SMSes for Tuesday 2 Dec 08

* I WISH to pay tribute to the Government, private companies, churches and all people who participate in HIV-AIDS events. It shows that you really care for our nation. – Baloyi

Food For Thought

* PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba seems to have abandoned his inaugural pledge to be a ‘president of all’ who will ‘uphold and protect the Constitution’. Even if Swapo Party members are provoked, does that make the Head of State justify them being attacked. Is it a ‘provocation’ to hold a meeting or rally in the Omusati Region only? Mr President, come back to the people!

Rest In Peace

* I CAN confidently say that, here lies a woman, mission accomplished. The baton has been passed on to us, especially our women, to emulate the example of this strong woman, and nurture the fruits of her hard work with absolute dedication for a peaceful and prosperous Namibia. RIP Kuku.

Politics

* IN WHOM should we believe, trust and rely on? If those we regarded to be our inspiration cannot even distinguish the difference between good and bad, right and wrong and between truth and lies. Can one believe and trust in our own President? I don’t think so! Mr President you betrayed and confused half of the Namibian nation with your stand on the Outapi issue, I thought your are a true leader but you just proved me and the rest of the nation who believe in justice wrong.

– Peace watchdog

* COMRADE (Jerry) Ekandjo do you remember when the apartheid state security violently disrupted your Swapo meetings before Independence? You used to run into our houses and we sheltered you, but we did not belong to your party then. Comrade Hendjala is one of the people who never ran away and always stood his ground despite teargas and bullets. What happened to Jerry who fought for freedom of choice and association?

* THANKS to comrade Hishongwa for telling them off on our behalf. It is true there is total contamination in Swapo party. The true Swapo cadres respected elders, other party cadres, the media and the church.

* FINALLY, it is official: President Hifikepunye (Pohamba), the President of Swapo (not Namibia) has taken his stand. Goodbye peace and democracy. Aluta Continua.

– Lady Ann

* I HAVE the greatest respect for tate Pohamba as a liberation hero and even as a minister especially during those earlier years as Minister of Home Affairs but unfortunately, and to my disappointment, as President of the Republic I now only compare him to George W Bush, very unpopular indeed.

– JD Hatutale

* PRESIDENT Pohamba, being a good man is one thing, but understanding the law is another thing. Your statement on the Outapi issue make us realise that leaders need to be interviewed face to face before they are elected to positions as yours, just to find out their standing when it comes to the interpretation of the law.

* I AM very concerned about our country, and our people especially during this time of blind political turmoil. It saddens me that our Namibian president is in support of violence under the word provocation and he only spoke out a week after it happened. I know he spoke as the president of Swapo at their party meeting and not as the President of Namibia, I am just wondering when will he speak out as the President of Namibia. There is no country called Swapo, only Namibia and people can gather wherever they want, as long as the Police approve.

* I LOST my trust in President Pohamba for defending the violence in this country. God help your nation!

Dolly

* FELLOW citizens, I am shocked by President Pohamba condoning political violence. I don’t blame Swapo’s alleged move to remove him. Namibia is no longer safe.

* THE way I understand President Pohamba and his peers, one may turn to violence if provoked. Opposition parties should challenge this issue in the courts, even the SADC Tribunal, before it’s too late.

* COMRADES, do not think that those people who are in RDP are maybe from foreign countries, those are Namibian citizens like you. Comrades during the liberation struggle war some of us we killed our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, daughters and sons, but we have realised after Independence that it is wrong and shameful. Do we want to repeat the same mistakes? Please we have been seeing what is happening Rwanda, DR Congo, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Iraq, Palestine, Liberia and many other countries in the world.

* PRESIDENT’S response on political violence (front page). It is unbelievable to read that the president of the country who is supposed to lead by example to ensure democracy responds in this manner. Plain discouraging.

– Erich, Windhoek

* FELLOW RDP members, if we do not have the protection of the Head of State against violence and intimidation from Swapo, let’s really stay out of Omusati. Let the 2009 elections speak for themselves.

* MR (Evilastus) Kaaronda stop destroying Namibia and our Swapo with your hatred towards some people. Your call for the immediate suspension of (Vincent) Hailulu and (Gerhard) Tötemeyer is a disgrace and indication of a politically confused person. Why didn’t you call for the suspension of Swapo think tank member Andrew Ndishishi during the investigation of the N$100 million which is still missing? Namibia is fed up with your backstabbing.

Children of the Struggle

* THE liberation struggle children, now concealed at a plot north of Windhoek, have been promised army jobs. Next, let’s all shout or picket and get all we want.

