Paulus Moses ‘Hitman’ roadshow begins today
By: SHEEFENI NIKODEMUSPAULUS ‘The Hitman’ Moses will lead his Sunshine Boxing Academy stable mates on a countrywide boxing tour starting at the Katutura Expo today.
Like the ‘Hitman Hits Back’ campaign of last year, this tour will feature exhibition bouts and coaching clinics in each of the towns the boxers visit.
Promoter Nestor Tobias said they were also hopeful of unearthing a gem or two during the tour.
Last year, the Hitman held exhibition fights against some of Namibia’s top professional boxers in Oshakati, Tsumeb, Otjiwarongo, Walvis Bay, Lüderitz, Oranjemund, Keetmanshoop, Mariental and Windhoek.
“We want the people in the far regions to meet their heroes.
This is also part of our development programme which we are continuing and maybe those kids who look up to these guys can get inspired to be like them also,” Tobias said. The tour will feature WBO international and Africa bantamweight title holder Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda, WBO Africa welterweight champion Bethuel ‘Tyson’ Uushona and WBO interim bantamweight champion Immanuel ‘Prince’ Naidjal, among others.
“Our target is to go to those regions that missed out last year. We will try to cover as many places as we can.”
After the Expo, the safari will next travel to Opuwo in two weeks’ time before moving on to Outapi and then to Ongwediva in time for the annual Ongwediva Trade Fair.
“After the Trade Fair we will come back to Windhoek to prepare for another bonanza on September 8. We plan to have at least two international titles and one national title on the card. We will also have boxers who did not fight on July 28,” said Tobias.
“Then we will continue with the campaign in Katima Mulilo and Rundu the next weekend.”
