Fistball moves indoors

By: STAFF REPORTER

THE Namibian Fistball season will continue in Swakopmund on Saturday when the SFC Sport Club hosts the Coastal Indoor Classic.

The tournament is Namibia’s only indoor fistball tournament and teams from Cohen FC, DTS, Atlantis (Walvis Bay) and SKW will be in action.
In addition under 18 national coach Andreas Minz will field two teams in a bid to garner match practice for the youngsters.
In July, Namibia will participate at the U18 European championships and an international training camp, which is organised by the International Fistball Association, in Austria.
Minz will test a number of combinations in attack and defense in an effort to build a strong team out of the ten player squad.
While the national teams do have some talented players in their ranks, neither is considered to be among the favourites for the indoor event.
The two SKW teams, who have dominated the tournament over the past couple of years, will be in Swakopmund and are expected to perform well.
Another team which has its sights set on tournament glory is Cohen FC who have started well into the league season and are serious title contenders should they be able to realise their potential.
Swakopmund FC are not expected to make a mark on Saturday, even though they are the only side that regularly practices indoors.
They will be significantly weakened by the absence of their best players who form a sizeable part of the u18 squad.
The games are scheduled to start at 09h00 and will end at 18h00 with the prize giving taking place directly after all games have finished.