Bouquets And Brickbats

* AFRO Connection. I am an ‘Afro Connection’ fan. However, I am not entertained by the way it is presented. It’s supposed to be a music non-stop hour. But instead, it’s turned into a talk show programme where artists or musicians are interviewed. It is becoming boring. Let Tutaleni and or Wezeni do the talk show please. What we expect in ‘Afro Connection’ is only music and nothing else.

Stanley, Ondobe, Ohangwena

* MUSIC awards? What can one say … absolutely pathetic from an unorganised programme to SA music playing in the background. Why don’t we rather cancel the whole awards?

PK

* MTC, I just want thank you for what you’re doing for all your clients to phone for free. I was very happy when I received your SMS saying there’ll be again free calling until December 23. I think this time around MTC is trying to be stingy. How can you tell your client to make a free call from midnight to 07h00. This time you allocated, all your faithful clients are asleep. Change your time to daytime and evening, not midnight.

Zimbabwe & Congo

* WHEN is SADC going to provide a decisive and final solution on Zimbabwe or is it the same old story? We also want to go home.

* TO all SADC member countries, let’s unite and solve the Zimbabwe and DRC issues! Never trust Botswana they are fulfilling their masters in USA and the UK.

Health Matters

* DOES it not bother the Minister of Health why so many nurses are leaving Okahandja Hospital? Please investigate the matter before the hospital is without nurses.

General

* PLEASE board members select the right candidate for the RCC CEO vacancy.

* IS Maerua Mall safe? I noticed when one is in the parking area the base shakes when cars are moving.

* I SUGGEST that the price for gun ammunition should be increased by at least N$3 000 or N$5 000 per box. This will keep bostotsos away from buying ammunition which they use to kill innocent people. They are able to buy it, even if they are not working, because it is very cheap. Guns and ammunition are non-essentials and the price should be increased.

* WHY are literacy promoters not given a bonus or gift for December like other GRN workers?

* I WORKED and lived in Botswana. I once drove to Malawi via Zimbabwe and Zambia. By convention a driver gives right of way (to overtake) by indicating left. It’s only here and in the RSA where I found people indicating right. In RSA one at least has the luxury of a wide shoulder where trucks move over to ‘yellow line driving’. Trouble with indicating right is you cannot tell if you are being allowed to pass or if the driver in front is turning right. Indicating left holds no inherent danger to vehicle behind even if you were to turn.

In And From the Regions

* ACC try to assist us to look into the work of Rural Water Supply of Onankali in Oshikoto Region. The office has enough personnel and transport but they fail to connect water which we applied for last year. This year no water connection has been advertised. The community needs water.

* HEALTH Minister, are you aware that there is no State doctor currently in the whole of the Lüderitz district. The only one is on leave after working alone for years and Cuban volunteer attends erratically.

Sporting

* MR (Boy-Boy) Ndjadila we want to see quality referees, not poor quality ones with unfit legs. Please.

Labour Issues

* CAN the Anti-Corruption Commission come to the Police Department of VIP Services and help us who are going with the ministers or all VIP’s please? We are told that when a VIP’s go on leave then we are given rate 2 because the ministers are going on leave. But for me as a policeman, I am not going on leave but am on duty protecting the VIP’s.

* WEATHERLY is closing all its mines. Hundreds of workers losing their jobs. And not a peep out of MUN yet.

Service Please

* OSHAKATI bus registration number N 1522 SH with Shilunga’s name was overloaded on Friday. So the bus conductor decided to get off apparently because he was afraid of being arrested for overloading at Oshivelo. Since the conductor left with money we were stranded for almost three hours because the driver was afraid of running out of fuel. Some people with money decided to get other transport. That’s when he decided to drive slowly to Otjiwarongo, where we had to wait for another three hours again for someone to come from Oshakati to bring money for fuel. What an irresponsible move. So we travelled to Windhoek for 12 hours.

* PICK  ‘n Pay, how can you advertise specials and then charge the regular price at the till? Why bother with specials?

* THE Katutura State Hospital needs proper management. Patients are waiting in very long queues for the whole week waiting for gynaecologists and never get helped. Those rooms are closed. Mr Kamwi do something please.

Disconnections

* PLEASE Cell One upgrade your network at Rosh Pinah so that it can reach up to Skorpion Zinc Mine. Also contract customers need some improvements in benefits.

* WE need One Africa TV in Outapi. One Africa TV, please save our souls.

Education

* PLEASE IOL, send the study materials of students on time. How do you expect someone to complete assignments within less than a month? Since October I have not received study materials up to now. Please improve your services.

– A concerned student

* WHAT sense does it make, or otherwise, what distinct justification is behind the Grade 12 O level results being released in January and not in December.
