Basket lady

Anna Amunyela of Kuvukiland has decided that unemployment won’t get her down.

Each day the residents of the informal settlement in Tsumeb witness how she uses leaves of the makalani palm and the plastic from bags in which vegetables are packaged to make colourful baskets. It takes her around one week to make one basket.  Photo: Tanja Bause
