Delie, Lindemeier get top Namibian swimming awards

QUINTON Delie and Daniela Lindemeier were the top performers at the annual awards ceremony of the Namibia Swimming Union which took place in Windhoek on Thursday evening.

Delie received the trophy for the Single Best Performance by a male swimmer when he obtained 708 FINA points for his 100m freestyle Namibian record time of 52,61 that he set at the 2011 All-Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique.
Lindemeier also obtained 708 FINA points for her 200m breaststroke time of 2:37,19 that she set at the South African National Aquatic Championships in Durban in April 2012.
The annual awards ceremony was hosted at the Eagles Restaurant in Avis and was attended by Joan Smit and Dawie Augustyn from the Namibia National Olympic Committee and Meryl Barry on behalf of the Pupkewitz Foundation.
Smit reminded the swimmers about the second Youth Olympic Games that will take place in Nanjing, China, in July 2014 and urged them to work hard, saying that the NNOC was behind them all the way.
