Modern sport ground for Kamanjab
KAMANJAB – Residents of Kamanjab in the Kunene Region can look forward to a brand new, modern sport stadium here as construction is set to commence on such a structure soon.
The community is currently forced to make use of two fields for sport activities – one situated near the community hall which is only identifiable by two iron poles; while the other is little more than a gravel field next to the Kamanjab Combined School.
Acting Kamanjab Village Council clerk Games Namaseb told Nampa in an interview on Tuesday that construction on a N$900 000 stadium will start in October this year.
“It will have grass, a pavilion to accommodate 500 people and a track for athletic purposes,” he said, adding that seating for 500 people is adequate taking into consideration the village’s population.
The stadium will be constructed next to the Kamanjab Combined School, about 300 metres east of the Kamanjab Village Council offices.
Funding for the stadium was sourced from the German Special Initiative Programme.
Namaseb could not provide a specific date for the completion of the stadium, but said it would be completed next year. – Nampa
