Nam gets first win at netball qualifiers
By: SHEEFENI NIKODEMUSNAMIBIA registered it’s first victory at the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA) Africa World Championship qualifiers in Pretoria, South Africa.
Having been outclassed 59-34 by Botswana in their opening match on Monday, the Namibian girls secured a 38 -28 win against Tanzania on Tuesday.
The victory means the girls are now placed fourth, with two points, on the six team pool standings.
Yesterday they were scheduled to play Lesotho, who are yet to register any points, before taking on table topping South Africa, who have six points, today.
Another win, against Lesotho, will put Namibia a joint second, level on four points with first day nemesis Botswana, should the latter lose it’s third game, against South Africa.
Botswana currently occupies second position on the log, with four points
Third-placed Zimbabwe have the same points as Namibia and Tanzania in fourth and fifth place respectively. Only the top two teams will qualify for the world championship.
