Rugby youngsters get vaccine for Abidjan
PLAYERS of the Under-19 national rugby team received yellow fever vaccine injections at the Robert Mugabe Clinic on Wednesday before they left for Ivory Coast on yesterday.
The Under-19 rugby team left for Abidjan, Ivory Coast to compete in the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) Under-19 tournament, scheduled to take place from July 25 to 31. In an interview with Nampa yesterday, Team Manager Gabriel Tjombe confirmed that the yellow fever vaccine was administered to the players and management.
According to Tjombe, the opening match will be against Zambia on Sunday, and the Namibian team would then await the winner between Morocco and Tunisia for their second match, slated for 28 July.
Zimbabwe is the defending champions of the CAR Under-19 tournament. The complete list of countries participating in the tournament is: Ivory Coast, Kenya, Tunisia, Namibia, Uganda, Morocco, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The Namibian players are Rathony Becker, Lu-Andre Benade, Daniel Bock, Zirk Coetzee, Nico de Jager, Chase Diergaardt, Gordon Goaseb, William Jacobs, Pieter Janse van Vuuren, Nandivatu Karuuombe, Jurie Loots, Glem Mouton, Frank Mova, Stefan Neustadt, Royal Otto, Desiderius Sethie, Johan Steenkamp, Jeremy Strong, Tjino Tjirare, Munee Tjiueza, Daniel van Vuuren, Andre van Zyl, Ruchan Visagie and Jaco Wiese
