Bigger, better Windhoek Show around the corner

THE Windhoek Industrial and Agricultural Show is upgrading the grounds to the tuneof about N$750 000 to ensure that this year’s event will be the biggest ever.

The Show will start on September 28 and ends on October 6 and according to the executive vice president, Harald Schmidt, a record number of visitors are expected.
“More than 104 000 people attended last year’s show but with all the new developments and products to be displayed we are confident that more people from all over Namibia will visit it this year,” Schmidt told The Namibian.
About 430 stalls have been booked so far, while there will be an growth in the number of livestock on exhibition and motor vehicle dealers.
“We also have an increase in the number of exhibitors who will display agricultural products and this year the agricultural division with an increase in cattle and small stock will be one of the show’s highlights. We will also display a variety of bird species and the poultry division will be moved to an outside stall where more space is available.”
According to Schmidt the lay-out of the International Hall will also be changed, while Hall A will be the showcase for new products to be displayed at the show.
“The interest in the displaying of industrial machinery also increased, but we will ensure that there will still be a variety of products such as educational, cleaning, art, tools and services, for the visitors.”
He said upgrades at the showgrounds were needed especially in the health food alley.
“In the past there were three food outlets, but only two could have been used. We have demolished two of these stalls which were not suitable to prepare the food and are building three new ones, bringing the total number to four,” said Schmidt.
The show will again with the cooperation of NamPol maintain safety and security at the grounds during the event.
