHEN is the NFA going to host AFCON? It’s a question of commitment and determination more than resources.
* PLEASE Ronny, make the right changes at the right time and places, because Black Africa could have won that match against Civics. – Diehard Black Africa supporter Labour Issues
* WHY are the Board of TransNamib and Minister [Helmut] Angula quiet on the hearing of the suspended CEO? The morale of the workers is down. We’re just coming to work for the sake of coming. No co-briefs on the company anymore no nothing! Minister Kawana finished his report on TransNamib yet Cabinet is quiet on the findings. – Frustrated employee Disconnections
* MTC please come and check the network at Ongulumbashe. Hear the nation crying.
* MTC please keep your service as you promised. Don’t tell stories to customers when you can’t work on or service their phone. It is not always water damage. Replace the phones. Your Samsung phones have no quality and your staff working on them don’t know what is wrong when a phone has an electronic problem. They always say it is water damage
* REPLY to the labour SMS on Thursday: It’s obvious the Police must be picked up, have some respect for your protectors! I don’t want to see your vehicle running after work hours! Mr Noa is my insurance. Live and let others live. – Mr Anti-selfish
