Food for Thought
* TEAM Namibia is a joke. How can we buy Namibian products to boost the economy while Government is buying Chinese labour for over a billion each year?
NB: Exam Results
*HI. There is a printing error in No. 237 (Tuesday issue). Under the title ‘Exam Results out on Friday.’ The website given for students to view results on is given as: www.dnea.ov.na. It is in fact: www.dnea.gov.na
– Thank you for pointing that out. –Newsdesk
Potholes pose a risk to drivers.
Bouquets And Brickbats
* TO the Editor and entire staff of The Namibian, although I have been critical of you and don’t mind you never published those articles, I do have to compliment you for working hard to inform the nation. Keep it up. A job well done! Merry Xmas and a Prosperous New Year 2009! God bless. – Kanamtenya – Thank you very much. – News Editor
* WELL done Bethanie Clinic! Well done! Please line ministry make it a hospital one day. There is excellent service by these few staff members. I nearly died but got the best attention. My special thanks go to the sister who was on duty during lunchtime on December 16. Well done well Sissy. Unlike dying in queues at Katutura Central Hospital.– Ronny wa Sililo
* I’M really impressed by Namibia Breweries adverts, especially for Windhoek Lager on TV. Thumbs up. You guys are setting a good example, keep it up. And to the drivers, don’t drink and drive please!– TK
Politics
* DID the nation notice that Swapo leadership is now being guarded and protected more than they were during the liberation struggle? Are we their enemies or what?
* IN Swapo, the president and vice president positions were not contested. In RDP, president, vice president and secretary general were not contested. Why didn’t other comrades challenge? Were they scared? Now, Swapo two RDP. Who is undemocratic Gwen?
Children Of The Struggle
* MR Shipoh, exile kids will get scholarships, GRN jobs and support for business at the expense of the non-exile people. Oh! Lord, how I wish that all Namibians had gone into exile, to enjoy the same benefits. – Magano
Fraud, Fuel And Finance
* WHEN [Lazarus] Kandara [allegedly] swindled the SSC of N$30 million, I thought he was a master broker, well I was not so right. An American money manager [Bernard] Madoff defrauded banks and individual investors in Europe and USA of U$50 billion. So folks, how safe is your hard-earned investment? – Shakes
* I THANK God for turning the global economy upside down for human survival. Now oil is down, vehicle sales are down – this means less carbon dioxide. My idea is for the world leaders to balance the economy with our nature on which we depend for living.– Henry
* IT seems the economic recession in the USA is doing us a lot of wonders, don’t you think so folks? The fuel price going down and for the first time in my life to see Namibia as a country marketed on CNN, on Tuesday.
* IMPORTED milk. We recently had a problem with milk imported from China with nobody knowing how it entered the country. The supermarket shelves are fully packed with juice and milk imported from Egypt. Were the products inspected before reaching the shelves?
Donating blood saves lives!
General
* NEW Skeleton National Park – where? Consultations – when, where, by whom and with whom? This is a well-planned land grab.
* WHY does one need to state whether you’re black or white on the blood transfusion forms when donating blood? Is the blood from one group not suitable for the other? For years there was no such thing, why the sudden change?
* JUST like fornication and adultery, prostitution’s bottom line is a matter of morals and spiritual decay, and not of poverty or economics. No matter how sad our story may be or how difficult our circumstances are – as human beings we still remain moral agents with the capacity to choose between right and wrong, and each one of us will one day be held accountable for the choices we made by the one true God who is our Creator and who is more than able to supply all our needs if only we would submit ourselves to Him and obey His commandments.
* SINCE Mr Jesaya Nyamu negotiated and banned importation of second-hand cars from Japan, can present Minister in charge lift it and also implement reasonable taxation on imported cars.
– Andonya
Zimbabwe
* ZIMBABWEANS voted President Robert Mugabe into power and ran away to the neighbouring countries. They must go back and vote the right person into power and stay there.
How safe are condoms?
Health Matters
* TO think you’re safe with a condom, is rather like playing Russian roulette: condom failure rate is 20+%!
Education
* WHO is milking who? School Development Fund (SDF) added extra dollars: 1 for NSSU, 1 for Cluster, 1 for Circuit (Eenhana) etc. Why do our learners have to pay extra for running GRN and unions?
* MINISTRY of Education. With the NQA please look at the graduates from Zimbabwe. Can you consider them in Category D because they have just covered the same curriculum with the Unam students. If they apply for Mastep at Unam, they will not be admitted with the reason they give 100% in the assignments. What can we do to improve. Please help us our ministry. We need your answer please.
– Concerned Candidate
Labour Issues
* HOW can the labour unions negotiate the reduction of overtime for public servants instead of trying to improve their benefits? These union leaders will never act independently since they are affiliated to the ruling party.
Don’t drink and drive!
In And From the Regions
* IT is reported that 30 drunk drivers were arrested in Erongo but alas the big one got away long ago. Your guess is as good as mine regarding who it might be.
* WE’RE sick and tired. The electricity rates from Cenored in Grootfontein and Tsumeb are very high and the residents can no longer afford it.
* WE need development at Outapi. We need One Africa TV, Radio Energy, Omulunga Radio etc. Please hear our cries.
– Gideon.
A little retail therapy never hurts.
Service Please
* I WONDER, I’ve been shopping in clothing stores since 1964, but last year I spent my holiday with my family in the north. Last week I shopped in Ackermans, Dunns and then Jet. Today I went again to these stores. I ended in Jet where they have a discount thing. I bought for N$968.10 and got 20 per cent off. Good. But my serious concern is the way you are searched and your clothes are checked at the door. It is very embarrassing. I felt like a nothing. Why can’t these businesses, if they think the public is their enemy, do something professional like using the latest technology?
* STANDARD Bank please check your telephones. I have been trying since last week Thursday to get an appointment with your consultants but first have to listen to your stupid machine for the different options and then get put on hold. Who do you think is paying for these calls?
* MTC’s service (or lack of) is amazing! Just try calling them for queries. First they make you wait while they read a whole list of options, then when you select to talk to the operator, they cut you off!
