Operating
Systems
Mac
OS X 10.1
Reviewer: tripm@monmouth.com from Bradley Beach, NJ
USA: " "OS X is has been neat, it's been out
for about 7 months now, but it has been slow and
did not really have any software that was
compatible with it. Now Apple has released 10.1 and
man is it a workover!!! Speed has been greatly
increased, even on older macs, like the original
G3s (I have a Blue & White G3/450). There are
many new user-friendly enhancements like a
more-configurable control-panel area, and new
menu-bar controls for airport wireless networking,
audio level and more. The Dock is much better now
that it can be positioned on the sides as well as
the bottom - and the new "less-animated" dock
effects allow your computer to use less processing
cycles (if you choose)."

Utilities
Norton
AntiVirus 2002 8.0
Reviewer:
simba130 from Boston, MA USA: "I figured it was
time to upgrade my virus software when a computer
glitch forced me to reinstall all the software on
my hard drive. I have had no problems with it so
far and definitely think it is a lot better than
McAfee, which was originally installed on my
computer.I especially love the fact that for the
first year with the free subscription, it will
automatically check for updated virus definitions
each time you log onto the internet. You don't have
to do a thing! "

Web

Dreamweaver
4.0/Fireworks 4.0 Studio
Reviewer:
mac-p (see more about me) from Long Beach, NY
USA: "This is it. People who have been using it
for years know it, and people who are just
discovering it are realizing: Dreamweaver is in a
class by itself. Version 4 is the best yet, much
better than it needed to be considering there
wasn't any competition as it was. From beginning
web-designer to experienced coder, this is one
POWERFUL program. Combine it with Fireworks 4
(Macromedia's much better version of Adobe's Image
Ready) and you haved it all.

Linux
SuSE
Linux 7.2 Personal
Edition
Reviewer: Mark Hilgart from Westmont, IL USA:
"SuSE gently pushes its users to actually buy
their software by forcing users to download a few
megs worth of files every time you want to install
or uninstall software. If you're on a high speed
connection you might tolerate this, but this is the
push I needed to spend my first dollar ever on a
Linux distro. This, along with a quality product,
gives SuSE money to spend on a great professional
engineering team.
