On fire

By yesterday afternoon a fire on a 1974 cable layer vessel off the coast of Namibia was still raging .

The vessel with 56 crew members caught fire at Henties Bay yesterday. All crew members escaped a near-death experience. According to available information, the vessel was on its way from West Africa to the port at Walvis Bay, where it was to have dropped someone on land. The damage to the cable-laying vessel was said to be extensive.  Photo: Leon Krauze
