Nalisa ‘considered’ for NAC appointment

WORD in the corridors of the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) is that Brian Nalisa, who did a controversial consultancy on the restructuring of the company, is being considered take the over the reins as the new CEO.

It is understood that Nalisa is still a regular visitor at the NAC after he having completed his five-month consultancy at the company, for which he was paid N$7,5 million last year.
NAC acting CEO Tamer el-Kallawi reportedly met with Nalisa behind closed doors from 08h00 until 11h00 on Monday.
After the meeting, it is understood that el-Kallawi and Nalisa went to see Works and Transport Minister Erkki Nghimtina on the same day.
 “This is very laughable. There are no such talks,” responded NAC board chairperson Ndeuhala Katonyala yesterday to the rumours that Nalisa is being lined up to take over from the suspended CEO, Ben Biwa.
She would also not comment on the status of Biwa’s suspension because the matter is being dealt with by the lawyers of the two parties.
“I am not allowed to talk about it,” said Biwa when approached for comment on his suspension.
The Namibian had asked the NAC to respond to these matters as well as the impending recruitment of a consultancy firm to do a job grading exercise.
However, by late yesterday afternoon the NAC public relations officer, Mia Davids, on instruction of acting CEO el-Kallawi, said the company would rather release a press statement adressing the questions raised by The Namibian.
