Keetmans police out of petrolBy: LUQMAN CLOETE
THE Keetmanshoop Police station has been without petrol for almost a week.
According to a source, local officers are filling up their duty vehicles with petrol transported from other police stations in containers.
The source hinted that the station’s petrol pump ran dry after a fuel supplier had suspended supply due to non-payment.
Karas Police Commissioner Armas Shivute denied the claim, saying the fuel delivery was delayed because of a misunderstanding between the supplier and a transport company.
“This has been sorted out, we expect a fuel tanker to arrive today to fill up the station’s petrol pump,” said Shivute.
Shivute said the lack of petrol at the station had not affected operations because petrol cards were used to fill police cars at private filling stations.
