IK and Vimbai to host the first ever AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards

With the highly-anticipated AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) taking place on Saturday, March 9 in Lagos, Nigeria, organisers are hard at work creating a brilliant night of African film and TV glamour to celebrate the sensational talents of the continent’s rising and established stars.

Held in association with MultiChoice and sponsored by Amstel Malta, the event will be hosted by ‘Big Brother Africa’ presenter IK Osakioduwa and gorgeous ‘StarGist’ leading lady Vimbai Mutinhiri.
They were chosen because their experience and passion for the African entertainment scene makes them unique ambassadors for the event says M-Net Africa MD Biola Alabi.
“IK’s cool, calm professionalism combined with his effortless charm is clearly a benefit during busy live broadcasts while the always optimistic and stylish Vimbai’s enthusiasm for lifestyle programming makes her the ideal co-host for what we are confident will be a glittering, glamorous night for African stars, industry insiders and audiences watching at home.”
Mutinhiri says that she is honoured and excited to be part of the biggest initiative in the African film and television industry. “I feel there is no better way to pay homage to the outstanding stars we have on this continent than to be a part of the grand occasion to honour each one of them. I am sincerely humbled.”
Meanwhile popular Nigerian personality IK is equally proud and pleased with his AMVCA role as well. “It’s a really big deal when you think about it. It’s the first time AfricaMagic is doing anything like this. This is going to grow really huge over the years. So to be selected to be a part of the very first Award’s is just amazing.”
In addition to the red carpet fashion and a big turnout of top African stars, IK is particularly looking forward to which winner will have the most interesting speech. He also says that he’s really excited about the nominees because of the fresh talent starting to emerge.
Very important to remember is that fans can cast their votes on the website for their favourite nominees in the six viewer-voted categories. So if you want your favourite actor or actress to walk away with an award on March 9, you must vote!
The AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice will be screened live to DStv and GOtv audiences on Saturday, March 9 at 20h00 on AfricaMagic channel 154, AfricaMagic Entertainment, channel 151 and AfricaMagic World on GOtv as well as AfricaMagic Movies, channel 152 and Movies 1 channel 153.
