By yesterday afternoon a fire on a 1974 cable layer vessel off the coast of Namibia was still raging .
The vessel with 56 crew members caught fire at Henties Bay yesterday. All crew members escaped a near-death experience. According to available information, the vessel was on its way from West Africa to the port at Walvis Bay, where it was to have dropped someone on land.
