RDP says Swapo lures members

By: STAFF REPORTER

RALLY for Democracy and Progress (RDP) accuses the Swapo Party of trying to lure members to the ruling party if they wish to get out of abject poverty.

RDP spokesperson Jeremiah Nambinga said the party’s operatives in Ongwediva have reported that RDP member Silas Shidolo Ndakolonghoshi is preparing to rejoin  Swapo to get his application for war veteran status approved and to receive benefits earmarked for recognised veterans.
“If true as reported, this is shocking because our correct understanding is that war veteran benefits are to be paid to those who deserve it for their heroic contributions made during the liberation struggle of our country and not based on political party affiliation,” Nambinga said.
“The approval of veteran benefits application based on political party affiliation borders on corruption of the highest order and should be condemned in the strongest terms.”
He said Swapo has organised the “surrender festival” of Ndakolonghoshi at the Swapo regional office at Oshana or at his home village at Onheleiwa ya Shimanda on June 30.
